Best Gate

This gate is really nice. Easy to get through (gate enclosure) No more straddeling to climb over a gate. VERY STURDY!!!! I installed just by pressure installation at top of steps for a pet. (can be installed more permanently but this is totally unnecessary, however, for a child I would install permanently for additional safety). Very good product. Would recommend to anyone who doesn't want the inconvenience of a gate to hinder their entrance/exit into an area.

worth your while

This is a must so you can feel secure your dog will not break down the gate nor escape. My very active beagle broke though a wooden gate and ate through 2 more wooden dog gates. I was going broke quickly until I found this gem. Great price, easy to install, blends into decor, couldn't beat the ease of installation, features, and price. Love that you can use one hand to operate the door and it has a locking feature. Two thumbs up!!!

Perfect Pet Gate

Absolutely brilliant! My little cavapoo puppy could never fit between the bars nor could he jump over this high gate - even though he could easily jump over a standard sized baby gate. Easy to set up, and exactly what I was looking for. The opening is just fine, I can get through it with space to spare on either side. The entrance is a big as possible given the fact that it must fit between a door opening. This product solved a major problem for such a small price. Totally worth it.

pros and cons...

the gate itself is nice, fits well in our doorway and works as it should. but I had some problems.... my cats can fit through the bars! we bought this gate to keep our cats downstairs at night so they do not disturb us while we sleep (we like to sleep with our bedroom door open) we set this gate up at the top of the stairs to our basement. The first night we found out that both cats can fit through the bars. we had to rig up cardboard with zip ties to cover the bars and make this gate solid. another issue we had is that one of our cats can jump over the gate! this is the tallest gate we could find and we still have to use a secondary baby gate and stack it on top of this gate in order to get the height we need to keep our cats downstairs. hope this review helps some people!

Not for small dogs

I bought this gate in hopes that my papillon would not jump the gate. However, it is for dorways that are 29" and over and that was not listed in the description. My doorway is 28". Also the spokes are far enough apart that he could easily squeeze through the opening between the gate opening permanent part of the gate. Perhaps this might be good for larger dogs. I returned it and purchased a different baby gate that works wonderfully. The new gate also opens both ways.

Does the job well!

I have a super tall 2 yr old that could hop any gate. This one works well cuz it's extra tall ( most stores only carry 36 in as extra tall).. The open bars are nice cuz she can see thru but not have anything to use to climb over. The walk way is a little narrow. Thankful to have sleep again, and a sleeping child!!!

great for dogs!

I bought this gate to keep my 5 month old minpin puppies in the kitchen while I'm at work. They easily jump over regular gates, so I needed one that was plenty high enough to make that impossible. This one was the right price and the right height. I rent my apt, and to avoid putting unnecessary holes, I didn't use the screws. The gate is plenty strong enough with the tension that it has been in place for 3 weeks now without budging. When I read the reviews, I was initially worried about the door opening being too narrow, as I am by far not a small woman. While it's true I usually can't walk straight through it without my hips hitting the sides, it's not like I have to suck it in and hope for the best. In fact, I'm quite comfortable walking through it, even carrying groceries through. I had no problems setting it up, and no alignment issues either. I love that the door does not automatically shut on its own, so I can leave it open while I'm at home and not have to take the gate down completely. My only issue is specific to using it for pets. The bars are a bit wide for smaller puppies, and my smaller 5 lb runt squeezed through. My larger 9 lb pup managed to push the door at the bottom enough to actually BEND the metal bars and squeeze through the then enlarged opening. That was all easy to fix though. the bars weren't really that bent and were easy to put back. I solved the escape artist problem by putting their old shorter gate up in front of this gate and doubling up. I guess some people would then say it defeats the purpose, but my only true reason for buying this gate was the height.

So far it stops my cats

I purchased this to try to stop my cats from wandering upstairs and so far none have tried to squeeze through the bars. There is only one space possibly large enough and that is at the door and it would require lots of investigation and some major wiggling. So far so good. I also decided to not use the wall cups to keep from having to patch holes since my house is for sale and it still is very stable. The only minor problem is the gate is a little narrow and you need to be careful going through when carrying things. It is very easy to remove and put back though.

could be better

This gate does the job but compared to another gate the locking process is more complicated. It is best done with both hands and the gate opening is very narrow. For the money and the location where I needed the gate, it is a good value. I would not want this in a high traffic area due to the narrow opening and more cumbersome lock.

good product- tough to install into anchors

overall the gate does the job. i am using it for a dog, about 50 pounds. i would recommend using the anchors to secure it to the wall as we noticed without them that the gate tended to slip a little on the wall with use of the walk-through section. it is difficult however to install the gate into the anchors once they are in the wall, still working on getting the last section secured. i would recommend it, especially for the value, just be prepared to put a little work into the installation and i think it will be a product used for a long time.
