Just What We Needed

After being without power following Hurricane Helene, we knew we needed a bigger generator with different options for fuel. This generator meets that need while supplying the power we need to run multiple refrigerators and freezers, heat, water, etc. Great purchase!

Nice Generator but ...

Purchase generator 9500TFc, nice push button start. Works great. Luckily hadn't needed to use it yet. However, fuel shut off valve leaks. I will see shortly how they will resolve this. But other than the valve leaks, works fine. I will probably purchase another if they resolve defect.

Great Portable Generator

Being that this was going to be our first generator, we took our time. We searched and researched for the one that best meet our needs. The Westinghouse WGen9500TC won! Due to its safety features, 3 fuel options, remote start, transfer switch ready...etc. Just a good purchase!

Great Futures

So far it’s been Working Great for what I’ve used it for. Main use is for temporary Power during Storms, Ive tested it and runs all the essential Equipment inside my Home until Power is restored. It’s pretty quite for the Design and love the Remote Start Future.

Bought it Again

I bought the single fuel model in 2017 and used it infrequently for home power outages. It worked well for seven years. Power outages became fewer the last four years after they buried the power lines and my maintenance, always poor, became even worse. Consequently in 2024 the carburetor was so gummed up it would no longer start. I attribute these problems to my poor care and decided to buy this same unit again, only this time using only propane. My hope is that this will ease the maintenance problems that come over time with gasoline. I connected everything and it started up right away. It's still going on its maiden run. I am resolved to follow the maintenance schedule this time around. And I hope to find someone more mechanically inclined who will revive the old unit and be able to use it for many more years.

Runs Like A Beast

This generator powers my entire house! Fridge, deep freezer, stove, AC, microwave, house lights etc. It is exactly what I need and it is still going strong after 2.5 years! Ive probably run it 60hours, and perform the recomended maintance as per the manual. The only thing that I dont like is the CO2 dectector. My generator is kept covered by a open roof outside. Sometime when the wind blows correctly, the exhaust gets blown to the CO2 sensor and the generator shuts off. When it's storming this is a problem. I would recomend buying the WGen9500DF (not the DFc) to avoid this issue. Unless this is a safety feature you need.

Why?

What genius designed a generator that you cannot start with the pull rope unless the battery is charged? They put an electric fuel solenoid that requires the battery to be charged for the carburetor to get fuel. Is it just in case we feel we need exercise? The whole purpose of the pull rope on a generator with electric start is to be able to start the generator if the battery is dead, no? Again, why?

The best decision I ever made

As a retired electrician with 30 years of experience, I did a lot of research on this generator and others before purchasing it for my home. I also installed generators for some people in the past, and based on those experiences, I decided to go with this brand. In a 1,200–2,000 sq ft house, I can easily run the heating system (furnace), two refrigerators, about 30 lights, and both the washer and dishwasher without any issues. Greetings from Albany, New York!
