This product seems to have changed over the last years. The sponge itself is much thinner, and now the green scrubbing section releases green powder all over after taking it from the package. It disintegrates and in some cases cannot be used for intentional purpose. Disappointing.

I recently ran out of Scotch Brite sponges and found a firm sponge that I thought would work just as well . Boy was I surprised ! Not only did it not do the job, it became stinky very quickly and didn't have the strength to get the stuck on messes off. So as I usually do, I bought the multi-pack Scotch Brite on my next trip to the store . From now on I want only the toughest, gentle sponges for my best pots,pans and dishes . My family has used these products forever, and I can remember using Scotch Brite Heavy Duty Scrub Sponge when I was very young cleaning up the kitchen counters and pots and pans and other hard to clean items. They last for a long time and I often have to remember to change them when they start getting funky. I just move the old one to under the sink and the one under the sink goes to the garage for my husband to use.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I love a clean sink and this heavy duty scrub sponge makes it possible with a free sample I received to evaluate. It is a little stiff but still pliable. Works well with a liquid abrasive. That’s why this will sit on the edge of my sink!!

I clean houses for a living and sometimes I need something more abrasive than some of the cleansers I use. The Scotch Brite heavy duty scrub sponges are a necessity when I clean. I have two houses in particular where I need to use the heavy duty scrubbing sponges. One house always has coffee stains in their kitchen sink. It is not a surface that I have to worry about getting scratched up. The woman I clean for is always amazed that I get those stains out. First, let me say that I abhor steel wool pads, but thought those were the only things that would get burned-on food off my pots and pans. Then came the advent of non-stick cookware (which actually isn't). I was faced with two choices -- scratch the non-stick surface or just leave the stuck food on the pot. When I found the heavy-duty Scotch Brite pads, I discovered it really was possible to have the scrubbing ability of steel wool, without the stinky, yucky mess that destroyed my pots and pans. I've been using them ever since!

Love these sponges. My husband and I use them for everything from dishes, pots & pans, kitchen counters and appliances, bathroom fixtures, including toilets, to cleaning the birdcage. The scrubby side is perfect for removing dried food or grime without scratching the surface.

My husband loves to put grated parmesan cheese in his chicken soup. It melts and covers the bottom of his bowl. This sponge removes it immediately without any elbow grease. It also cleans the spoon. I make homemade lasagna...and homemade eggplant parmigiana. I cook it at 400 degrees to assure that the cheese completely blends with the other ingredients. Unfortunately, the edges burn and get crispy. The heavy duty scotch brite sponge is the only weapon that takes off all the burnt edges on the pan without leaving me with cuts and pieces of steel wool in my fingers.
