Good streamer but has issues

I've had this for quite a while and there are some bugs. Every couple weeks I'll get a no signal detected or the HDMI error. HDMI cable is on the higher end and connected to a Sony OLED. Don't get that with other devices using an identical cable. Sometimes unplugging the cable works but most of the time have to unplug the Roku. I upgraded my mesh system so I tried the ethernet connection. Much to my surprise, I had a faster connection speed using wireless than ethernet.

Some issues

I went from the 4k stick to the Ultra and in doing so, the ultra wanted me to change my video to some sort of higher resolution. In doing so, the audio was screwed up such that the volume level was not consistent accross all the apps and I even noticed that the programing in the same app was screwed up as well. The remote started showing signs of configuration issues such that we could not press the talk button and verbally search for a show. I also noticed that i had to push the mute button twice to get the tv to mute. I figured out how to reset the remote and everything retunred to normal function.

New ones don't work!

I have 5 ro 6 Roku Units. Two of them were starting to act up a little so I bought two units to replace the older units. The new units didn't have the Micro SD cards that keep your data on hand, but I installed them anyway. They would start a show and then kick you out 20 to 40 seconds later. Sometimes if you restarted the show enough, it would finally play the entire show. Finally I just put the old ones back which are starting to have some sound issues, but at least they will play the shows. I hate to change away from Roku since we have used them for more than 10 years and have so many services through them.

It’s great!

My other device stopped working so I decided to try the Roku since it’s already on my smart tv. I can get all the channels that I like to watch. My opinion it’s the best on the market. I also like the rechargeable remote control and the ear buds that came with it. I think it’s worth the money. I would recommend it.

Easy to use apps

It is easy to navigate the apps plus the shortcuts on the remote.The remote is rechargeable which is also a plus.I would like the search to be better.When you search a movie it doesn't show all the streaming apps.It would be nice if the search was the old way showing all the movies the director or actor are in.I would also like to see specific movie searches like disaster movies or movies in a restaurant etc.

good for streaming not user friendly

It can get all the streaming channels and the remote can control volume and TV power. Bought for a smart TV that has a faulty wireless card. It cannot access the tvs settings or sleep timer and it does not have a sleep timer function. This issue has been complained about for over 3 years with no update. Some companies never listen to their customers. I'll be steering away for future TV purchases so that I only ever require 1 remote.

Annoying requests to reboot

I bought the Roku Ultra six months ago. Frustrated with Apple TV. When the Roku Ultra is working, it is fine, just like the Apple TV. Video and sound are excellent. On the other hand: The iPhone app is useless. The most irritating "feature" is that, every once in a while, I have to do a complete reset. Unplug the HDMI cables. unplug the TV, unplug the Roku Ultra. Plug in the HDMI cables... Really? This is so primitive. You can't build in an applet that resets everything? ls this the '70s? or what? The other annoying "feature" is the connection with the sound bar. Not sure whether this is a Roku problem or a Samsung problem. Either way, it is primitive. Hate all remotes that make you scroll through keyboards, letter by letter. Navigating through the various channels is often a pain. Why doesn't anyone make the user experience intuitive? Why doesn't the CEO demand excellence from his engineers? By that I mean designing for the customer, instead of putting band aids on the compatibility problems. I am sure there are reasons, but excellence is measured in performance, not "good enough."

Great features!

We switched from Fire TV after many years and have been pleased with the ROKU. We haven't missed anything about the Fire TV box we were using, so that is a pretty good testament to the quality and ease of use of the ROKU. We enjoy having the tv volume controls on the ROKU remote.

Easy to set up, but performance is inconsistent

Bought the Ultra to replace the basic model that occasionally needed to "restart" when navigation became erratic or jumpy. The Ultra is a little faster, but it also seems to need to be restarted to keep things running smoothly. Now the remote seems to want to skip or jump items I try to select. Needless to say, I am very disappointed with a product that is not problem free and does not perform in a consistent fashion.

Disappointed

Changed from fire Stick. So far fairly disappointed. Picture quality is better but Operation is very clunky. No browser for internet streaming. Some 'channels' just won't stream /stop working randomly with no explanation as to why. Unable to manage casting at all which was very easy on other devices.
