This pergola is a very solid piece, everything structurally has held up wonderfully. My only complain would be that the stain comes off easily we have quite a few spots the stain is just missing in which is frustrating but can easily be fixed with a coat of stain.

For the convenience of buying this pergola with all the pieces cut and pretty sanded already for a DIY assembly, as well as it being nice cedar, it truly does hit all the marks. The ambiance is quite beautiful and it is a great addition to our yard. It is pretty easy to assemble with two people. Of course, read your instructions and plan your assembly. It can be easy to confuse your pieces and the perspective in the diagrams so be careful. It took one day to assemble everything. There are a few extra hardware screws and washers included, which is great. You also might need a step ladder to hold up a key piece with a two person team to make it easier to bolt down. As I learned from another reviewer, order a can of matching stain free from Backyard Discovery for the inevitable touchups. I also had a couple of pieces with a chunk broken out or a smash, which were thankfully easy to get replaced and shipped out for free from Backyard Discovery. Also, I found it quite worth it to use a good exterior varnish to protect the pergola. I used the "M" name brand that ends in ""X" of their Spar Urethane Clear Gloss varnish (but make sure it is the oil based version if you use it, as the water based version is not good). Another reviewer said to varnish before assembly, which I realized rather fast that it takes forever, drips everywhere, sticks, creates skin, etc. So I varnished after assembly of all the lower sections except the numerous thin perlin slats that go on top, and got at least one coat on before the pergola spent too long in the sun and rain. I am going to finish two more spar urethane coats this season. Also, I ordered this pergola from Sam's club and it was easy to get service from BD afterwards. For those who might ask, is it worth it? I would say after staging everything around the pergola, such as potted plants and chairs for our yard, it is quite well worth the purchase. I think our photos prove that point. Btw, it did not really need the purlins installed to complete a good look and is perfectly functional without them. Also, we thought at first... would the dark walnut color work? And we soon realized, yes indeed. Enjoy!

It has a electrical outlet so I can plug in lights ,margarita machine... I had the company assemble it and was done within 2 hours. They were wonderful. Every day after work I spend about 3 hours there enjoying it! My only regret is not getting it SOONER! If u like it on website, you will love it in your yard. YOU WONT REGRET IT! I purchased this pergola several months back but had to wait for my brother to come into town before I could set it up. Took about a day and a half for us (65 & 69) to get it set up. Not difficult at all. Added some lattice on the top and I now have some extra shade on my house.

We love our pergola and it is very sturdy and functions really well in our backyard. The power outlets are a huge plus! Great quality and my husband assembled it completely alone (I wouldn’t recommend that but he’s stubborn and wanted to prove a point). 2-3 people is probably ideal to complete it efficiently. It also holds a 50 ft rope of string lights nicely.

We’ve had this pergola for a year now and we still absolutely love it. It adds the perfect structural element to our new backyard concrete patio. Hang some lights for some fabulous night time ambiance. The only negative I would have to say - the instructions say 2-3 people to assemble, but I was happy we had a 4th person to help with the step where you have to stand the very heavy leg posts up; that part was really tricky and impossible for us with only 3 people. Otherwise the assembly was straight forward. We are very happy with our purchase!

This was delivered easy-peasy and, though it took some time, was simple for 2 people to assemble. It is sturdy and, in Florida's high winds, isn't likely to go anywhere. We love this pergola!. It took our backyard area to a new level, beauty and usefulness.

The delivery was on the exact date and time as arranged. Good start. The cardboard wrapping around the product (there were two long boxes) was heavy duty thereby protecting the product from shipping damage. There was no damage. That wonderful smell of fresh cedar permeated the room so I new the product was of good exterior quality. When we opened the boxes, it looked like some sort of AI (artificial intelligence) had packed them. A work of art in itself. I began to realize that this pergola package might be of high quality after inspecting the hardware. It was heavy and of high quality, individually labeled and it was all there. There were also paper instructions concerning the assembly which were reasonable but a hair intimidating. But fear not. Here’s the part that blew my mind. They include software by BILT intelligent instructions which you can download on your phone or iPad that show you step by step in a CAD format each step of the way. The pergola turned out fabulously.

It went together nicely with the help of 3 adults. It was solid and very well made. I believe that this helped us get top dollar for our home. I miss it greatly and only wish I could have a new one for my new home. I would not hesitate to purchase this as it is made to last. We put a waterproof wood sealant on it per from the manufacturer. I got so many compliments on this beautiful structure. You will not be disappointed in your purchase. I was happy that everything went together without issue. All the screw holes aligned perfectly.

I was surprised at the quality of the materials. The flawless stained finish was uniform and durable. The hardware was complete and easy to work with. Instructions were clear and thorough. Assembly is straightforward if you pay attention to the directions. The only thing I can criticize is that one of the reabbertsd on a rafter was cut too short, but that was easily fixed with a handsaw.
