taller than all other gates we found

This gate is taller than any other gate we could find. I checked all kinds of websites & stores and this was the tallest we found. It was around $50 & well worth it. No other gate we tried has stopped our 2 year old climber from getting over them until this one. The only issue we have had with this one is he put his legs through the bars the first few days and he fell and tripped over the middle part that runs across the floor when it is open. So as long as you are right there when they walk through the gate Im sure that would help.

Ordering another gate

I purchased 2 gates a couple of years ago to keep our four dogs contained, especially our shepard who went right over the previous gates we had -- extra tall works very well and can be opened with ONE HAND, even when in the locked position. Rubber cup is screwed [attached] to the inside of the door frame and the receiving cup is adjusted by a cup with a screw coming out of the gate.

A great gate for an active puppy.......

The first gate I ordered had a break in one of the cross members (a faulty joining process). `Returned it, got a refund, and ordered another one. The replacement works great and is high enough (41"} to keep my Jack Russel puppy from jumping over it. The gate door works easily and latches securely too. The puppy has tried valiantly to get through and over it, but to no avail. `Gave 4 stars instead of 5 because I got a "lemon", but I`m happy now.

extra tall gate

I bought this product to keep my dog out of the kitchen. it is too tall for her to jump over but she is able to see me. which i think she likes since she sits there and stares at me. I am 5 ft 5 and the gate comes to my rib cage. I sometimes babysit a 3 and 5 yr old. the gate is as tall as the 3 yr old and he hasnt figured out how to open it. the 5 yr old has. The only down fall on the product it the width of the gate. We can fit threw fine but if you have to carry something you have to lift it up over the gate. After seeing this at our home my brother in law is buying on for their 1 yr old to keep her out of harms way. they love coming here and being in the kitchen and knowing while we are cooking the baby is safe in the next room and we can see her.

Small gate opening - but easy to install.

I gave it three stars for a few reasons. The locking mechanism is cheap plastic. The opening is small, if you're over a size 14 it'd be tight. If you're shorter and carrying the baby you couldn't get through. It is thick metal and easy to install.

great gate, screws are too cheap and strip easily

love the gate. I got it to use for my 3 1/2 year old's bedroom so she can't get out at night. my 6 year old can't even climb over it. when putting it together, i realized how horribly cheap the screws are, use your own because these ones will strip easily. so easy that it took one time of using my drill to get the screw in, and tried to get it out, nope, already stripped.

Wonderful!!!!

We got this gate to have a "safe area" for our paralyzed dog. We didn't want her near our large dogs while we weren't home. This gate was perfect! It's tall enough that our 80 lb dogs can't even think about getting over it. I am overweight and easily fit through the gate turning sideways. I've not had any problems. I'm 5'8". The only problem I ran into was that there is a slightly smaller than normal gap between the door framing and outside of the gate. The gap is too small for an extension but large enough that it makes the gate a tiny bit loose. I don't think it will be an issue. If we have to, we will get a small piece of wood, paint it the color of the moulding (white) and put that between the frame and screw to stabilize it. I don't think we'll need to though. Some people may run into issues with the size of their doorframe not fitting properly. Just know that you can buy smaller extensions than the one that comes with this product. They're about $10-$15.

Secure

It is for pretty good use. Has all tools to install and can be pressure mounted or secured on to the wall. Only downside is that you open the gate and it has a trip line, I tried to use for my stairway and it didn't work, so I had to buy the one intended for the round banister and that worked! No trip line

China

This is a nice looking gate. The opening is barely wide enough for an adult to pass through without turning. It is cheaply constructed and i regret buying it over another model I've purchased from Sam's. It would make an ok pet gate as long as you don't have a big jumpy dog. My 2 year old toddler also figured out how to unlatch and open it first 30 minutes installed. Less than 2 prolly can't get it but what's the point of it being so tall?

Well made... but does not fit opening!

I do like how this gate is made... sturdy and fairly easy to open up with one hand (but not so easy as a kid could do it...). The main problem is that it is very difficult to set up in my home. We have an older townhome, with stairs that have a metal railing. That is only one part of the problem. I had hoped to secure the 3 corners and see how well it settled, and go from there. Unfortunately, the gate without the small expansion is much too small for the opening, and with the expansion, is just a bit too large to be able to use the "cups" that secure the gate to the wall. SO, we had to forgo the wall cups. Also, the gate has to be tightened JUST right, so as not to block the door from opening. This means the gate, at least in our situation, isn't quite sufficiently tight to the walls and rail. I cannot fix the width of the opening problem which means it will never be as sturdy as it should be, but i will be able to jury-rig the metal railing/tightening issue with some strategically placed zip ties. Hopefully you would not have any problems with this gate, as our situation is probably pretty rare. Good luck.
