I had my pergola erected last Saturday, and it's just beautiful. I love it. I've gotten a lot of comments on it already. If you follow the directions closely, install the BILT app, and watch the video, it really does go up easily. It took a contractor with two helpers 4.5 hours to put it up, and they said there were no problems.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Bought this in June as part of redoing our backyard and we loved it over the summer. Everyone that we have had over thinks it is great looking and a real value. Our contractor was amazed by the quality of the kit and had no trouble setting the footings in the new pavers. The service from BYD has been so good that we also bought one of the large Grill Gazebos which let me keep grilling during a really wet winter here in Northern California.

The new pergola has made a huge difference in the appearance and usability of our back yard. The build took around 5 hours from boxes to built and was super easy to do. We're looking into adding the Saxony XL grilling gazebo down the road as well, in part because of how well-manufactured and easy the pergola project went.

Last summer we finally got to realize our dream of having a backyard pergola. I researched designs and priced materials for building my own from scratch, and then I looked online at kits to compare. I am so glad I did! The Backyard Discovery kit cost less than the wood alone for building my own, and the assembly was super easy. The only tricky part was anchoring it to our patio: the provided anchors kept stripping so I had to replace with stronger ones. But other than that small issue everything else came together really well. And we love sitting outside in our new outdoor living room!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] After spending a lot of money on a contractor to landscape my back yard, I decided I would purchase a pergola kit and save some money and put it together myself. I was not disappointed with the look and style of the pergola. It did take some time to ship and arrive which could have been better but once it arrived it took just about as much time as they predicted to put it together, but the end result was beautiful!

We've had this for awhile now. It's not exactly what the intended use was going to be, but we decided to go with an entertainment space (was originally doubled to use as covered carport but my SUV was too big). We are very pleased. It is well built (though the top boards could be a little sturdier). It has ample room for entertainment space and we've really enjoyed using it! It was also super easy to put together.

Our home is always changing--inside & out; & every change creates a new "pop":. This time we added a room!! It all started after switching out the last section of old board decking to brick, matching the rest of the existing bricked deck--improving both the look & function of our yard. But, looking out at the expanse of this all brick deck, even with colorful furniture & our usual riot of plants, something was missing. Somehow, we needed to frame that section, a place where we entertain and also shelter a lot of plants. (I'm a gardener). It's Florida; summer sun is merciless on human skin and, more importantly, all of our plants shriveling in our summer heat; they can't hop up and escape into the AC. What we needed was a pretty shelter from direct sun; we needed a pergola! And this baby is a champ. Ordering was easy, the perfect size for our spot, delivery on time; my husband Bill added 2 applications of weather coating, we hired the brick guys to assemble it (we are old :-)). And now we have more than a pergola; it is a ROOM-- partly nestled under our old magnolia, decorated by our happy shaded plants, and furnished by our colorful furniture (I am a painter), the pergola frames it all and creates the perfect space whose form is lovely and which functions to give us what we needed: a solid, sturdy, shade-providing structure. We already have subprojects planned: our copper pelican perches on the top corner; to add even more shade, we are installing lattice panels over the widely spaced roof slats, and we are adding electric outlets for some good old Florida fans, also hanging solar lights to line the top structure. Backyard Discovery must have made improvements to the QA of this product because mine fit together perfectly! The most time consuming part was re-staining it to fit the look I was going for, but it was well worth it. I was able to set it up over the course of an afternoon and couldn't be happier with the end result. At this price point and the ease of setup, I wouldn't recommend any other pergola.
