We have tried making our own seasoning and have tried other taco seasonings, but Old El Paso is the only brand we use now. We personally prefer to use it with chicken rather than beef. We boil our chicken until cooked and tender enough to shred and add the seasoning mix with just enough water to thin it out some. It makes for a filling dinner that even my son has been cooking on his own since he was a young child.

I don't just use this seasoning for tacos. I use it on potatoes, pastas and even on steak. It is a very versatile product and I recommend it to anybody that likes to experiment with seasonings.

The taste is excellent and comes in a variety of flavors. Old El Paso also offers shells and tortillas, dinner kits, sauces, and more. I also enjoy trying some of their wonderful recipes.

I have purchased this seasoning forever. It’s a family favorite. The most recent batch I made in March 2025 was really off, however. I don’t know if they changed the recipe or if they put the wrong seasoning in the 2 packets I had…? Or was there an issue with the seasoning? But the seasoning is usually orangey in color and it was a white/grey color. Also it didn’t taste right. Now I’m hesitant to purchase again because I don’t want to waste all that expensive meat. Or risk getting my family sick in case there’s an issue of some sort.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this hoping to save on buying taco seasoning over time. You use 1/4 cup for 1 lb. Of ground beef and it should make tacos 6x or more. It tastes just like the packaged seasoning and it's easy to cook with.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I love this. If you add enough water to the mixture, (that's the BIG secret) it makes the tacos just as good as going to a Mexican restaurant. The big advantage is, I am diabetic so I have to watch what I consume so I can make my tacos to fit my diet. I also use this product to make taco soup.
