Orgain's dairy based chocolate nutrition shake is delicious, so I tried the vegan version because my family prefers dairy free options and it has a different vitamin/mineral mix. Unfortunately we don't like the taste of the vegan version at all, it has a weird aftertaste, it's chalky, and it's bitter. It was so bad compared to the dairy version I thought the vegan shakes I got might have gone bad somehow. I won't be trying them again to find out though!

But the high dose of iron is what I need and that's the purpose of the swap from the vanilla shake. Also, the chocolate flavor makes the iron taste tolerable.

The texture is smooth and just thick enough to have some body and a nice mouth feel. It may just be my body, and at the risk of sharing TMI, I think they have a slight laxative effect, similar to a morning cup of coffee. For me, that's a good thing. I also don't experience the gas and bloating that I have with other brands of shakes. I am vegan so I keep an eye on my nutritional intake in order to avoid deficiencies. These shakes provide me with a healthy security blanket.

After living thru hurricane Helene, I decided I needed to do more to prep. This is no refrigeration required and still tastes great as well as nutritional content makes this a "no brainer".
