First and foremost the 29" to 40" is not quite the case. My door frame is 35". If I extend the bolts out far enough, they are at their very end and the whole structure becomes very unstable. If I add the extension, I really have to shove it in the frame and the wall cups are out of the question. And I need the wall cups as the pads slid right of the wall. Additionally, when the extension is end, if I barely push on the gate, that part bends. Definitely will not hold up to a large puppy and a toddler. Total garbage, buyer beware.

Our new puppy was chewing our wooden gate up. Then within weeks she was able to jump it without breaking a sweat. I started researching tall gates and found this on several websites at double the price. This is a sturdy gate. And very tall. There's no way she will be able to jump it even when she is full grown. It does have 4 small pieces that attach to the walls (Which I wasn't expecting). But you could take it down pretty easily if you wanted. I had this delivered to the store - which saved us $ and we have had no problems with it so far.

This is the best gate I have ever seen. It installs easily and is a great product. I love opening the gate so I don't have to take it down or jump over it. I love the extra tall feature because my dogs can't jump over it. I would fill my house with these gates. Love this product!!!

This gate is the BEST product on the market! My husband and I recently acquired a rescue dog with severe separation anxiety issues. We wanted to be able to leave him in our laundry room when we had to be out of the house for a few hours. We purchased a child/dog plastic gate and he simply jumped over it. We raised it up a couple of inches off the floor and he climbed up the diamond shaped plastic designs in the gate - therefore, we purchased a taller wooden gate. Well, he ate and clawed away at the wooden gate. We even combined the two gates (one above the other) and he clawed and chewed his way through the duct tape-repaired wooden gate. At last we found the Regalo - Easy Step Extra Tall Walk-Thru Metal Gate and our prayers have been answered. He can't do ANY harm to this gate and it works perfectly!!! Now we are all happy. I bought this same one (different color) about two years ago. It's great. Easy to install, no screws or nails in the wall cuz it's pressure mounted. Main thing you should know is that it is not 36 inches tall. It's actually 41 inches tall. So it is extra tall. I don't know why they say it's 36. That's the max width. If you read further down on the description you'll see it says 36 by 41.

I bought two of these gates. They were a breeze to install and only took about 15 minutes each. I love the height; even my best jumper/climber can't make it over. But be warned: the gate opening itself is pretty narrow. I am very pregnant and I can get through just fine, but I know some larger relatives that won't be able to. Even though they are designed to remain fixed to the wall, it won't take but two minutes to remove and replace them. The gates themselves are very sturdy. Neither of my dogs nor my toddler can knock them down or even bend them. Overall, I think these were a very good purchase.

Got this for my high energy larger breed dog to keep him away from roommate's cat who live in front half of apt. Great bc he cant jump it and I can easily walk through. Not too difficult to set up, though instructions arent the best. No tools needed beyond screwdriver. Can be taken down and moved to a new doorway. Should do only minimal damage to walls/doorway (just small holes) And the price of this compared to others was considerably lower yet it is extra high and sturdy. A great buy.

I accepted ownership of a dog that was being neglected by being left out on an apartment patio day and night, barking his head off, from the time he was a pup. While I am at work he and my first dog stay in the first bedroom with the doggie door. When I come home I let them out into the rest of the house. Then I started seeing the telltale signs this little boy was marking his territory. Tried various training methods, even had my living room area boxed off like a fort! Finally I said, this is my house and I am taking it back! With this gate in the doorway the dogs can see out but can not get out. My house is mine again!!!! I like the height of the gate also as it is at waist height and I don't have to bend down to open and close as I am coming or going. Feels very sturdy and will last many years. Whoopee!!!!!!!

This is a very good product. I use it as a baby gate to keep my 9 month old daughter out of places she doesn't need to be. It is well built and sturdy.
