EVEN GREAT BRANDS HAVE A CRAPPY MODEL. MEET MICH'S...

These were the OEM tires to my 2020 Ford Explorer Limited. Michelin is a brand that one time had my ultimate confidence and trust. If my vehicle had Michelin tires, I was not concerned. This is no longer the case. At 40,000 miles, I grew very concerned about the tread life left on the tires. While the tire LOOKED shiny-new from a distance, upon close review, I have seen some SCARY things. One tire even seems to have tiny pinholes in the sidewall, like someone took a stamp and pressed into the side of the tire. They just don't appear to hold up over time and it made for an extremely tense trip on the road this past weekend. In 110-degree temps, with tire remnants on the sides of the road as a perpetual reminder to you of blowouts that have recently occurred, this was the most unnerved my tires have ever made me while on a trip and I have BEEN through multiple blowouts, but that was with cheap tires on bad cars. This time, I was literally thinking, "is this the trip where I die because I didn't buy new tires???" Ugh! Anyway, I thought it was me, until I realized that so many have experienced this as a crappy model tire in an otherwise highly rated brand. Michelin has a long way to go to earn back my confidence after subjecting me to the "Cadillac Cimarron" of their tires.

Poor tread life, followed by blowout.

Very concerned with the number of blowouts reported here. My wife was driving in our neighborhood (just left the house) and had a blowout on front passenger side. Thankfully she was only going ~25mph and was able to limp the car back to the driveway. How does a Michelin tire blow out at 42K miles going ~25 mph? Tire pressure was set at 35lbs as required. I expected much more from the premium tire brand. Is there something defective with this tire?

Joe 2023, we're sorry to read of this incident. The first step is to have the tire inspected by a local authorized Michelin retailer. A representative from our team will be in touch to work with you and the dealer on initiating a warranty claim.

Tire is prone to punctures even from a pebble

OEM tires on my Ioniq 5. A 16mm pebble(rock) punctured through the tread and all 5 belts including the steel belts this morning causing a rapid leak of 10 psi per minute. My bicycle tires are stronger than this model tire from Michelin with just 6,800 miles.

2023 Ioniq 5 11k Miles. Had the foam come apart on one tire that created dangerous shaking when at 55+ mph. Michellin is telling the dealer that they won't cover replacement beyond 55% for one tire. Pretty unbelievable that they cannot even stand behind their product, so that should tell you if you need to look elsewhere or not.

Secret foam makes tires unrepairable

OEM for my Ioniq5, had the bad luck to get a puncture within 3 months of buying the car. Turns out there is foam inside to dampen tire noise which makes the tire unable to be patched as removing the foam in the punctured area somehow affects the structural integrity of the tire. Dealer insists the foam makes the tire "run flat" but I haven't found any indication of this in Michelin or other literature. Incresibly frustrating that tire shops (which I found via the Michelin website), car dealership, and Michelin all seem to have contradictory information about these tires and that they would create a tire which is non repairable for a very expensive car

LS, we are sorry you are receiving conflicting information. MICHELIN® Acoustic Technology effectively reduces vibrations caused by the road resulting in a significant reduction of interior noise by approximately 20%*. A custom designed polyurethane foam solution muffles noise resonance. Punctures may be repaired in accordance with our Repair Procedure Bulletin depending on the size and location of the damage. One of our team members will be in touch to discuss further.

Very fast wear and high price.

The wear of these tires has been excessively fast, barely 20,000 miles and now I'm going to need replacement soon! It is very good for fuel savings But these tires are so expensive that it is not even worth buying them because what you save on fuel you spend on purchasing more frequent tires.

Terrible in dry and wet conditions

Rented a car in Miami this week (Ford Escape). Tires were new as the car only had 50 miles on it. I noticed through the week that non-aggressive accelerating grip was minimal and turning/braking grip in wet condition grip was also minimal. Tires are so bad I got out of car specifically to look at the make and model, and was surprised they are Michelin’s. I have significant experience evaluating tire grip and performance as a semi-professional endurance race car driver. These tires are unsafe for average drivers in moderate street use. I will go out of my way to tell friends and family to not purchase this make and model tire… They were that bad.

LEAKY TIRE

We bought a new 2024 Toyota COROLLA CROSS LE AWD on April 18, 2024 from the Toyota dealer in Victoria. We have driven this new car less than 2,500 km so far (up to end of March 2025) and one of the tires (1B9 22 031X 0324) pressure warning sign keep on coming up even we have pumped up to full pressure of 33psi but the sign will come up again after one shot trip to the town(about 15 min drive). I had the same experience before with my previous new 2016 Toyota RAV 4 Hybrid that I had to replace one of the Michelin tires within one year of little driving milage. in my previous case the dealer said that tire is non-repairable and I had to buy a new tire for the RAV 4. therefore my question is all Michelin tires are non-repairable when theres a flat?

Tread life is terrible. Buy something else

OE on my 2020 Hyundai Sonata. Decent ride and fairly quiet. I had a dealer contract for free service, so they were always kept at proper pressure and rotated regularly. At 30k miles and two years old all four are worn completely out to the point of being unusable. Hyundai says go to Michelin for warranty. Michelin dealers, I talked to several, say treat warranty doesn't apply to OE tires, but supposedly they are the same as the ones for sale of the shelf at the dealer that ARE covered by the warranty. I'll be replacing them with some non-Michelin tires and won't buy Michelin products anymore.
