[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I really wanted to like the OWYN Pro Lite Chocolate Protein Shake because I love the idea of clean, plant-based nutrition with no sugar or artificial ingredients. The ingredient list is impressive, and I appreciate how much protein it offers. Unfortunately, I just couldn’t get past the taste. It had a chalky texture and a strange aftertaste that made it hard to finish the bottle. I know everyone’s taste buds are different, so it might work for others, but it wasn’t a good fit for me.

As a drink, it’s too overpowering. Isn’t perfect health wise, however, we keep a case handy. We drink grass feed organic milk, or farm fresh milk and find a small shot goes a long way in making as close to a perfect chocolate milk. We also use a shot on our steel cut oats. One bottle last the better part of a week…depending on tastes. It feels healthier.

It still has that chalky flavor that all protein has but as far as protein drinks go, this is on par with the mom plant based ones.

Although I'm a big fan of chocolate protein shakes, and they all have slight differences, I can't handle the extreme bitter taste of this one. Some people experience it as a sweet aftertaste, but my tastebuds don't even get that far. The immediate bitterness takes over all other tastes, including the chocolate.
