Barrow life

I bought this about 8 years ago for about $49.00. I guess it was made of different material than now. It faces East during the Spring through late Fall. Then I drain the water into bottles I've saved (half gal--bucket sizes) and store the barrow in the shed through the winter. That may have saved its lifetime. I store the water in my garage and use the water through the winter for my indoor plants and to start my seedlings.

Great product for reasonable price.

Product arrived quickly and in perfect condition. Bought a separate Rain Wizard pipe kit to install it without cutting the gutter in half. Now once barrel is full, the water just runs down the water. Easy to install barrel and separate pipe. Filled quickly due to hard rain. Great for watering plants etc. This is my second one and I will get more. It is really good looking too instead of some plain blue barrel.

Great rain barrel

Great for the purpose. Only thing is it has a crack in the front lip where it didn't seal.

Good rain barrel for the price

I had the same problem as another customer did with one of the drain holes in the top leaking to the inside. I noticed this after I already had it set up with a pond pump to water mu plants so I wasn't going to go to the hassle of returning it. I just put a screw in the tubing so it doesn't leak. The holes in the cover where the water drains in were way to small to let the water run in. Half of it would run off on the ground. I just took a piece of screen and made my own cover. Works much better. I got mine ar Sam's for $49 so it was a good real regardless of the two problems I had. I have seen this same barrel online for twice that.

Appearance A+, construction C

Appearance is great, a plus too any home. The planter area on top is a great feature. BUT, there is a serious design flaw. It comes with a very nice brass hose bib that you have to thread directly into... plastic. Pretty much impossible not to cross thread and strip some plastic, and generate a leak. (Should have a bulkhead type valve instead.) Seriously; don't assume you will have better results, I'm good at that stuff and careful, and still have a slow drip.

Assess for holes before & after filling.

Rain barrel has attractive appearance with large capacity. The back of the barrel is flat for placement against a wall. It came with 2 brass faucets and gaskets for both but 1 predrilled faucet hole. There was a leak on the backside where I assume the plastic was injected into the barrel mold> I repaired it with flexseal. I positioned the rain barrel in my driveway against the house on a brick platform so I can fill buckets & watering cans.

It's Okay

This barrel is the same style as the one I replaced. I had to drill relief holes and plug others that were already made so excess water would flow away from my house. The material is lighter than the first one which lasted five years before it cracked. I wonder if this one will last that long.

Loved it until the END!

I purchased three for our new home, several of my neighbors saw them and bought them too. Theirs have long since been removed. Here's what is happening to mine. I did not keep a heavy clay pot on top... it just dried out and cracked. It's too late to run the downspout under the pavers without an expense I do not wish to have. I want to purchase another, in fact I would prefer the same unit. My other two did not do this. Perhaps this one was defective?

disapointed, back side drain holes

I just love this water barrell, but SOOO disappointed with drain holes that run out the back of it and onto the house foundation. The plantar on top of the barrell has 2 drain holes on the back side of the barrell (which I never saw in the description) so when it rains and fills up with water, water POURS out those 2 holes along the house /foundation!! Bummer, I tried to plug them with something but didn't work, I have just had to move it more out in the open, away from the house and now use it as an overflow.
