Solid Purchase

Difficult to get a hold of, but worth it if you own earlier generation Xbox games. Can run games at 4K for about $550. You won’t get frame rates comparable to a PC, but PCs are much more expensive to build right now. Streaming to PC is unreal. I tried it with my old Xbox one and it was unplayable. On the series X, getting about 80mbps internet, it was virtually indistinguishable from playing on the TV. Basically looks like a tower, runs kind of hot when you feel the air out of the vents, but it’s quiet enough you won’t hear it.

Defective Blu-Ray Player. Audio and Video Loss.

Was looking forward to the XBox Series X system. However, the Blu-ray player skipped audio on the first day. Disc was brand new....(Yakuza Princess Blu-ray 4K Ultra HD). The second day, tying a different brand new Blu-ray 4K UHD disk (No Time to Die), the player skipped audio multiple times and then the video went competely black. I believe my Xbox Series X was made May 2022. OS Build 10.0.22000.4975 There are numerous internet reports of defective Blu-rayer players in the XBox Series X. Also, good to note is that the Blu-ray app on the XBox Series X is outdated and in desperate need of an update. I returned the XBox Series X the same day.

XBox Series X for the win!

I am buying both PS5 and XBox Series X. My bias is towards facts. The reviews are in, as are the technical comparisons. The XBox Series X is currently the best console of this generation. Why? SSD Speed - XBox Series X wins (for now). GameSpot did a loading time comparison of backwards compatible games. The XBox SSD loaded much faster than the PS5. With all of the talk of the PS5 SSD, I was surprised to see how much faster it was for this task. Note: Native XBox Series X games may load even faster. This is not to say the PS5 SSD is slow, just that you'll be playing games quicker on the XBox. Graphics - XBox Series X wins. The numbers don't lie. There's more horsepower in XBox to push those sweet, sweet graphics. The PS5 needs to lower the render resolution to maintain the framerate. Controller - Sony PS5. The DualSense is a game-changer--potentially. While the XBox Series X controller plays it safe with a slightly modified design, Sony completely redesigned theirs. The haptic feedback is very nice. Again, not to say the XBox controller is bad--in fact it's excellent. Just that Sony did just that much more. TV Compatibility - XBox Series X. Sony (at launch) does not have a native resolution for 1440 displays. The closest is 1080p upscaled to 1440. XBox handles this nicely. Storage space -XBox Series X wins. Sony has a proprietary 825GB SSD soldered to the mainboard. Of this, roughly 660 GB of drive space is available. Additionally, while there is an expansion slot to add an M.2 SSD, there are no Sony-approved drives AND they have disabled the expanded storage until a future firmware update is applied. XBox comes with a 1TB SSD, of which roughly 800GB of storage is available. While the external storage is propietary, the price is on-par with other Gen4 SSD storage solutions. Quick Resume - XBox Series X wins. The console automatically saves the state of the game to the SSD when switching from one game to another. Switching back is very fast and resumes right where you leave off. (Yes, it works even if the console is shut down.) Sony has nothing like this. GamePass - This is the crown jewel for XBox Series X. Yes, it is a subscription fee, and yes, the games are time-limited. However, you get several months to play them! It's as close to NetFlix for gaming so far. 3D Audio - Sony PS5 - It's really, really good! I will be playing on both. Exclusives on PS5, Exlcusives on XBox Series X, and Multiplatform will generally be Series X.

Either my Luck Sucks Or These Do...

I purchased this item specifically for DOOM:The Dark Ages to be able to play the game early. I got it the day of when early access was supposed to start, then downloaded the premium version of the game, and played it for a couple hours before going to bed. Only to wake up the nrxt day and find out the the system has bricked. It would not turn on no matter what I tried. I tried different wall sockets, tried all the suggested fixes online and nothing worked. I got two hours, I repeat two hours worth of game play out of the thing before it bricked. I am going up to my local Walmart to try and get another one since I am locked into Xbox now... The thing that really makes me mad is the fact that I bought this thinking oh it is brand new, I can avoid some of the most common issues people were having with the refurbished version,... only to have the same main issue people complain about from the refurbished versions....

Great, But With Glitches

The graphics on this are amazing. Some games are initiating a whitewash effect when fed into the Elgato 4k Pro. I suspect this will need an update to prevent this, so I'm being patient. The provided HDMI cable isn't strong enough to carry a 4k with HDR signal. Had to use a high speed Monster cable. Played on this console for 11 hours straight after purchase and had no issues with over heating. It got warm at time, but cooled back down quickly, similar to a PC. If you want to stay on top of tech or stream, this is a must buy!

only u can decide if it was worth a at launch buy.

it is as advertised. fast with load times almost non existent. And the graphics. just beautiful. now the bad, games released at launch, suck. should have done their best to have an exclusive game at launch. I have both systems still hooked up and find myself playing on the 1 still. it is worth the money, but waiting would have been just as reasonable. Dec 10. enhanced cyberpunk 2077 should make up 4 lack of games. But still will have to buy the series x version when it comes out.

Fianally available!

The box the system came in was slightly damaged in the corner. The system works and my grandson is very happy. He says it is amazing. He was pleased because he did not have to buy new games to play. He could use the games he already has on his xbox s series.

Availability

I gave this four stars only because the website was so bad. However, after a few in-store discussions at my local Walmart, I found out how to get my next-gen console. One of the employees told me that they would sell some remaining stock in store at 11 am (a few weeks after launch). I am in mountain time, and that might change depending on where you are. I went in an hour before, and I got fifth in line and secured the bag. Try to be friendly to the employees and ask for a straight answer. I know I will love my new Xbox, but the hardest part is actually getting it. Hopefully this helped. Note: only some Walmarts will sell in-store, but try anyways.

Better than the S series.

This is an awesome gaming machine. I had previously purchased an S Series and it was ok. However, as soon as I started playing the same game that I has been playing on the S (Forza Motorsport), I could immediately tell a difference in the graphics quality. My 4k TV only supports 60hZ refresh rate, but if I decide to move it to my main TV which does, I imagine I will be blown away. For now, it looks and works great where it is. Just not crazy about the physical size of this unit. Also, thanks for the $449.99 price Wal-Mart.

Amazing product. Super hard to get.

Xbox series x is amazing if you have the monitor for it. It’s worth it for the SSD alone either way though. Getting one was the difficult part. Make sure you have an account with your cc info preloaded so you’re able to get it with one click. Good luck
