Don’t let the appearance of the homely cantaloupe in bulk packaging fool you! I’ve bought a dozen or so over the past year and have been impressed with their consistent high quality, throughout the seasons. There are usually a larger than avg 12 or 15 count size, meaning they are usually more mature then the most common size in foodservice, the smaller 18 count case size. Mature melons have a better chance of being well formed internally with a thicker flesh, lower void, and most importantly, be tender, juicy, and have a sweeter flavor. Mature picked melons will also ripen better. Let yours sit out at room temp for a few days until it softens just a little. You’ll be in for a real treat!

As far as cantaloupe go, this specimen did not stand out as exceptional. I would classify it as one of your "run of the mill" examples of that particular species of cantaloupe. Not too ripe, not too green. I really don't know what else to say without repeating myself.

This Cantaloupe was very hard even after it had sit on my counter for 1 week. I peeled and cut it up as i usually do for my family, but ended up throwing 50% of it away because it was so hard and had no taste. What has happened to Sam's good produce? Food costs to much to have to throw out because of it being bad from the store.

Again, if you saw my post on the wstermelon, you’re in the same territory here with the cantaloupe. The last one we picked, was slimed once we cut into it and it was the day after we purchased it. I think Sam’s orders too many of there and does not get rid of them quick enough. Your choice! Take a chance on it and you could be a winner, or NOT.

I searched through the large box of them and picked what I thought like the best ripened one. I even waited three days of it sitting on the counter before cutting it up, about a inch above the seeds was the sweetest, but the rest wasn't sweet at all.

Ordered cantaloupe to pick up at the club. This is the 2nd time the cantaloupe was bad. Seemed like it had been dropped. I wish there was a way to ask them to pick a large round one with no bruises. Will need to go into club and puck out my own next time. Same thing with the watermelons. They're always real small and not sweet. Lesson learned.

I got this melon, looks delicious I wait exactly 3 days for opening, because I am to busy working, and then they get something wired I put attention and is rotten, I can’t even open , if I can said something better than this is a tell people please we aware of Sam’s fruit now because is not fresh,Everything is Freeze and your money is practically on the trash , sad I spent to much money and fruit and I throw all :(

The last two have been juicy and delicious. I’m a big fruit eater, and share with my Pits. It’s nice to help me cool down, due to overheating at the drop of the hat. From spring to fall the weather keeps me down. Can’t breathe with our humidity. So having lots of fresh fruits cut up and ready to eat is a must in my life. The last two haven’t been large, but they are very sweet and juicy.
