Looks solid. High altitude kit is a pain

I bought this generator a couple months ago. Upon receiving it, I learned I was supposed to install a high altitude carburetor kit (from instructions buried in the manual) or I would void the warranty. The high altitude kit was nearly impossible to find online. The part numbers didn't match the numbers in the manual but they did match the part numbers I found in a Westinghouse blog. I finally found it on some site that seemed affiliated with Westinghouse but I'm not even sure. I certainly wasn't sure I'd receive the parts I ordered. They did show eventually but the instructions on the blog are really only meant for a technician so I had to find a local repairman to come install them. I finally got them installed, two months after my initial purchase. If you live above 2,000 ft, be prepared for a long process to buy and install the kit The generator otherwise seems solid and well built. Starting it is easy and it's quiet

Works no problem

Works likes it supposed to so far. After you get fuel through the lines it starts up first crank. The electric start and remote both work no problem. The plug for the built in battery charger is nice because I already forgot to shut off my battery and I killed it but I just plugged it into an outlet to get it charge. I have run it off both gas and propane with no issues. The noise level isn't to bad for a generator this size. Running it on the grass or dirty vs concrete will reduce the noise a lot. The only cons the this generator so far are that the oil change is kind of a pain on this model. I recommend get an after market oil drain hose to put on. It's heavy but so are all generators this size. No easy to get to manual fuel shut off valve. The manual say to turn on the manual choke and fuel valve but this model doesn't not have those because it is all automatic. The muffler sits a little low so you might kill some grass if you don't cover the grass with something like a piece of wood. Overall a very easy to operate dual fuel generator. I hooked it up to my small camper trailer and was able to run my small AC unit, the 12 volt refrigerator, and the microwave all the the same time with power to spare.

Very easy set up!

I ordered my iGen5000DFc after a fair amount of research into which generator would best suit my needs for my RV. At the time of this review I have yet to use or even run my generator because camping season is still over a month away. One thing I can say is that I was very impressed with how easily this unit was to set up. After unboxing there's nothing to it. This has got to be the easiest setup for a generator this size that I have ever seen.

Great Inverter Generator for my 5th Wheel

I bought this generator in hopes that I could run a single generator to run all the equipment on my 5th Wheel RV. I ordered this and it came in perfect condition. I pulled it out and went through the setup by adding fuel, oil, and a few drops of Lukas Heavy Duty Oil on top of the piston head, hooked up the battery, and with one push of the starter button, it started right up! After going through a proper break-in of the generator I hooked it up to my 5th Wheel RV. I ran my AC, Microwave, TV, Refrigerator, lights, and fans, and this generator did not even blink. I am super happy with my purchase. To top it off it is quiet. I have a honda eu 2000i and my Westinghouse iGen4500 is similar in noise. That is impressive. Heading out to some dispersed dry camping and am thrilled to have this go with me.

Very simple

I just took delivery of my new Westinghouse igen4500DF. Very simple to prepare for operation! Extremely quiet when running. Starts with key fob, push button, and pulling the starter rope is very easy. I looked for days to find what I wanted, and this was worth the wait! I love the Duel Fuel feature! Propane is so much cheaper than gas. We got this for our new camper and can't wait to hit the road! Thanks Westinghouse!!!

Just what we were looking for!

My husband and I purchased this generator to use while camping in areas without hookups. We also wanted something we could use as a backup should our home power go out. We just received it a couple days ago, so have not had opportunity to give it the full test yet. It arrived in beautiful shape and extremely fast! My husband was very pleased with how easy it was to setup. When he pushed the start button, it fired right up. We plugged it into our RV first thing and everything worked that we turned on. Can't wait to hit the hills!!

iGen4500DF

I ordered this Aug 25 2021 from Lowe's, it came in yesterday Aug 30th. Picked it it up at the store and headed home. I was apprehensive about it because of some of the reviews that were scathing, there always seems to be those regardless of the brand. I was comparing the Champion inverter models with the Westinghouse inverter models. Many many people had problems starting the Champions on propane so I wasn't having warm fuzzies over that. I didn't see that with the Westinghouse reviews and that was a plus but still stuck in my mind. I wanted a duel fuel inverter model which made it a bit more difficult to find and 240vac split phase even harder. The 240v are very limited in manufactures and were cost prohibitive for me. I wanted the 240v to run the well pump, but I decided I would replace the carburetor on my old 1998 Generac 5500xl and use it solely to run the pump when needed. I unboxed it, read the literature and put the oil in it. .6qt of oil came with it and a nozzle that screws into the oil fill hole making it convenient to get the oil into the engine since it is enclosed. Generator was on a flat almost level surface but when I unscrewed the nozzle the oil overflowed. Don't know if there was a bit more oil in the bottle or the engine just doesn't take .6qt of oil. I couldn't find anyplace the listed the amount it requires just that it overflows when filled up. I put it up for the night a storm was starting. Next day I took out again and connected the battery connections inside the battery compartment. No need to take the battery out to connect it, easy with the connectors already installed. I put a little gas in the tank and hooked up the propane also. I thought I might have to start it on gasoline and switch to propane. Thaw Champion reviews stuck in my mind but the Westinghouse can be started on gasoline and switched to propane while running...a big plus. I turned the battery switch on in the front and figured I would try starting on propane first. Selector switch on propane, turned gas on at tank, pushed the start button and it cranked over a for 1-2 seconds and vroom! Started right up! No problem! Went to plug in some battery chargers for hand tools and that was hard at first. The 120v outlets are really tight not loose and sloppy. They loosened up after using a few times. Quality parts (?) I want to think so. Overall I am very pleased with this machine and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to friends. The 3% THD is better than many, it's a modified sine wave and not a pure sine wave like you would get out of a nice battery backup solar type generator. I would buy this unit again. Hope this is review is helpful.

Really Solid Inverter with Good Power

Bought this unit about 6 weeks ago. Traveled across the U.S. and did about 4,000 miles. Used the inverter with my truck camper to power AC, refrig and other items. Summer temps were between 85 and 95 degrees. Operated in sun and rain. The inverter casing seems watertight. The economy mode seems to cycle evenly with changes in power requirements. Put the 100 lb. generator in my enclosed trailer to haul it around.

most features in one compact package

i waited for this to be available for over a year. IT does all the things i wanted plus has option of dual fuel. Can't find another with DF, remote start, inverter and in this size range. mine out of box fired up on second try with propane. later on gas fired on first try. Will see if it has any problems like some have had.. i am hopeful i will not.

Just what we needed!!

Bought this to use to run our 30amp RV at a campground for next several weeks, it is fairly quiet and is adequate to turn on everything in the RV, love that it has a remote to it and also runs off propane, we will also be using for our home if we need it during a power outage, very satisfied with this purchase, good price for a well built generator! Great that it has a extendable handle to move it around.
