Easy setup

This is a great tool for keeping your old tv alive that is not a smart tv or is out of date regarding its old applications This is also good for new smart tvs as it has a great platform build for applications and is fun to use I love the Roku tv/ channel application too

Fast and Easy Setup and interface

This is my 2nd Roku device. They are easy to hook up to your TV and setup with a streaming service you may have is a snap. I like the rechargeable remote and the headphone jack for private listening. I have not tried the Bluetooth option. I like the remote control app for your cellphone. I am looking forward to additional apps being added to the library you offer for the device. It's a solid media device.

Expect frequent restarts

I replaced two old Roku 3 units with Ultra's this year. (May 21, 2022) They are now over 5 months old. The picture is much better than the old Roku 3's, and the remotes are way better. However, I have had frequent frozen pictures and HDCP errors. These happen after being on from 1 to a few days. I watch Acorn TV and PBS. First Acorn would get HDCP errors and PBS would get frozen pictures while the sound and closed captioning would continue. Now they both get frozen pictures and I find myself rebooting one device or the other about every day. Rebooting fixes thing for awhile, usually for at least a day, but not always. The system has moved from 11.0 to 11.5, and the problems persist. My two TVs are old and still work well, so I can't talk about the 4K feature. I have tried several HDMI cables to fix the problems, including Ultra speed cables, but the problems persist.

We are very happy with our Roku devices

Bought the ultra when my smart TV stopped being so smart. It's been a huge improvement with streaming! I like how I can now access any platform instead of only "vendor approved" channels. The only thing I'd recommend as an improvement is to have all the login credentials saved when you login to you Roku account. I ended up buying 3 more roku devices and having to login to Netflix, Amazon, etc... for each one is a bit annoying. But not a huge deal.

Not what I expected

The setup was pretty easy and the headphones attached to the remote were wonderful. The user interface once you're in is a little muddled, and I was disappointed in what the Roku Channel offered - to me, tons of junk to weed through to find anything I liked. And with a limited budget to pay for all the streaming services, it's of little benefit to me.

Annoying requests to reboot

I bought the Roku Ultra six months ago. Frustrated with Apple TV. When the Roku Ultra is working, it is fine, just like the Apple TV. Video and sound are excellent. On the other hand: The iPhone app is useless. The most irritating "feature" is that, every once in a while, I have to do a complete reset. Unplug the HDMI cables. unplug the TV, unplug the Roku Ultra. Plug in the HDMI cables... Really? This is so primitive. You can't build in an applet that resets everything? ls this the '70s? or what? The other annoying "feature" is the connection with the sound bar. Not sure whether this is a Roku problem or a Samsung problem. Either way, it is primitive. Hate all remotes that make you scroll through keyboards, letter by letter. Navigating through the various channels is often a pain. Why doesn't anyone make the user experience intuitive? Why doesn't the CEO demand excellence from his engineers? By that I mean designing for the customer, instead of putting band aids on the compatibility problems. I am sure there are reasons, but excellence is measured in performance, not "good enough."

Great features!

We switched from Fire TV after many years and have been pleased with the ROKU. We haven't missed anything about the Fire TV box we were using, so that is a pretty good testament to the quality and ease of use of the ROKU. We enjoy having the tv volume controls on the ROKU remote.

System GOOD - BUT with Bad Remote (Guessing)

Replaced original generation Ultra w SD card because box was locking up with increasing frequency. Age issue I was thinking... This new one is performing well, but remote voice command button works only intermittently and requires turning full-time mic switch on side, on and off to get a single use of momentary button, on the top side. Then nothing. Button is dead again. Either a board or pushbutton issue. I have ordered a new extra remote (battery powered) [backordered BTW] to replace it. Fingers crossed that it was the remote and not the receiver. SHOULD NOT HAVE TO GO THROUGH THIS WITH AN ESTABLISHED PRODUCT. All other functions are good. Hence the stars. Still the best way to organize streaming.

Disappointed

Changed from fire Stick. So far fairly disappointed. Picture quality is better but Operation is very clunky. No browser for internet streaming. Some 'channels' just won't stream /stop working randomly with no explanation as to why. Unable to manage casting at all which was very easy on other devices.

Love my Ultra

I've used Ultras for years! Everything has streamed smoothly and I've not had any serious issues with any that I've owned. I do wish that I could turn off or at least dim the light on the front, it stays on even in rest mode so I have to put tape over the one in my bedroom.
