Absolute Junk and Horrible Customer Service

This freezer is made by Igloo. I purchased mine for $99 less than 1 and 1/2 years ago. It stopped working but the lights were on giving no indication it had failed. I lost over $500 worth of food. Igloo's response? Sorry about your luck, the warranty is only for 1 year. I will never buy another Igloo/Thompson freezer again.

Don't let the smaller size fool you.

I had originally wanted to purchase the 7 cu.ft. but is was always sold out so I decided to go with the 5 cu.ft. It's the perfect size for me as it turns out. It holds more than I imagined and the extra bonus for me is that it is on wheels. So far no complaints and our meat is really frozen solid.

Do Not Buy

Ours lasted 8 months. Went down to the basement on Independence day and smelled something a bit off. All the food was thawed and not cold inside. Lost about $100 worth of food. Warranty, they said you have to remove the cord, remove all the labels, take a hammer and break the lights and switch on the front of the unit. Send the cord and labels to them along with email photos of the smashed switch. Then as a "Goodwill gesture" they will do the claim. But they are not responsible for lost contents and we have to cover the cost of shipping.

Disappointing

The compressor is loud and runs almost continuously in my garage. After several days, it was moved inside believing the high temperature was responsible for the issue. There was no change . This unit was totally unacceptable and Sam's was prompt in refunding my funds.

smelly, rotten meat

It looked great initially but then when full of meat unexpectedly broke down. When I realized days later I had horrible smelly, bloody mess that was puke producing. I contacted Sam's who told me to contact manufacturer. I contacted manufacturer who told me to get a repairman. Uhhh. It's dead and smells like rotten meat. Really? I'll never buy from Sam's again.

Unit didn't last a year. Lost over $500 of food.

Bought this freezer April of 2017, it's now March 2018. I went to pull some meat out to cook this weekend and everything had thawed and was ruined. The machine didn't even make it a whole year. The "Power" lights were on so I didn't think anything of it until I opened the freezer, which was warm and smelled of rotting flesh. Must have been out for over a week... Sam's gave us a 7.1 cu ft as a replacement, but I don't trust it either. I definitely won't be filling it up like I did the last. The photo of the meat/food in the trash doesn't show just how much food we actually had to throw out. Needless to say we're frustrated, disappointed and NO, I would never recommend anyone to buy IGLOO freezers.

Misleading information

Purchased 7/8/17 for our daughter, so not enough time to use yet. Price was great, size looks good for amount of extra freezer storage & pick up at Sam's Club was really convenient. It fit down the stairs with 2 women managing it, however once it was uncrated we discovered that there were no leveling feet on this 5.1 cu. ft. model although website description states they are included. A call to customer service agreed that there were no leveling feet on this model. A piece of cardboard from the box was cut & used to level the freezer.

DONT BOTHER

I was so excited and absolutely loved this freezer and filled it up with goodies. Purchased on January 21 2021 and it died on March 14,2021. EVERYTHING had to be thrown out. I called the company (under warranty) and have not heard back yet. Not Happy at all, not even 2 months old.

leaking/arrived damaged

Smelled horribly like gas when I plugged it in. Thought maybe it was a potent new appliance smell, but it would t get cold and we then realized it had a leak. Makes me wonder if it was damaged in the shipping process or a defect when it was made. Not very convenient to return.
