Apparently, Walmart is only going to carry the individually wrapped slices of American cheese. Grrrr! It's so annoying trying to make a quick sandwich or to make a cheese sauce with 1/4 pound and having to struggle with un-wrapping multiple slices of cheese! So we came to Sam's Club to see what was available and found the Member's Mark 5lb package. Well, there's just two of us but we really like American cheese and it's a great price so we bought it. It tastes great and melts just like it should. No un-wrapping with mounds of plastic to add to landfills. We froze some and will see if we can separate slices just like before to make sandwiches, top a casserole, or make a cheese sauce. Thank you, Sam's Club for carrying this product!

I used Sam’s pick up service so Sam’s Club employee loaded this block of sliced cheese into my car with other items. Therefore, I didn’t see that the block of cheese was smashed until I got home, otherwise I would have refused to accept the smashed cheese. The block of slice cheese was so smashed instead of using 1 slice of cheese, I had to use 2 slices for each sandwich & hamburger.

Personally I think this cheese is just 'OK'. It's often too salty in my opinion, but not always. The manufacturer seems to have reduced the size of slice so it no longer is the size of a slice of sandwich bread. At 160 slices it's awfully thin, too. I understand (sadly) at this time in American all corporations are pushing profits above customer concerns, and I think Sam's is doing this, as evidenced by this cheese. Don't get me wrong, I love Sams and have been a member for over 40 years. That's a lot of membership dues, huh? Anyway, it seems as though there's no consideration of customer opinion, though I'm sure most customers just accept the changes and go one, feeling helpless to effect change. I don't expect this review to change anyone's shopping choices; I have been looking online for the last 20 minutes for alternatives to this product, with little success. The nexus of quality and price is elusive.

ONCE AGAIN MM changed things. From the larger 120 slice to the smaller 160 slice. takes two slices where one of the 120 ct would cover the same. more costly as you have to use two slices to make a good presentation instead of the one. taste is the same. they are not offering other selections.

I wish there was an option to give a Negative-Star rating, because that’s what I would give this cheese, but the review can’t be submitted without first rating it, so I’ll give it one star for the flavor. Would I recommend this product to a friend? Absolutely not!!! That said, I will never waste my money on any Members’ Mark cheese again. The flavor of this cheese is okay but nowhere near as good as the American cheese made by Mid-America Farms, and the texture is very strange, in that it has a pasty feel in your mouth, and yet the slices are so fragile and brittle that you can’t remove a slice from the stack of slices which have been pressed so tightly together that you can barely separate them at all. Once you do manage to lift a corner of one slice from the stack it immediately breaks off. It’s almost impossible to remove a whole slice of this cheese without it breaking apart into multiple pieces; rearranging the pieces to make a full slice for a sandwich is like making a jigsaw puzzle, except that the end result is not worth the trouble. Members’Mark cheese doesn’t even come close to being as good as the wonderful MID-AMERICAl FARMS Sliced American Cheese that Sam’s used it sell. As a Plus Member I pay a lot of money for the privilege of shopping at Sam’s, but each of the past two years I’ve come closer and closer to not renewing my membership due to the fact that Sam’s keeps replacing more and more of my favorite name-brand items with their generic Members’ Mark garbage. Customers like myself who are willing to pay more for name-brand products do so for a reason — and that is that most name brand products are of better overall quality than the cheaper, generic brands, and the poor quality of this MM cheese is a perfect example of this difference.

Ive been buying this cheese for years and we all love it, however I noticed recently with all of the attention on healthy food, this cheese has Bio-engineered ingredient, it's listed in a new section right under all of they're address in Bentonville AR. They don't say exactly what it is, but I stopped buying this product.

Unfortunately I haven’t seen the thicker 120 slices of the same cheese which I like better!

It is much cheaper to buy sliced cheese this way!! It freezes really well.
