I would recommend it for the money that I spent for it on sale, but there are some idiosyncrasies that you need to keep in mind.

My wife often makes me pause the sound to make sure that no one is in the house because the sound truly become for every direction and it's easily heard. Our bedroom ceiling is vaulted and the sound still bounces properly around us as if we were in the middle of everything. I'm definitely thinking about getting another one for another room in the house.

Paired with my 100-inch projector setup, it turned every type of content—movies, sports, gaming, and even regular TV—into a full cinematic event. The surround sound is unbelievably immersive, with precise directional audio that actually feels like it wraps around the room. Dialogue is clearer, bass is deeper without muddying anything, and Atmos effects finally sound the way they're supposed to. I didn't realize how flat my old setup was until I heard this system. The Q990D instantly elevated everything I watch and made my projector setup feel like a true high-end theater. Total game changer.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I wasn't sure a soundbar could really deliver theater-quality audio, but the Q Series 11.1.4 proved me wrong. The Dolby Atmos and DTS:X effects are unreal — you can actually feel sound coming from above and behind, thanks to the rear speakers and those upward-firing drivers. It's like being dropped right into the middle of a movie scene. What surprised me most was how clear everything sounds: dialogue is sharp, even during loud action scenes, and the bass is deep without being overwhelming. Whether I'm gaming, watching movies, or just streaming music, it sounds incredible. Setup was easy, and the wireless rear speakers make the whole system feel clean and modern. Honestly, it's the best upgrade I've made to my home setup in years.

Also, the space should have been stronger to feel the whole room, which is my biggest complaint.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I paired this up with my older Samsung QN90A 4K TV and a Panasonic DP-UB9000P1K 4K UHD Blu-ray Player. The combination makes for a really outstanding 4K UHD video watching experience. The so-called "atmos bubble" really is a thing and is very apparent. The one unexpected benefit is the voice enhancement mode. It really makes a big difference in being able to hear the character dialog even in scenes that are audibly busy. It's not obvious, though, unless you turn off voice enhancement to see what it's been doing. It just does its job very well and in an unobtrusive manner. The only nit to pick has to do with my Android streaming box, an NVidia Shield. I use that box for general streaming (youtube, amazon video, etc.). Every so often, when switching between apps on the shield, the Q990D will lose the audio data stream. Turning it off, then back on fixes the issue, but it is annoying. That being said, I can't say for sure that it's not the QN90A that's the problem...or some interaction between the two, so I can't really take a star from the Q990D.

Purchased it because I have Samsung OLED and it syncs with the TV speakers providing 11.1.4 sound and it does a great job. Have nothing but great things to say about the Q990D. Its sound quality and sync ability with the TV is the ONLY reason I purchased a second Samsung OLED (S95D 77"). All the ports on the Direct Connect box on my 1st TV stopped working so the DirectConnect is basically a very large power supply now. Would not have purchased new S95D but took a chance because the Q990D is just that good. Unfortunately, new S95D has failed two separate times leaving my TV dead each time. On the good side, the second TV keeps failing within its warranty! The 1st TV had the Connect Box ports fail shortly after the warranty ended. Note - I will not buy a third Samsung OLED no matter how much I like the Q990D.

I'm not sure if I can go back to using TV speakers and/or other inferior soundbars. Honestly speaking though, I don't hear the difference between Dolby Atmos and non Dolby Atmos content, so I was just a bit disappointed. I was led to believe it'd blow my mind watching movies with Dolby Atmos on this device, but my mind is yet to be blown. Other than that, though, it's a fantastic soundbar system that I immensely enjoy using.

The dialogue clarity alone is far superior to what I get from my Sonos setup. It also pairs well with easy setup for my Samsung tv.
