The sales ad did not state that in order to securely stabilize this walk-thru gate that you had to screw the four plastic dowels into your wall or doorway opening. I am a dog breeder and the various gates I have purchased have been operated on gate pressure. So far, I have refused to make holes in my home and this gate slips and slides out of place very easily. While my puppy is young, this may work for a short time. My puppy will grow to be in excess of 75 pounds and is growing stronger and heavier weekly. I have to decide whether or not to make the screw holes to give the gate an unknown security level. I wish I would have known this in advance of purchasing this gate. Soon I will have to make a decision whether or not to exchange the gate for another type of gate or to screw in the dowels, which will make the gate a semi-permanent fixture. I wish I would have known this prior to purchase.

I bought this same one (different color) about two years ago. It's great. Easy to install, no screws or nails in the wall cuz it's pressure mounted. Main thing you should know is that it is not 36 inches tall. It's actually 41 inches tall. So it is extra tall. I don't know why they say it's 36. That's the max width. If you read further down on the description you'll see it says 36 by 41.

I'm using it for a dog, not a baby. Its probably better suited for a baby. When my dog gets bigger she's going to be able to knock it over easily. The tension system and rubber holders isnt the greatest. It looks nicer than the smaller wooden ones but I think those have better rubber tension grips. Overall, so far so good!

The installation of this gate was very simple in comparisson with other gates i have installed before. It is taller than the average baby gate so I can rest-assured that my lil one won't be toppling over the top of this gate either. The fact that it swings open makes it easy to get through for the adults and older children in the house (ages 5 + ). If you are going to use this gate for the top of stairs, as I did, I would recommend either using the little circle mounts to make it a bit more secure, or "Mighty Putty" on each of the 4 surfaces that meet with the wall. I used Mighty Putty and that has worked great to keep it a bit more secure, and i can rest assured that my lil guy won't push it over. Great baby gate!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I love that this gate is black. It has good size. It is easy to assemble and almost no tools required. It’s tall enough for kids not to be able to jump it. We had a shorter gate and my niece would jump it over due it being too short with this gate I don’t have any problems.

Before buying this gate, I read all the reviews to see if people said it was effective for cats. At least a couple of reviewers said it worked well for theirs, which is impossible to believe unless they have REALLY large cats, REALLY stupid cats, or the product has been redesigned since their reviews. My cats walked right through, and they're average-size. So disappointing. Especially so since I had to buy two--the first arrived without the six-inch extension. However, WalMart did give me an adjustment on the price when I complained. If you're buying this for a child or mid-sized dog, it's worth a try. It seemed like a quality product for the price, and it's the tallest walk-through gate I found. I was planning to install mine a few inches off the floor for a little extra height.

I really wanted to like this baby gate, unfortunately it doesn't fit a standard 32" doorway. The instructions state there can be no more than 2" between the gate and door frame but installation leaves a little less than 3" on either side. This would be fine for some uses (e.g., pets) but if you have small kids who might hang on the gate, it's definitely not secure enough. I checked the manufacturer's website to see about possibly buying the smallest extension but it's for openings 34". That said, I'll still give this a decent rating because the gate looks nice and installed easily. It's just disappointing that it does not fit the range of openings stated.

I purchased this product to keep the dog in the kitchen & out of the rest of the house. The wood & plastic gate we had before, the dog chewed a hole in and he could jump over it and when the kids wanted to get in the kitchen, they had to climb over it. Not very safe. Now, I don't have to worry about the dog chewing up the gate or jumping over it, I just have to worry about the kids leaving it open. I would recommend this product for pets, I'm not sure about kids though, but I suppose any 4 year old could figure out how to work it. When shopping for a new gate, I found this same gate at a pet supply store for double the price of this.

I bought this to keep my 2 cats out of my bedroom and it works like a charm. Its easy to set up and easy to use. My cats haven't tried to jump on it or over it. Like the other reviews, my only wish was that the door was wider. It works fine though and I have no problem going in and out of it. Walmarts price was much less than others online too which was a plus.

I was very excited about this gate because of so many good reviews. Yes, it is very tall as how I wanted it. However, there are few things. The gate is very narrow to walk through especially when I had to carry a sleeping child. The lock is a little difficult to open. You have to use both hands. Again with a child in my arms, it is hard to do it. And it is made of a cheap plastic. I might be returning it.
