The BEST Frozen Dry Scallops!

Growing up with fresh seafood, I am very picky about scallops. I have found East coast, cold water, flash frozen dry scallops are the best (shy of fresh, unfrozen or diver scallops). Most "fresh" grocer scallops are not from east coast U.S.A, thus they have no sweetness or meaty, tender texture. Also, many of them are very gritty no matter how much they are rinsed...not a pleasant thing! With that said, I must admit I was skeptical about Sam's Club's scallops but decided to try them because the harvest and processing information fit my requirements plus the reviews were very good. I can honestly say that my family and I were pleasantly surprised as they exceeded our expectaions. Finally, my search for good inland scallops has ended! I would not hesitate to suggest these to any true scallop junkie. I just hope Sam's Club doesn't change their source like they often do! One last thing: It is very important not to over-cook scallops! Sear about 2 minutes on each side. These scallops are so delicious they need little to no seasoning or sauce! Fabulous!

Top notch, and definitely fresh

Fresh, these were absolutely delicious. I know these are frozen, but you could tell they didn't sit around for a few days before being frozen, they were fresh like getting them straight off the dock. I lived in RI for most of my life and I felt like I was back home, these are the quality I would get from a dockside seafood market.

Absolutely Delicious!

The flavor of these sea scallops are absolutely delicious. Easy and best cooking method to preserve the lobster like taste is “pan fried in plenty of butter searing each side then cooking for only a few minutes on each side. The minimum temperature should be 145 degrees. This last time I cooked to 160 degrees and it was perfect! My preference is just butter and keeps the flavor beautiful. Enjoy

These frozen scallops are amazing, here's why

The key thing to why these are quality scallops? They are dried and frozen, not brined. You can tell because they have a variation in color. It's also why they don't shrink to nothing when cooked and are just about as full of flavor as fresh. Further, I've noticed the "foot" has been removed, unlike others. These are frankly better than the rival "upscale" warehouse in our area. Lastly, a cooking hint: after defrosted, place them on paper towels to dry the surface before placing in a hot pan with butter...let them get a good crust...do not overcook. Delicious.

Tasty

I purchased these for our Christmas Eve dinner which really is the only time we eat scallops during the year. I was shocked at the price of scallops at the supermarket, (same price fresh or frozen), so was happy to find these at Sam's being a more reasonable price (per lb). After thawing, I rinsed them thoroughly, patted dry, seasoned with salt/pepper and pan cooked with butter and oil. We didn't detect any grittyness. Will buy again, if available next year.
