Take extra insurance for bottom freezer LG frig

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this about 4 years ago and while away for three weeks the compressor went out and I came home to a disaster. If you get this kind of refrigerator make sure you take out the extra insurance. Daniel the repair guy was outstanding but they could not get hm to my house for 6 more days.

Great amount of space but NOT reliable!

I’ve had the refrigerator for two years and had it break down twice. The first time the ice maker started spilling out water and froze at the bottom of the freezer then spilled out onto floor. This last time the compressor died. We’ve been without a refrigerator for over two weeks. Tech came out and said he wanted to repair five different items that needed replacing. It’s not fully two years old! When I called for a replacement I was initially told it wasn’t possible then it was approved a few days later. I DO NOT recommend this refrigerator.

Condenser problems

Refrigerator worked great for 3 years until the condenser went up and I lost all the food in my fridge & freezer. They did come out pretty quickly to fix it at no cost to me. But I feel like for all the money you spend it should last more than 3 years.

I would recommend buying

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This fridge fit best in the space we needed to fill from a sub-zero fridge we just got rid of. Overall we like this choice. The size is great. It's deep, quiet, and looks nice. I have a few small issue with this model: 1) Can't silence or turn off open door chime! We find that very annoying. It goes off at a short amount of time which doesn't help! 2) We wish the lower slim "snack draw" would flip up so you can just grab something. Instead you have to pull it out everytime. Lil annoying. 3) The ice bucket doesn't fill front to back. Leaves about a 1.5 inch space in the front of the bucket. Also you have to get the bucket right in the official spot to collect the ice. 4) Wish it were about 3 inches taller, which would make the shelves just slightly taller to fit certain juice bottles or stacking tubs. 5) The Freezer draw was a bit more sturdy. It's all plastic and from our last freezer we tend to lean on the door. Not good! Don't lean! Overall, we're happy with the purchase! Definitely would recommend this item to anyone. Glad we didn't have to wait like so many others are now.

Decent but two huge flaws

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Fridge layout (ex freezer on bottom) is good. Compressor is underpowered and noisy. Annoying to listen to when it runs. But the absolute WORST thing is the “door is open” beep that it makes. So annoying. Imagine you’re loading in groceries and thus need to keep the door open but you have to listen to that beep the whole time. Or you open the door and take a minute to think about what you want to get out. Beeping. You need to change the beep to start off the door has been open for like 5 minutes. Clearly you forgot about it in that case and need to be reminded. That would be fine. As it is though I’m not buying another LG fridge until you fix the compressor to make them robust and quiet, and either remove the door beep or significantly delay its start

A good 1970s-ish house solution

We've had the refrigerator for about a week. I suspect a lot of you were in the same boat with a 1970s-ish house that really wasn't setup for French doors. The biggest problem is that LG evidently had an intern, who only ever owned a dorm refrigerator with beer in it, do the interior design. At the bottom of the door is a ridiculously strange micro shelf. I wouldn't be surprised if people never even saw it. There are two fold down mini shelves which are . . . strange. We still haven't found a use for them. And the bottom door shelf isn't quite low enough for a gallon of milk although it will fit. If you move the bottom shelf to the lowest position, the micro shelf is all but useless. Inside the refrigerator, any adjustment to the shelves from what's shown in the LG photos is going to make the area above the bottom shelf really small. I think they told the intern to make sure the shelves were adjustable. Making the adjustments more like 1.5" apart rather than the 3" they are today would let you raise the bottom shelf or lower the top shelf just a bit if you really wanted a bit more height for something. Unfortunately, they also must have told the intern to just put the on/off switch for the icemaker wherever they wanted so it wound up being ridiculously inconvenient. But then again, dorm refrigerators don't have icemakers! Given that there aren't a lot of options for a bottom freezer, I'm sure we'll get used to the idiosyncrasies.

Roomy but not quiet

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] In this age of noisy machinery I hope in my home not to hear the that, but this bottom fridge lrdcs2603s doesn't accomplish what I had hoped. Invasive noise emitted throughout the kitchen, living room and family room. I'd rather have less features and more quiet myself.

Love This Fridge!

This was delivered a week ago, replacing a still-functional but 18-year old unit. Very easy to set up, love the lighting, and the specialized bins. Keeps food nice & cold, and fresh. Tons of storage space, and it's SUPER quiet! The stainless steel really sparks up the kitchen, too. Glad to be rid of the black.

So far so good

I have had reservations about the freezer being on the bottom, but decided to try it. I was disappointed that it didn’t have water dispenser, but since we drink mostly bottled water I thought I’d try this one. I really don’t miss the water and I am pleased so far.
