Best in years

The one I got were from Texas and were wonderful. The melon was ripe, and super tasty. Compared to so many imports, and early pics that are not ripe and taste like dirt this was the real deal. I never thought I would pay six bucks for a watermelon but in todays market this was worth having a real one. I will buy as many of these as I can eat before they are gone.

GREEN! GREEN! GREEN

I grew, sold, and bought produce for many years including to stores, I raised my kids doing this. I have to say that after buying melons from Sam's five times not once did I get even a so so melon! Each one was unripe, several were unripe and pethy. Once a melon is picked it never ripens it only begins to rotten. One sign I always looked for when raising melons was for the stem to fall off the melon when it was moved, it was never cut. When a melon is ripe the stem will fall off. Another sign is what is called a sugar ring, it is a ring around the stem showing that sugar has begun to set. Now this varies in the type of melon, so it is not always a sure thing, but the stem falling off is a sure thing so a cut stem means the melon was picked before it was ready! Sam's suppliers are not worried about quality melons only getting them from field to market as soon as possible . Quality to me is more Sam's responsibility than the producers, the reason I say this is that when I bought melons my family and I examined the produce before accepting it. Yes I grew much of my produce but you have to buy throughout the season, what matters is that you care enough about your customer to have a quality product to know your producers and visit them from time to time. It won't happen every time you will make a mistake that is why I bought so many melons from Sam's to see if they would care enough about us to change, they didn't! They do have a great return policy but personally I would rather have great produce.

Watermelon

Missed the mark big time. Your current batch of watermelons are truly are work of art as viewed from the exterior and the interior. However, the texture was hard like an apple and tasted very unusual. I was horrified, I will not buy any more melons from Sam's.

Return Horrible Tasting Watermelons for a REFUND

We've bought watermelons at Sam's Club and Walmart many times. About a third of them are horrible tasting. The one we bought at Sam's Club on May 25, 2024 is horrible! It cost more than $7 including tax. I'm tired of wasting my money when a watermelon isn't edible. Therefore, I'm going to return this one and get a refund. I'm going to get the "packaging" out of my compost pile, and take it and all the insides back to the store.
