Compact and QUIET!

I researched generators for our Toy Hauler for over a year and finally decided on this Westinghouse iGEN4500DF. The dual fuel is perfect! Easy start up and operation. VERY quiet. Weighs under a hundred pounds so can be lifted and moved with ease. Even easier with the pull out handle that makes it as easy as pulling my old little red wagon! All controls and indicators are easily read and understood. Very well engineered! Works great with our 30 AMP RV hook up. In future, will be off road boondocking for sure!

Just what we needed

Product arrived damage free. Quick start instructions were clear and easy to follow. Set the device up on propane and had it up and running in a short time. I can’t believe how quiet this generator is, you can stand beside and talk … at normal levels …. Amazing. Lots of info available via the Digital display concerning, fuel levels, operating info and output info as well. We had actually made this decision on this generator last year but they were out of stock, so we decided to wait.....So Glad we Did. Absolutely a Great purchase. Always true with Westinghouse products.

Great Generator

Bought this generator about two months ago. It runs our TT A/C (13.5k) no problem on propane, and it almost runs the microwave together with the AC but will overload eventually. I wasn’t planning on trying to run both together anyway and was just my curiosity at work to see how strong this thing is. The remote start is great on cold mornings at the campsite and you want to microwave something. The only negative I have is that the idle was fluctuating a lot when I first fired it up on propane. On gas it was fine. With any load the idle was fine. We are at 7k elevation so I figured it was too rich. I paid more and ordered the high altitude orifice kit. It came with 4 different orifices for different elevations. I installed the one for our elevation and the idle was almost perfect, however it would not run any load over 2300 watts. So I put the original one back in and just adjusted the base idle up slightly which eliminated 90% of the idle issues. Overall for the price I’m happy with it. In addition this is the only dual fuel generator I could find with remote start. All the others only offered remote start on their gas only models.

Great generator for the trailer!

I did a lot of research to find the best overall generator for camping and finally decided on this one. It will start the A/C on the trailer with no problems. It is also quiet enough to power the heater fan all night in cold weather. To top things off, it can run off propane which can be more convenient than gas at times. The first time I started it, I had it connected to my propane tank and it fired right up using the remote start. It started so easily it was as if it had already been running moments before. Great generator!

Excellent design, quiet, loaded with features

Overall design is outstanding...large performance in a nicely designed package. Runs 15,000 BTU AC unit on our toy hauler without issue. Only design flaw is there should have been hoses installed for the oil draining/filling process...very difficult messy

Just right for me

I previously purchased a pair of iGen2200’s to run in parallel for my RV. When I saw this with its dual fuel capability and remote start I sold the 2200’s to buy one. Works great right out of the box, after adding oil and connecting the battery of course, and it’s less than 1/2 the price of a comparable Honda.

What buy another

Sweewt, all around start up and operation. No issues moving around and enough watts to support our camper. Only issue was the battery strap was off and I was unable to get the to hook and stay on on both sides. Did not apprear that that was any latch or hook there to connect.

Problems out of the box, but great after that

It would not stay running at first and I was getting a heavy propane smell. After some internet research, it seems a common problem that the choke cable would come disconnected. Unfortunate that I had to take a new product apart to fix this, but it is working great now. I would have rated higher had it not been for that. I hope the choke cable does not vibrate loose during use. I really like the dual fuel feature and it is relatively quiet.

Dual fuel is great

iGen4500DF purchased June 2021. It's great being able to run on propane, I prefer carrying an extra propane tank rather than gasoline. As a side bonus, the exhaust smell on propane is much less unpleasant than when running on gasoline. Switching between gas and propane is seamless. As expected based on the power rating, no problems starting/running 13.5k BTU a/c. I also own a Yamaha EF3000iSEB. The Westinghouse is about 50lbs lighter and is much easier to move with the pull-out handle. Both generators show the same noise spectrum within a couple of dB (simple phone app), but my ears say the Yamaha has a 'smoother' sound while the Westinghouse has more of an engine 'puttering' sound. Although I prefer the Yamaha noise, the propane capability and lighter weight of the Westinghouse is worth it to me. HOWEVER, I did have the widespread problem where the automatic choke connector was not snapped into the control board. It's just bizzare how they can't get this under control after it's been going on for so long. Annoying but not hard to correct.

Awesome quiet generator

I bought this generator to go boondocking with my travel trailer and tested it for 7 hours to break it in. Super quiet and started up on 2 pulls, and one push of the electric start, and also started on first press of key fob at 50 feet. Recorded the volts as I increased the loads to 50%. Nice digital display for voltage output, fuel remaining, run time. At 109 pounds was still able to lift into the back of my truck.
