[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Truthfully I didn’t think I’d enjoy this as much as I do since I have a small room and this is placed in the corner, but despite the space constraints this still manages to sound amazing and give me 3D effects all throughout my room. Night mode and active voice enhancement are great as I can sleep to any podcasts or horror stories I enjoy binging. It works surprisingly seamlessly with my LG C4 and my PS5, the bass is nice as deep with movies, games, and music. Adaptive works surprisingly well with music and I’ve grown to prefer these over my old HomePod Gen 2’s for music, I never have to turn the volume past 10% to hear things clearly, 15% if I want louder music, and 20% if I want my house to rattle! Despite the subwoofer only being 8 inches, it puts out a great amount of thump and sounds pretty clean for a Ported sub, it is quite a bit boomy though but overall this is amazing. Definitely would recommend to anyone, and the price really sealed the deal for me. Cannot beat the amount of performance you’re getting for the price.

These sound much better than they should for this size. Even though my Sammy TV is a 2019 model the latest firmware update allowed Q-Symphony with this soundbar setup. I couldn't ask for more other than I'd like to be able to add an additional subwoofer please.

Purchased this system because when got the one below the sub woofer did not had enough power. Was told this one was a higher model and much better. For the price and what it was the sub woofer did not really had that much power. It wasn't worth the price. Ended up returning it.

Samsung pushed an update that bricked a large number of these soundbars including mine. It is very disappointing that multiple outlets have reported on this issue without an official response from Samsung. I expected better from this company. The issue is so big that it prevents any updating via USB. It may require a mass recall of these devices and an extended lead time for repair.

I have tired a handful of sound bar devices which were either HDMI and/or Optical cable. In each I noticed a lag, and more importantly they tried to synthesize sound, but it almost always felt like a 2.1 home theatre system at best and a surround sound system at worst. Once I saw the Samsung HW-Q990D 11.1.4ch Soundbar with Dolby Atmos/DTS:X I thought to give it a try, only because of the 2 additional rear speakers, and the way other speakers were designed to be able to send sounds in different directions, like left and right and also top. This could allow for me to be able to actually listen to the Atmos quality sound, something that was missing with the 5.1 home theatre system and also with the several sound bars that I have tried and failed. The rear speakers seem to be very good too, as it seems to have sound generation in 3 different axis ( yes all 3 axis, as opposed to different angles) , that make this a perfect fit for a home theatre. The device comes equipped with everything needed, including 3 HDMI connectors, one of which is HDMI E-ARC, a TOSLInk/ Optical connection. Set-up was straightforward, and the ability to connect wirelessly to my existing Samsung television was beyond convenient. This sound system is sleek, compact, and all-around adaptive to your environment. Featuring a main subwoofer, a front-facing unit with 11-speakers, and 4 up/side-firing speakers-- this soundbar makes for a completely incredible and immersive sound experience. With Samsungs SpaceFit Sound Pro, it's simple to calibrate and optimize sound based on the acoustics of your environment/space. Sound is incredibly crisp and clear, and bass is sharp and unclouded, even with great volume. As a family who utilizes the television for movies, music and gaming, the ability to utilize various pre-sets for optimal sound is a huge plus. We utilize Party Mode when entertaining guests and playing music. We utilize Private mode for late-night television when our kids are sleeping. The HDMI 2.1 has made it possible for my husband to utilize 4k 120HZ when playing his favorite games. We absolutely love the level of elevation provided by the Samsung Q990D across the board. As far as technology goes, this soundbar is incredibly intuitive-- and compatible with our existing smart hub programs, Alexa, Google, etc.. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Samsung Q990D is really impressive compared to a full 5.1.4 Dolby Atmos setup with a receiver. Pros: Volume output of soundbar and subwoofer. I had this at level 21 and it was plenty loud. No speaker wiring. Only power wiring to speakers and subwoofer along with HDMI to soundbar. Immersive Sound. Easy setup with WiFi. Space Fit Sound Pro which basically calibrates the speakers with a mic like a receiver would, so you know you're getting the most out of your speakers. 7-Band Equalizer when not in Q-Symphony mode. SmartThings App to adjust settings without the soundbar remote and small display on soundbar. HDMI 2.1 passthrough for the gamers out there who want to get the high bandwith, resolution, and refresh rates out of their TVs. Cons: I could tell where the subwoofer was located in the room. Could also just be difference between the locations and floor types. Q-Symphony greys out the Equalizer and won't allow adjustments besides tone adjustments to Bass and Treble. Overall: For the price point, this is a great alternative to get an immersive sound without paying a premium for a true Dolby Atmos setup and hassle of paying a professional to wire the speakers. Sometimes with my true setup, I have a hard time hearing the dialogue. That's probably due to the center channel not being at the right elevation due to the entertainment center I have downstairs. However, with this soundbar that would definitely not be an issue especially with the Adaptive Sound and Active Voice Analyzer.
