DOA

Would not start or run properly out of the box. As others have mentioned, the choke was defective. The small connector controlling the stepper motor was disconnected from the circuit board inside the unit. Required removing front, rear, and left side plastic panels to access circuit board (bottom left front of case) and dislodged connector. 2 hours work. Apparently a common issue. Manufacturer should secure connectors better. Ran fine after the fix but louder than expected.

Great Generators till you start using them.

These generators are awesome when new without issues but because of way they pack everything inside over time wires start getting destroyed.Everything is just so close the more you use these the more they fail.Yes they put wrap around the wires but because everything is just packed into unit to make it small and quieter, you end up getting rubbed through wires that short out or cause intermittent shutdowns to surging.Having replaced many inverter modules from wire rub through and shorting out to starters I just would not recommend any of these type gennys because of high failure and break down rates. This is same with cummins igen , westinghouse , champions....they all have same issues.when you have to basically take apart everything including flywheel just to change starters on these its just not worth owning because usually just about time warranty is up is when they begin to fail from poor workmanship and design. Most repair shops will just let them sit till they have nothing else left to work on.i have yet to open up one with 250 or more hrs and not find the wire covers where they have at least begun to rub which leads to hole then exposed wire cores where it has rubbed completely through.Design is just not best , quiet but just do not last.

Awesome Generator

So glad I purchased a Dual-Fuel Generator that I can run exclusively on propane. Unlike fuel sources that can degrade over time (kerosene, diesel, gasoline), propane fuel has no expiration date, nor will its potency suffer while being stored. The only thing you need to worry about when storing propane is maintaining the health and integrity of the propane storage tank. I'm ready for the next PSPS, and in CA, we all know they are now in our future. I also purchased 2, 40LB tanks, with which I can go 72 hours straight powering my refrigerator, microwave, portable oven, etc. Made this last PSPS event tolerable. Just wanted to let you all know what worked for me in case you're considering a generator.

Love this Generator

My generator arrived yesterday. It was well packaged. and shipped without any damage. After adding the oil and fuel I tested out all the features and it performed fantastically! I got this one because of the electric start and remote start features. My wife can now start it up without me having to be there. I also like the fact that it has the built in wheels and handle that extends out to move it about in the garage. It is a bit heavy but weel worth it because of all the features. It has the propane fuel feature as well. I will try that out later but it's good to know I can use an alternate fuel source!! I hope to be using this unit in power outage situations as well. I think it's a great addition to my power needs.

Awesome quiet powerful generator

I bought this April 2019 from Home Depot online. Arrived very quickly to the store for pick up. Good packaging and instructions. Couldn't be happier with this purchase. Powers my camper effortlessly with air conditioner. Runs well on gas and propane, nice feature is the remote starter. Received many compliments on how quiet it is and questions while camping.

Outstanding build quality, great value-for-money

As an off-grid techie, I have bought several generators over the years and this one is both the most solidly built and the most full-featured unit I have yet found. The lack-of-rattle and smooth throttle control contribute to such quietude that my wife considers the low rumble a sleep aid--and I have no doubt these qualities will also contribute to a long, trouble-free lifespan. As someone who lives+works on high playa, I especially prize their attention to high-altitude performance upgrades for _both_ fuels and the remote+electronic start options; besting Honda, Yamaha, and Champion, Westinghouse earned a loyal customer with this one.

Issues Right Out Of The Box

I'll start with the good. The fit and finish on this thing is pretty nice. The little fold up handle and wheels are super nice too when moving it around. Now for the bad. The eco button or throttle control does not seem to work properly. It fires up and runs, however it always runs at a pretty high throttle. The eco button doesn't drop the throttle down to idle as it should. When I put a load on it revs even higher, and when I take the load off it stays up at the higher throttle. When it is running at the higher throttle it pops and sputters. My dad bought the same generator and we compared them. His eco button causes the idle speed to drop way down. When he puts a load on it, it revs up, and when the load is taken off it revs back down to idle. In addition, his does not pop and sputter when a load is on it. I contacted customer support a few weeks ago and they issued a claim number but I have heard nothing else from them. Otherwise, if it were running properly, I would say this is a pretty nice generator. As I mentioned above, the fit and finish is good, the handle is a nice touch, and it is relatively quiet for 3700 running watts. I will update this review once the problem has been solved.

Powerful and quiet

Now that we have a new baby I wanted to prepared for hurricane season. I wanted a unit powerful enough to run a portable AC and fridge yet quiet enough that it won't disturb the neighbors. After a week of sifting through reviews on different model and comparing prices, I settled on the igen4500DF. I liked the unit for many reasons. The running watts was exactly what I was looking for, long run time on a tank, ability to also run on propane was a bonus as that is easier to store long term vs gasoline, quiet, portable, and cheaper than a Honda or similar higher end unit. Sleeping much better now that I don't have to worry about losing power in the Texas summer with a baby in the house.

Started right up

I saw many reviews about issues with the choke and starting, so I crossed my fingers when I pushed the start button, but was pleased when the unit started up immediately. I ran it on both gas and propane. Running in ECO mode worked fine, with the unit adjusting according to load. The only problem I had was during setup where the battery hold down strap was lodged back by the oil filler location as you can see in the photos. After I fished it out it was a real chore to get the battery strapped down. The battery location and access are very poor design, no thought to maintenance. I have large hands and it was quite a job to get that strap connected. Anyway, so far so good. The real test will be when we have an outage.

Long time coming!

I have been shopping around for a generator/inverter for years. I have particularly been interested in a duel fuel option. Hauling around propane cylinders instead of gas cans seems like a safer option. I am still going through the 5 hour/50% max power output, but am very pleased so far. The unit is very quiet as advertised and I am waiting to see what full output will sound like. With 3 starting options (push button, remote and pull cord) I am sure to be able to get the gen started when needed. Overall very pleased so far with my purchase and feeling more secure in the crazy weather Nebraska can dish out. Camping has a lot more options now too!
