Outstanding!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] There is quite literally nothing I'd change about this system. It excels at producing better than theater dolby atmos surround sound. I have it coupled with my 85" Samsung TV and use the Q Symphony. I love it so much that I will slowly be replacing my other TV/Soundbars with the same set up, just with different size TVs
Awesome Samsung Soundbar for my Samsung Television
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We redesigned our living room area which included adding an upgraded entertainment system. I wanted a top notch sound system that had Dolby ATMOS capability and I really wanted a subwoofer and rear speakers to make it complete. After lots of research I chose this Samsung HW-Q990D 11.1.4ch Dolby ATMOS Soundbar with subwoofer and rear speakers and so glad I did. The system fully integrates with the TV, and the subwoofer combined with the rear surround sound speakers provides the ultimate "movie theater" experience - in MY HOME! The unit also comes with a nice remote that allows me to control everything, including how much THUMP I want from my subwoofer. I would highly recommend this soundbar and would make the same purchase if I had to do it again!
Great Sound Quality, but Lacking in Sound Stage
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] AMAZING sound quality and build quality. Incredible bundle. The price for what you get is so good. Music is terrific to play on this as well. However, the sound stage and spatial sound is lacking. You don't feel surrounded such as you would think. Otherwise, I HIGHLY RECCOMEND IT!
Whe it works ,it works really good.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I use this system in my home theater. I have connected a Roku ultra, xbox x, and a 85" QE1C QLED 4K tv. The sound bar continiously disconnects from the tv. Not allowing the Q-Symphony feature to work. I have to unplug the power and replug to get it to work. This happens almost everytime. However when it does work it is amazing, the sound is great and it feels like a movie theater. Another issue I have is the wireless satelite speakers, they still require electrical power, therefore they are not 100% wireless.
Hello LEDpiranah, We appreciate you taking a few moments to review the Samsung HW-Q990D Soundbar. Updating the firmware on your soundbar gives you all the benefits of the latest improvements. When the Soundbar is connected to the Internet, Auto Update allows software to update automatically even when the Soundbar is turned off. You can also update by using the SmartThings app. If not connected to the internet, you can download it onto a USB device, and then upload it to your soundbar - no wireless connection required. Connect the USB drive that contains the update firmware to the SERVICE port of the Soundbar. 1.Go to the Samsung Electronics website (www.samsung.com) → click on the “Support” option in the upper left corner. 2.Click on “Manuals & Software” from the pop-up list > TVs & Home Theater > Home Theater > Select your model 2. Download the firmware file (USB type). 3. Unzip the file to create a folder with the file name. 4. Store the created folder in a USB and then connect it to the Soundbar. 5. A sequence of “UPDATE” > “BYE” > “ON” will appear on the display 3 times. This will take around 6 minutes. - During update, do not turn it off or remove the USB. - If “UPDATE” does not appear on the display window, remove the power cord from the Soundbar and then reconnect it. - When the latest version is installed, no update is performed. - Depending on the USB type, update may not be supported. 6. After the 3 cycles are complete, the Soundbar will restart and last source used will appear on the display for about 20 seconds and then it will go off (“UPDATE” > “BYE” > “ON”) 3 times “D.IN” > off If you need more help, Samsung is here for you. Powerful but doesn't take up room!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I use these speakers for everything– music, movies, and gaming! The dolby atmosphere works flawlessly while gaming. It helps with directional noise. I know when someone is coming up behind me in the game. Movies are great when there's crazy action with the great bass, but also when there's quiet scenes with low volume dialog, there's active voice amplifier so it detects the quiet scenes and you dont have to constantly turn up and down the volume to hear what people are saying. If its still not enough, in the settings on the smart things app you can turn on "voice enhancement" to make dialog or even rap music more enjoyable. Music is where this shines. It can seamlessly link to your phone and dolby atmos apps like tidal. If you walk in your house while playing music on your phone and can walk up and tap your phone to the top of the speaker and your speaker just starts playing the music.
Great sound - for a soundbar
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] While you won't be fooled into thinking you're listening to a surround sound / Atmos home theater system, you also won't have to pay for one either. Very good sound, if you add the optional rear speakers - without them you will notice something missing. Will admit I am frequently irritated by the absence of a dedicated Soundbar (+ any other Samsung AV device) app. I use the Smatthings Hub yet I would prefer a full featured app and maybe even a real remote. But those issues are nitpick. The simplicity backed up by a rich sounding, convincing Atmos / surround sound profile pushed out by a small yet handsome soundbar makes the Q series well worth the price. And I bet we will see an update with version of Galaxy AI designed for the soundbar in the near future!
A true Dolby Atmos experience
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Just like the title says. This is not a sound bar, it is a tie surround sound experience! Nice deep bass and true atmos surround pairs excellently with my laser TV. Sounds and feels like a true premium movie experience. No noticeable lag when gaming either.
Much Love for the Samsung Q990D
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Okay, so let's talk about my Samsung Q990D. Honestly, it's not just a soundbar; it's a home theater transformation! I genuinely love this thing. Right out of the box, setup was surprisingly easy. No messing with tons of wires – just plug in and connect. But the sound... oh, the sound! Movies? Forget about it. Dolby Atmos is unreal. Sounds truly fly over and around you. Explosions rumble, dialogue is crystal clear thanks to the dedicated center channel, and those wireless rear speakers make you feel like you're inside the action. Seriously, I'm hearing things in my favorite films I never knew existed! And for gaming? It's next-level. The Game Mode Pro really makes a difference, picking out subtle cues and immersing you deeper. It’s a total game-changer. Even for just watching regular TV, the Adaptive Sound is fantastic. It automatically adjusts, so whispers are clear and loud commercials don't blast you out of your seat. Plus, if you have a Samsung TV, Q-Symphony syncs perfectly, making the sound even bigger. The wireless subwoofer delivers serious bass without being obnoxious, and the whole system just fills the room with rich, detailed audio. It's truly cinematic, and it makes every viewing experience an event. If you want a truly immersive home audio experience without the hassle of a complex setup, the Q990D is absolutely amazing. I can't recommend it enough! You can see a review of the Samsung HW-Q990D Soundbar after one month of use to get another perspective.
Great when it is working!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I purchased the Samsung TV and the Samsung soundbar because I wanted the Q symphony sound using both the TV speakers, the soundbar, wireless base, and wireless surround sound speakers. Really like the set up, minimal wires, and I think great sound. The only issue I am having is that it somehow comes un-synced with each other even though Im using an HDMI E-ARC cable to connect the devices for a "seamless integration". My wife could care less about surround or Dolby Atmos- so if I spend 3-5 minutes to try to reprogram our TV and the soundbar before we watch a show it frustrates her which frustrates me. I wanted to turn the TV and soundbar on with one remote and have it "actively" adjust the sound system for an optimal experience, When it works its great, when it doesnt I sometimes watch shows with just the TV speakers because I dont want to spend the 3-5 minutes (as mentioned above) setting it all up again while wife is patiently waiting. I have seen this complaint on just about every TV/Soundbar forum I have found while trying to find the "fix". Sounds like there isnt one. Even if you download the newest software updates as of July 2025. Anyway, it would really be great if Samsung fixed this for us all. I bought this system (TV/Soundbar) to last about 6 years which is typically how long we use a system. This replaced a 4k TV and an 8 speaker, several thousand dollar system that sounded great, vibrated the house (if you wanted it to), had wires going everywhere. Anyway Help!
Hi TTownWatcher, Thank you for taking a moment Thank you for choosing this Samsung Soundbar. We value your feedback regarding issues with the soundbar and TV ARC. Here are a few things you can check to resolve the ARC issue: 1) Make sure the TV has the latest software Version 2) Try setting the digital audio output setting on the TV to PCM 3) Try a different HDMI cable. The cable should be a high-speed HDMI cable capable of 4K/30Hz If you need more help, Samsung is here for you. Please call us at 1-800-SAMSUNG, 8AM - 12AM EST (Ask for Soundbars), 7 days a week. Immersive Audio with Samsung Q-Series 11.1.4
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I recently upgraded to the Samsung Q-Series 11.1.4-channel Wireless Dolby Atmos Soundbar, and it’s hands-down one of the most immersive audio systems I’ve ever experienced. The moment I turned it on, I felt like I was living inside the movie. This system features a massive 11.1.4-channel setup—that’s eleven front and side-firing speakers, one powerful subwoofer, and four up-firing channels that bounce sound off the ceiling for that cinematic Dolby Atmos feel. Everything syncs wirelessly—including the rear speakers—so you get full surround sound without the messy cabling. Setting it up is delightfully easy. The immersive SpaceFit Sound Pro automatically calibrates audio to your room, while Adaptive Sound and Active Voice Amplifier settings make dialogue crystal clear—even during action-heavy scenes. Gaming gets a serious upgrade, too. Game Mode Pro delivers enhanced directionality and subwoofer punch—every footstep and explosion feels more real. In short: this isn’t just another soundbar—it’s a full-blown upgrade to your home theater experience. For anyone hoping to bring cinematic sound to game nights, movie marathons, or day-to-day use, the Q-Series 11.1.4 is absolutely worth it.
