I used to use the regular charcoal, but decided to give this match light a try. It did not light at all. The bag has not been opened and it was stored in my cool garage. I stacked the briquettes and lit from the bottom corners. Absolutely nothing happened on either side. So of course I had no choice but to use lighter fluid. I hope my food doesnt taste like lighter fluid because if its already infused in the coal they should light right up and I should have to use lighter fluid. But nothing happened. I am highly disappointed!

I normally by the charcoal from Publix grocery store. When I first open the bag, it is great. One match will light it, but I use a lighter. As I get near the bottom of the bag, it is more difficult to light, but still usable. I just bought a bag from Walmart. It is horrible. I fought to light it the first time. Now I have to use a fluid to light it. I had a partial bag stored outside under the porch for 3 months that was easier to light. I guess Walmart buys tons of the stuff and leaves it in a warehouse for years before they sell it. Kingsford should not allow them to do this.

Didn't use lighter fluid with these so that's not the issue. But we cooked burgers using these today and had to throw out all the food due to a very strong chemical taste in the food, like what I would imagine lighter fluid might taste like (smelled the same). The whole grill smelled disgusting from these. Never again!!

I buy the 3.1 lb bag (Kingsford how about just 3.0 lbs) anyhow I put the whole bag into the bottom add a couple pounds regular charcoal, creating my 2 zone fire. Then sit back wait 15-30 minutes depending on weather. Result the best BBQ, and a perfect end to a perfect steak.

I have been using match light for years and have only had a couple of issues. The last 4-5 bags I have purchased either barely light at all or lights fast with lots of flame but then about 10 minutes in do nothing but smoke and the briquettes don't ash and burns very cool. It's ruined several BBQ's lately and I am re-thinking my charcoal purchases now.

I thought this would have been easier than using charcoal and lighter fluid. Wrong. First it wouldn't light. Added fire starters and it lit but wouldn't stay that way. Fire wouldn't spread to other charcoal either. I'm 20 minutes in and the charcoal still isn't lit. Worst waste of time and money.

I bought Kingsford Match Light. I would not buy this product again. No matter how many times I try to light it, I am unable to light. What a shame that it does not work. I have had three meals put off because of it. Guess I will have to purchase lighter fluid so that I am able to grill out.

The grocery store I use ran out of the Kingsford original that I normally buy. So instead they had the Match Light, so I got a 12.4lb bag. I've read alot of negative comments on this website about them being difficult to light, heavy fuel smell, etc. For me, these worked as advertised!! I stacked a charcoal chimney full, lit em up and within 10 minutes I had a hot fire going on my offset smoker. They cost a bit more, but since no fuel is required it's about the same as the regular briquettes. Would definetly buy again in a pinch. Kingsford's the best!

i have used this product for 20 years now and have loved it every time, however the last 3 times i have tried it lately it does not light. a friend of mine told me to use lighter fluid, i told him it was match light and i should not need it. he said he uses lighter fluid every time. im thinking this product has gone to the way side and would not recommend it to any one. sorry for the bad review but its better than trying to light your grill and can not do it. scott

I was getting ready to grill out and I bought this product to avoid buying lighter fluid and it doesn't light instantly. In fact it didn't light at all. I have friends over for a cook out and I have to cook in. totally disappointed and it ruined my night.
