Great power where you need it!

The generator was very easy to setup out of the box, with clear & concise instructions. Filling was easy as was connecting the ground wire. This is no small generator and has a lot of power, The pull start was easy to operate. It is not a quiet generator, by any means. So, it's not for going camping. We bought it to have as backup for the major appliances in our house. It has useful 220V connections as well as 110V.

Life in the Tropics

I live in Puerto Rico, and since Hurricane MarĂa destroyed our power grid, almost 5 years later we are still having constant island-wide blackouts. The most recent in April, 2022, all the generating power plants on the island shut down due to a fire in a switch yard. Four days later, half the island is still without power, including us. I've used it once before during a brief blackout and it did well. Today it looks like we're going to be without power for at least another 24 hours (I had power restored two days ago but today it went out again). I plugged it in to the house with a manual transfer switch. Right now it's nightfall, and I am running two refrigerators, kitchen and living room lights, all ceiling fans running, and not a hiccup from the set. The electrician that installed the transfer switch says that if power doesn't come back later, I could turn off the refrigerators and turn on one bedroom inverter mini-split air conditioner. Thoroughly satisfied with this product. Thank you Generac. Now buying a whole house automatic propane or diesel set and/or a Powerwall with Generac seems like a wise investment. Until then, this GP6500 will do just fine.

Quality product

Our power has been out for the last 3 days from hurricane dorian, this generator has worked great. We switched our house over to the Generac 8000W generator as soon as we lost power. Fired up AC, some lights, a few receptacles and refrigerator, WORKS GREAT and has worked for us on a tank of gas for 17hrs. HOT HUMID days with no power, glad we have our Generac generator.

Great product

Purchased the gp6500e in case of power outages from hurricane Irma. Works exactly how you would expect. Instructions could be better but common sense goes a long way. The single quart of oil brings the unit just past the low mark on level ground, good thing I had backup oil on hand. Battery came with enough charge to start it right out of the box. Has been running constantly with no hiccups. 9/10 Would buy again!

Great product, but would like to see added feature

While I've not yet tested the GP7500E under loss of power conditions I must say the product does what it says. It is easy to put together, run, and register. It starts smartly and continues without apparent problems or interruptions. I would like to see a trickle charger incorporated into the unit or a recharging feature that would recharge the batteries when the unit is running. This is my only drawback, otherwise, dependable and smooth running. It gets the job done!

Yes....purchase this one

We bought our first Generac 7000kw in 2004 it has ran our 55' trailer in the middle of the bush for 7yrs. then built our OFF GRID home powering all our power tools needed for the build, then for the last 3 yrs used as a back up to our Off grid solar system. Still going strong only serviced once to clean it up with a tune up. Purchased New one GP7500E to carry us forward for another 10 yrs and use the older one as our back up. Quiet, easy to use, I will always buy a Generac.

Best value

Best value for price. Easy assembly. Started right up. Ran my pool pump, kegerator, deep well cooler, 1 window ac unit, 1 in wall ac unit with ease. It didn't even strain. Refrigerator and house lights are on solar, battery backup system. I did not try running central ac, stove, although it probably would if other loads were shut off. Connected my oscilloscope while under load. Voltage and frequency right on. Very clean pattern. More than happy with power output, quality.

Dissapointed with dealers / service reps in CT

I purchased this unit (GP17500E) for home backup power for my CT home. I have been trying to get a dealer / service rep to assemble the unit at my house - for a fee- and spare me the effort of having to lift a 400 pound unit to assemble the wheel kit (I have a bad back)....So far all the service reps in CT have turned me down. One told me they are not taking any more portables...Just be aware that if you purchase this product you'll be on your own trying to assemble it...

This product works great

The only problem we have is the manual and the website is useless for this model. Changing the oil is NOT as instructed in the manual or on the website. There is no plug for draining the oil. Also, finding the "Serial No." is impossible. It is not where you are directed to look by the help line, the website, or the manual.

Electric starting is simple.

Only used in one power outage. Handled two fridges, a furnace, large TV, some lights without a glitch. Easy to manuver with the furnished wheel assembly. In the process of installing a seperate manual transfer panel to hook up 30 amp twist lock into the house.
