Generac for the win!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We own the house at the very back of our cul-de-sac which just happens to be on a separate utility line from the rest of our neighbors. We lose power for a few hours quite often, and it becomes very inconvenient if you're in the middle of dinner, or the big game is on! We love the ease of hookup in the Generac generator we got. Wheel it out, start it up and plug in! The CO2 monitor built in is extra peace of mind for us. We are now going to have the transfer switch installed to make it even easier! Thanks Generac for taking care of my family!

This is a tentative review

Out of the box looks great, easy setup and starts easily 1x per month for testing ( starting) only). Today I needed it most with an ice storm and power outage. Fired up and ran great, but produced no electricity from the outlets. I took it into the service center, but still had a dark cold house. I will update with my service and warranty experience.

Features and price

So far I am very satisfied but did not get a chance to put it to an actual test. The predicted storm did not materialize and we never lost our power but I was confident that I was ready for anything with my new Generac 7500E. It was filled with oil, the battery charged and gas. Test started and it fired right up.

It would have been great if all the parts came with this generator

Missing parts out of the box. Cannot put the unit together properly. Will try to contact the company after the weekend. Would love to be able to move this unit from where it was delivered but cannot install the wheels without the axle. I hope this isn't what the rest of my experiences are going to be like.

Reliable power.

Purchased the E7500 in 2015 during a week long power outage from a wind storm. It powered my furnace, lights, microwave, Keurig and toaster oven. It was 11 degrees F and very windy. I have used it several times since for minor projects. It starts every time with both battery and pull cord. It's on its second spark plug and battery. Love this generator.

Overall verry good, but needs a couple of things

Set up is easy except for the battery connections. Took almost an hour to get them connected. Had to bend the positive lead tab inorder to connect it to the terminal. I think this could be easily fixed by rotating the battery 180 degrees and changing the length of the battery cables. The battery clamps would have to be also changed. Would be a bear for one person to assemble. Fortunitely i have a hoist in my garage. Started within 3 seconds. Would be very nice to have a volt and amp meter.

Wheels/Axel Need Work

I bought this generator through home depot very easy purchase and delivery. The only suggestion I could make to Generac is that I would make a larger axel and increase the wheel size and replace with pneumatic tires. Other than that I wouldn’t change a thing. you can purchase pneumatic tires through a local shop and change them out! i just think Generac should just have it come standard.

GP8000E

I bought this generator after my old one (not a Generac) quit. I always shut off the fuel and let the carburetor run out of fuel. I also use Seafoam in the gas. This helps to stabilize the fuel and keeps the jets clean. I purchased a product called Generlink that fits behind my electric meter and allows me to plug the generator directly into the meter. I also use a solar power battery tender to keep the battery charged. I am very happy with how this generator performs.

Good for the price, but loud.

Generator started immediately the first time. No issues with operation. It is loud, and these models have no idle control so it's loud load or unloaded. For the price and for use as a backup it will suffice. Long-term quality and reliability will be determined in the future. But I bought Generac over the other manufacturer's due to commercial reputation. For the price, we'll see...

excellent product

I purchased the GP17500E to replace a Generac 15KW/22.5KW generator that I purchased new over 15 years ago. It is noticeably quieter than my old unit ( which still functions perfectly and is now my emergency backup ). Being that we live in S. Florida, having a reliable generator is extremely important. I had numerous brand options, but chose to go with a brand that has served me flawlessly for over 15 years through many hurricane related extended power outages. When you really NEED a generator to work; you will be glad you purchased a quality brand like Generac. I now own 4 Generac units. Two GP3600's for running several small window AC units 24/7 and my big GP17500 and my older 15KW model. Due to limitations on fuel storage, we only run the big unit 4-5 hours a day.. the little units will keep us at a comfortable temperature all day and night powering the window AC units using much less fuel.
