The pergola looks awesome and despite my inexperience, I got through most of the assembly in one day with a little help. However, anchoring it to my existing concrete slab has become a nightmare! I followed the directions exactly, but a 3/16” pilot hole drilled plenty deep enough for the supplied screws does not get the job done. I’ve vacuumed out the holes and still the screws won’t go more that halfway into the concrete. It’s very frustrating to be so close, but be unable to finish the anchoring process.

We bought this last month and we are so happy we did! My husband put it together in one afternoon. It went together pretty quickly, there were a few holes that didn't line up but we expected some hiccups. It fits perfectly over our stock tank pool and looks beautiful!

For the convenience of buying this pergola with all the pieces cut and pretty sanded already for a DIY assembly, as well as it being nice cedar, it truly does hit all the marks. The ambiance is quite beautiful and it is a great addition to our yard. It is pretty easy to assemble with two people. Of course, read your instructions and plan your assembly. It can be easy to confuse your pieces and the perspective in the diagrams so be careful. It took one day to assemble everything. There are a few extra hardware screws and washers included, which is great. You also might need a step ladder to hold up a key piece with a two person team to make it easier to bolt down. As I learned from another reviewer, order a can of matching stain free from Backyard Discovery for the inevitable touchups. I also had a couple of pieces with a chunk broken out or a smash, which were thankfully easy to get replaced and shipped out for free from Backyard Discovery. Also, I found it quite worth it to use a good exterior varnish to protect the pergola. I used the "M" name brand that ends in ""X" of their Spar Urethane Clear Gloss varnish (but make sure it is the oil based version if you use it, as the water based version is not good). Another reviewer said to varnish before assembly, which I realized rather fast that it takes forever, drips everywhere, sticks, creates skin, etc. So I varnished after assembly of all the lower sections except the numerous thin perlin slats that go on top, and got at least one coat on before the pergola spent too long in the sun and rain. I am going to finish two more spar urethane coats this season. Also, I ordered this pergola from Sam's club and it was easy to get service from BD afterwards. For those who might ask, is it worth it? I would say after staging everything around the pergola, such as potted plants and chairs for our yard, it is quite well worth the purchase. I think our photos prove that point. Btw, it did not really need the purlins installed to complete a good look and is perfectly functional without them. Also, we thought at first... would the dark walnut color work? And we soon realized, yes indeed. Enjoy!

We put three pergolas side-by-side on our back deck after losing all our trees to a windstorm. It has enhanced the beauty of our home. It provides a beautiful family gathering place. We added a king size sheet to the center for extra shade until are honeysuckles grow up into the roof of the Pergola. I especially like the multi level top; the cross beams are aesthetically pleasing. Using multiple kids gave us the opportunity to see that not all holes pre-drilled holes lined up and it’s difficult to get them perfectly squared. We tried hanging hammock chairs from the frame and that was too much weight and had to remove those. Overall very pleased with the look of the three pergolas side-by-side. We have them standing on a composite wood deck and they slide very easily.

Put this together over two days by myself. Construction was easy, and all holes and hardware matched up perfectly. The instructions in the app were clear and easy to follow. Normally when assembling things, I’ll make a mistake or two and have to disassemble and reassemble parts. This wasn’t an issue due to the interactive nature of the app. The existing finish was adequate, and I added another two coats of stain to be sure that it was protected. It’s been up for about 8 months, and it looks just as good today as it did when I assembled it. This is a good sign since the sun in Phoenix can be brutal. Of course, I can’t say how it holds up in wet environments. I’m thinking about trying to order another set of small slats for the top to increase the shade provided. I will check the hardware for tightness at the one year mark, but so far everything seems tight and sturdy. I would recommend this pergola to anyone.

We purchase the Somerville 14 x 10 Pergola from Sam's Club last August. It took about 3 weeks to arrive, but it did come earlier than the expected time. The instructions were straight forward. I assembled this with the help of a friend. My wife did lend us a hand at some part during the assembly. We unboxed the pergola and did a quick parts check to make sure everything we needed was there. It took us one afternoon to put it together and we were able to finish before sunset. It has been a great addition to our backyard along with our turf install and pool and spa.

I have looked out the widow every day, all winter long, looking forward to being able to sit outside and enjoy it! Finally, that time is here. We were able to sit outside yesterday and have dinner in the evening in our pergola. I love the bonus that there is an outlet. We hung some very cute Edison bulb lights that really add to the charm and ambiance! So happy with this purchase!

I bought this pergola to bring some shade to my outdoor kitchen. Like most pergolas it provides wonderful shade in the morning and early evening, and dappled shade from about 11 to 2. This dapples shade is still more comfortable than full exposure. Plus the pergola makes my outdoor kitchen area look so very cozy.

We bought the pergola to give us some shade and help complete our patio. This is a great set. There were a couple dings in a few pieces of wood but nothing major. Instructions were easy and clear. Hardware is labeled in each package. Two people it is doable but we had a third person and it went together quick. I think the hardest part was anchoring to the concrete. If you are debating on this pergola, I'm here to say do it. You will love it. I also took advantage of sealing it before putting it up. Remember folks this is part of the warranty. Easier to do before it is together the first time.

Great Pergola. Pretty solid. putting it together wasn't difficult. The provided paper instructions in my opinion was confusing but the app was excellent on instruction guidance. The slotted joist pre-drilled screw holes did not match the other predrilled holes to mount on. Some wood pieces were little warped but that's expected of wood. Overall I would recommend this Pergola. Would be nice to know what the finished sealer is so I can do some touch ups.
