Overall this unit met all my expectations. It worked the first time it was turned on transferring to the load correctly and shutting off. The unit looks good next to the house and has very understandable features. The unit has just been installed so will have to see over time about reliability. I would recommend this product to anyone having reliability problems with their local electric utility.

We live in SW Louisiana and decided on the Generac 22kw back up generator primarily because of name recognition in reliability and its sleek authoritative appearance. To stay ahead of the hurricane season peak, we thought it was prudent to have our portable generators serviced. When we were told one of our existing portable generators needed to be replaced it was a no brainer in deciding to opt for a whole house stand by. We also had just recently experienced an unusual several hours long outage with our electrical utility company and the inconvenience was fresh on our minds. So we made the decision and the unit was installed just two weeks before hurricane Laura struck. No one could have imagined we would be hit with a category 2-3, almost 70 miles inland with such veracity. The power grid was decimate. And when power went down at 3:30 a.m. on the morning of the storm we were ready. The swap by the transfer switch was the length of our outage, which was a matter of seconds while the rest of our neighbors endured a seven day outage in our subdivision and many others are still without power on day 11. Our whole house stand by generator has already proven itself to be well worth the investment with reliable and quality power generation. The concern of unexpected outages is a thing of the past. And as a retiree of 28 years with an electrical utility company, I have confidence in the safety the automatic transfer switch provides for the men and women who work to restore the electricity to our homes. So, it's a win, win and was just in time for the storm.

We have a 16 kW and my home and a 10 kW. Two wishes: 1. That they were quieter. Not horribly loud. 2. That the efficiency at light loads (~50%) was better. 3. Fuel consumption is specified at full & 1/2 loads. I wish I knew what is was at 25% 4. That an external wi-fi antenna could be attached. Overall, very nice.

Third one I have owned. This model is great installation was the best I have seen. Easy to understand operation. Exercise timer worked perfectly first time. If u do not using Generac u just wasting money. The one I had in Florida ran for 100 hours during hurricane in 2005. With no issues.

We love the peace of mind our new Generac provides! Already had one brief outage and it responded as advertised! The installers at Albrite Electric were extremely knowledgeable, courteous and professional! I highly recommend both the brand and installers!

The quality and features are why I purchased. My contractor, SKA Electric (Stony Point, NY), provided sound advice and I’m glad I followed his advice. Their installation was 1st class and the Generac Generator is excellent. I would certainly recommend Generac and SKA Electric contracting, quality product combined with excellent installation.

I live way out in the sticks so when the power goes out, we are the last ones to get the power restored. I have the 22KW whole home system. This is the best investment I’ve ever made, by far! Our power goes out a few times a year and sometimes it’s out for 7 or more days. About 2 weeks ago, we were hit with high winds and thousands if people were without power, but NOT US! The outage lasted for 6 days and we never knew it was off in the first place. When the power goes out, it takes the generator 20 seconds to start up and it never shuts off until the power is restored. In those 6 days, it used 105 gallons of natural gas, but it was worth every single penny. If you’re thinking about buying one, just do it. I promise, you won’t regret it!!

We are in our seventies, retired, spoiled with our toys and acutely aware of our potential for health and accident issues. We live in a hurricane prone region. Although, the generator is new and a long term review would address reliability, these thoughts are provided. This generator provides whole house power allowing us to get rid of several devices such as portable generators, lighting and coolers stored/used during power outages. The phones work, CELs charge. We no longer have to buy ice, buy and store gas, move coolers, hook up lighting, wire the frig./freezer to a portable generator and the TV works. It is not only a power source, it is a reason to get rid of several potential safety related functions during outages that we no longer need to accomplish at our age.

We have just had our whole house generator installed. The local company that installs and services your product is fantastic. They made the process very easy and our minds are a bit more at ease with the potential for winter storms and other causes of power outages. Thank you.

Two year old generator. Controller failed last week while doing the recommended firmware update. Part is covered under warranty. Electrician diagnostic charge and installing the controller is not. Just had to fork out $250. for a two year old Generac 22k unit.
