You have to be careful to choose the highly marbled steaks that are more pink instead of dark red

Based on the reviews, the quality of these steaks must vary by region. The Prime New York Strips we've been getting at the Beavercreek Ohio location have been consistently excellent. The marbling has been really nice on these, and the taste has been great. We have been comparing these to the Prime New York Strips our local Costco sells, and we prefer the ones from Sam's. We've noticed a bit more waste on the Sam's Club ones, but Sam's isn't resorting to a mechanical tenderizer like our local Costco does. Overall, we're very pleased Sam's is selling prime steaks.

I bought ten (10) strip steaks for the holiday boy was my family & guests disappointed. I asked the butcher to cut em 1.5” which he did w/o question. We then grilled em to med. These were the worst slices of beef I’ve ever eaten in all my 60 years. They were supposed to be the prime cut not the choice. I’d say these weren’t even choice. Fat galore. Cooked nice but fatty fat very chewy. Horrible out of the ten steaks not one was even close to being completely eaten. Sam’s club used to have a good cut but not any more. $188 worth of fat and gristle. Been a Sam’s club member for 24 years but l won’t be buying any more prime meat there. Do not recommend.
