Customer reviews for Duracell Automotive Battery, Group Size 24F forMember photos
Lasted less than 2 years
Purchased this in July 2013 for $85 for our 2009 Odyssey. Started having issues with starting in early Feb 2015. Took the van to Honda to have them check it out. They tested the battery and said it was OK. A week later the van would not start. Called AAA who tested it and said it had a bad cell. I'll give it 2 starts because it worked well for half it's life.
Auto Battery
I was in the market for an automotive battery for my wife's car (2007 Kia Amanti). I actually went to a different retailer at first due to the reviews I had read; however, that plan didn't work out. At this point, my wife and I decided to go to Sam's; mainly because we've always been treated right at Sam's Club, and we know that what ever type/brand they sell, it would have a great warranty. We were surprised to find "Duracell" brand automotive batteries at Sam's! I'm not familiar with Duracell auto batteries, but I know their regular batteries are the best. We were presently surprised at the price, and as we suspected, the warranty was as good as any brand in the industry (3 yr. free replacement and 8 year pro rated after that). After doing some research on Duracell automotive batteries, and finding out they're made by East Penn, a huge battery manufacture in the UNITED STATES of AMERICA, we mad the purchase from our local Sam's. We haven't had the battery very long, and I usually wait until after some use before I write a review, but I feel very confident about this purchase. Duracell is one of the biggest and best names in batteries, and Sam's Club is one of the biggest and best retailers with the best battery warranty per price in the business. How can I go wrong!
24f Duracell
Battery just failed on a cross country trip at 3 years 4 months. The Casper Wyoming Sam’s club installed replacement battery in 15 minutes. I called ahead to confirm that battery was in stock as I couldn’t turn off car without a jump and was 200 miles away from Casper. The staff was extremely helpful and understanding of my situation
Bad Battery
I bought 2 batteries for my F250 in 2017. Batteries lasted little more then 1 year and I got free replacement 07/2018. 03/2021 batteries died again. This time there is no warranty. 4 batteries in less then 4 years in Texas. I won’t recommend this batteries to anybody.
Sub-par for what I paid...
The only reason this my battery gets 3 stars instead of 1 or 2 is because every time it has gone dead it was in my driveway and not the side of the road. It is only a year and a half old. I don't think I have the receipt. Can I return it for a replacement? My last battery in my old vehicle gave out at 13 years, and while I certainly didn't expect that from this one, I DID expect more than 18 months...
The Duracell battery is good but not the service
I like the battery because the one I replaced was this exact same brand and model (24F) and it lasted me 6 years and 5 months. I only put 25k on my car in that time but its the longest a car battery has ever lasted me. The problem I had was the service. They made me schedule an appointment 4 hours later in the day when I visited the store. When I came back for the appointment only one guy was there in the garage area already working on a vehicle and the manager was counting inventory. Fifty minutes into the appointment they had not even pulled my car into a bay. I ended up having to install it myself because I had to be somewhere an hour and a half after the appointment started. Luckily I had brought a wrench to change it myself. Had I known this was going to happen I would have just bought the battery and installed it at the time I made the appointment. I won't be going back to the auto center at that Sam's Club.
Do not buy
Like others, our battery died after 1 year and 9 months. We had thought Duracell would make a good car battery, but apparently, their battery dying much shorter than expected is a common issue. Fortunately, Sam's Club replaced the battery without any issue, but they also did it so quickly that I would guess this happens quite often. We won't be buying this car battery again.
Last only 8 months
Very disappointed. Just got on August 2016, and after around 8 months, all of sudden it dies. In August 2016, when I was in the market to purchase a battery, I saw some review that not many people happy with this brand/model. But I still bought it as I have Duracell before and it didn't gave me any problem. I was wrong. On top of that, after few weeks/month I still bought again one more for my wife car. I am a student with very busy scheduled. And this misshape almost destroyed my entire day. I wish I have trusted the reviews. Thanks to Sams Club that they change it for no cost. But Sams Club may want to investigate if Duracell is compromising the battery quality. Thanks
Low cost and great battery
We purchased one for my wife's SUV before the old battery failed, it was close. We paid much less and same warranty or better, (3 years) as other batteries showed. We both liked these batteries for cost and warranty and were happy with battery we purchased for our house generator too.
So Far So Good
Needed a battery on a Sunday and went to Sam's for an Interstate - which they had always carried. Found they now carry Duracell (huh?!) at $85.00 for my car. I was skeptical and left to shop around. Other chain stores (Auto-Zone, Advance, O'Reilly's) had only house-brands in the $100 - $125 range for my size, with 2 yr. warranty on most. Batteries went up since I last bought one. I'm no expert, but I trusted those house-brands far less than I trusted Duracell - and besides, the price was right + great 3 year replacement warranty. So it was back to Sam's for the Duracell which I chose to install myself because the store was about to close. They charged me $15 extra which was refunded when I brought back my old trade-in a few days later. Works great and start-ups are consistently strong. I'm confident about my purchase and I believe I got a great deal. 4 out of 5 stars for quality only because I haven''t had it thru a Chicago winter yet - but it's great so far.
