This gate works great for kids and pets.

This gate was a replacement for an old Evenflo position and lock wood safety gate. The dogs liked to chew on it too much and the little dogs could jump over it. This walk through gate removes both of those issues from the equation. They cannot jump over it and since it is metal, they do not chew it. The walk through handle can be locked down or left unlocked but it still holds the gate closed so you can get through with a laundry basket or what ever you may have in your hands. The opening is a bit narrow so you will have to lift some things over it to get wider objects through but that is not a big deal when you are not having to step over the gate which is what we were having to do with the old one. This gate works great for kids and pets and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a nice gate.

Perect for what I needed it for

I got this to keep my newly rescued puppy out of the finished basement. I am happy with the quality and ease of installation. My own fault, but the one I got was not wide enough for my stairway, so I had to make some modifications because the puppy could get through one side. I'm sure as he get bigger it will be fine. This has helped me out so much! Glad I decided to get it.

Toddler unlatched it within 2 minutes

Toddler, 2 years and 8 months, unlatched it within 2 minutes, while I was in another room. Luckily I glanced over to “make sure” all was fine and saw toddler before they reached a danger point, ran to them just in time. Exchanging for a gate with a double lock mechanism.

Okay for the price

This gate fell a little short of meeting my expectations, but does the job. It was fairly easy to install and relatively secure, but the addition on the side is not as firm and stable as I had expected. When my toddler grabs the gate it has quite a bit more give than I was anticipating and if I tighten it any more the gate won't open. I do like that it doesn't have to be locked to be closed securely. I imagine when my little boy can actually reach the latch it will have to be locked so I'm glad I picked the tall one!

Great gate...love it!

I bought this to semi-block a doorway, separating a new cat in my household from the previous residents. All my cats are adult and none are tiny, so I didn't have an issue with them squeezing between the bars. A small boned cat or dog might be able to do so. The gate has worked just as I'd hoped. The cats are now used to seeing one another and when the resident was ready to be with the whole group, she jumped out over the top! I did not use the wall cups and it will push out of the door if force is applied against it. Perhaps the cup would prevent this, but it's not an issu for me since I'm not using it for children. The gate fits on one side of the door frame, so I can still shut the door. It was easy to install and arrived quickly. I'd highly recommend.

More recommended for pets not a smart 2 year old

Nice in size it does stop the dogs from climbing over that was my reason for purchasing. I bought this to replace the other walk-through baby gate I had. the dogs are five months old Rottweiler and Doberman mix and were able to climb over the other gate. there were no spots in the other gate for them to put their feet on to help them climb over they are just that tall. It is a narrow opening but I weigh 240 and I am able to go through there. I highly recommend this to block pets not for anyone with a smart 2 year old it's very easy to open for a toddler. Its easy set up so easy to open that my five-year-old grandson can reach the top and figure it out.

Came preused

The delivery was perfect, came right on time. Product was easy to build and is sturdy even without screwing them into the walls. My only issue is there was a bar broken on one end that I had to tape back together implying that this product came preused. I should not have to pay full price for something someone else broke.

Disappointing

We realized, after assembling, the opening to step through was too narrow to accommodate a person carrying groceries or anything else. Also, it didnt seem especially easy to unlock to step through without freeing up a hand, unlike foot activated locks (although we didnt really try to unlock it once we realized how narrow the opening was!).

Waste of money

I would never buy or recommend this gate to anyone. It's almost impossible to walk through because of how narrow the doorway is. It's definitely not for someone who has a little bit of weight to them. Maybe that's why there's a tall skinny person on the picture. And the bottom bar across the floor is a hazard. I can't keep track of how many times someone tripped over it. I took it down and bought a full open gate. No floor bar, and was very easy to install. A little bit more expensive, I think, but it is worth it.

easy to set/up use

There's nothing wrong with the gate. It works properly. I have 2 now. Just be sure you measure accurately for where you are placing it. I forgot to measure the distance between the baseboard and it's too short by 1/2" with the extension provided but all the way to the ends at the top without the extension so it doesn't hold well. I had to raise it above the baseboard which means I have to step over it all the time. It's not good to have to step over a 4" high bar when you have elderly people in your home. It's not the gates fault.
