I was so excited for this trash can when ordering it, but my hatred for the tiny space for the actual trash has trumped it all. I love the larger space for the recycling but come on! We all need a little more space for the trash. We've only had it for 3 days and I'm already so beyond frustrated with this thing! I've had to take out the little trash just about every day and we only have one little one, I can't imagine a family of 4 or 5. I can't even empty out my vacuum canister without dirt getting everywhere because the canister is bigger than the tiny trash receptacle!

Not really thrilled with this can. It's way smaller then I expected so we switched using the left for trash and right side for recycle. Now right side is too small for recycling. Overall the can is just so small for either. At this point wish I could return and get a different size.

I got this for my parents two years ago. It’s still in great condition, looks very nice in their kitchen, and they love it! I like that I was asked for a review two years later; that usually means that the company is confident in the quality of their product! The compatible garbage bags are too expensive, so they use regular bags, which works just fine.

I wish I could give it 4 1/2 stars because I really do love it. It’s just that I wish the garbage side of the pail was slightly bigger. Other than that, I love it. The recycle pail makes sense that it is bigger than the other side and it forces you to think twice about what we would be sending to a landfill and what should be recycled. The can over all was worth the price. Highly recommend. Easy to clean.

I mean, look at it! It's beautiful. I also doubted the different sizes for the recycle vs conventional trash. It works perfectly. What a fool I was to doubt the people whose business is garbage to make something so well designed and functional. Bravo, simplehuman!

I love simplehuman products but I was extremely disappointed in this trash can. I wanted a dual one so that I could use it for both trash and recycling and while this one does that, it is way too small for my use and I am a family of 2. I had to reverse the trash with the recycling as I had no room for trash in the smaller side but now the recycling side is too small for recycling. Also with my last simplehuman can when lifting out the can, I was able to rest it on a small foot inside which made it easy to change bags however there is no small foot inside on either side and so the entire can needs to come out to change the bag. Also, the cans are so hard to get out as there is no space between them so it makes it very difficult to get the cans out let alone change them. One last thing to note is the smaller trash can is not rectangular. So the bags are tight! That side is really hard also to remove and change. I also had 2 damaged cans and did not get one that wasn't damaged until my 3rd go around. I will not return it for another as I just don't want the hassle but I am already in the market to find another one. I wish I had loved it like I did when looking at it! I still love the simplehuman products just not this one.

We bought this to replace two cans this size that we were using for trash and recycle. We also got the dockable compost caddy to replace the container we kept under our sink. In the time we’ve had this can, we emptied the recycle and compost twice for one emptying of the smaller trash container. If you still put a lot of things in the trash, this probably isn’t for you, but if you’re like me and composting/recycling as much as possible, you’ll love this can!

I compared all the specs of all the recycler cans before deciding to purchase this trash can. I really love that the recycling side is so big (I believe it's the largest one, at 30L capacity). I produce very little trash, so the right trash side being so small is great for me. The step feels sturdy and the can lid does lower slowly and smoothly. I love the lock feature that allows it to stay fully open when needed for emptying its contents. It did arrive with a dent in the stainless steel outer part of it, but I just smoothed it back out from the inside and the imperfection is not visible where I'm keeping the can, so I didn't bother to contact them for a replacement during these times of the pandemic. I'm using the custom liners for the trash side, and just wiping out the recycling side with a rag and diluted vinegar when it happens to get dirty. It's so easy to clean and take care of, and makes my kitchen look more streamlined. I love it!

Love this. Used in my bedroom as a garbage cannon one side & storage in the other. Works great. Clean & classy looking. Because I sat it on carpet, I did have to level it for the lid to close all the way. Simple fix with some shims underneath. Lovely.

Love love love this the dual trash can! I considered getting the larger version (58L I think?) but chose the smaller model instead to fit my 1br apartment. This trash can is great for single people, I don’t think it would be good for a family. The trash side is the smaller, which for just me takes about a week to fill up, in larger trash cans it would take longer and then start to get stinky. When my partner is over and helping me cook it fills up in a few days. I think this trash can would be best for singles or maybe a couple if you switched the trash side to the larger recycler. I love having everything in one can, no more unsightly paper recycling bag on the floor
