Very good product - easy to setup and use

I compared several different generators and chose a GP6500E - which I am very happy with! The intial setup took under 30 minutes, and it started right up. The durability and ease of use seem very good, and the electric start option was well worth the money. I would highly recommend this product.

GP15000E This generator and i have been through two hurracains

Just before August 9, 2004 – August 15, 2004 I acquired the GP15000E for construction work that i was doing at the time. some of my co workers said that for just for me using portable power it was way overkill but hey i'm just that way. So the overkill came in handy when Hurricane Charley arrived. Charley was brutal, killed power every where. Lucky for me, overkill and I had a lot of Power to run. I was lucky my neighbor was an electrician because i was just going to run fans and and a fridge. he happened to be around to help. In exchange for him hooking Overkill directly to my house"s breaker box so we can run the air conditioner I let him and his wife and his two little babies bunk with us which he really appreciated and so did i for his service. It was a hot for those four days that we went with out regular power but Overkill was a great investment. Not only that i went through with Charley but also moved to Texas just in time for Hurricane Ike in September 1, 2008 – September 15, 2008. Went three days with out regular power on that deal. There has been a few storms since then that my trusty Overkill has pulled me through some power outages. I would recommend for anybody to have a Generator of some sort but i recommend Generac because so far i have not had any problems with my Overkill, I"m glad i have that tool in my war chest. As a matter of fact a storm blew through Huntsville Texas yesterday 3/24/2017 that knocked down trees on the power lines that left me once again without power for about 10 hrs. Lucky for me i have Overkill here to save the day. well that my story , hope this helps you out with your decision on what power to buy

Bad Bad Bad

F...ing garbage. Do not buy. Runs rough if it starts. Worst generator I've ever had. I would say used but can't hardly use it. Bought new. Was garbage right out of the box. Should have returned. Spen up and get a Honda. This thing is junk

Great and reliable product to purchase.

2 of my friends, my sister and I brought the GP6500 Generator 2 days after Hurricane Helene hit our hometown in Georgia September 2024. I assisted 1 of my friend with the assembly process and I assembled both mine and my sister's generator by myself. It was a simple process. Once gas was added to the fuel tank, all of them cranked up on the first pull and stayed running until they either ran out of gas or was turned off manually. The generators was a life saver. They supplied power to what we needed and never failed to perform perfectly. They were used for 6 days before the utility company was able to provide us electricity again. I am now in the process of trying to get a manual transfer switch and power inlet box installed so that I can be more prepared for the next power outage. Thanks Generac.

Product has features I was looking for

Shopped around for other makes and always came back to the Generac reviews. Price is good. The company I bought it from Assembled it for me at no extra cost.I put in the oil and gas and started on the first pull. Tried all Receptacles on the generator. All worked. Bought it as a stand by in case we lose power.Good product

Ready in case of need.

Fires right up and hardly needs to be choked. The airless wheels make it easy to maneuver. The handle that raises/folds also makes it easy to move. Haven't had to use it for a power outage...yet, but have tested it on power tools and it ran them without any problems

Bring on Winter

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We live in the country and we have had some hard winters when the electric has been out. We have been wanting a generator for a good while, and finally got one. I didn't know anything about this brand, but "wow"! It had very little assembly out of the box. It is very sturdy and came with large wheels and a handle that uses both hands to keep it balanced, which makes it easy to maneuver. The handle locks in place and folds down when you don't need it. I was really surprised at the features it had. It had 4 plugs, and a 220 volt plug for larger appliances, like a washer or stove. Of course it's not winter, but when the power goes out we will be ready! We hooked it up to our power washer and was able to go beyond what we can usually do around the house. It started with the first pull and had the power to run various items that we tested it with, such as the power washer, welder and we even plugged it into a small camper to run the lights, etc. We are almost wanting a hard winter, just so we can use it. I am very happy with this generator and feel that it will last a lifetime. There is nothing flimsy about it and I think they thought of just about everything with this. I realize we didn't get to try it out for very long, but I can't think of any cons to this generator.

Besides being portable it has EXACTLY the features I was looking for!

I have been considering purchasing a backup power source for my home and had actually purchased a portable generator years ago. But as I've gotten older, having to pull the cord to get it started takes a toll on my shoulder and then there's the thought of my wife having to start it if I'm not home or able, it's no longer practicable. So I have been weighing my options and this unit looks great, compact, has electric start! Even included the battery. Although, I haven't needed it just yet, I feel confident that when I do I'm going to be able to get it going without injuring myself. and i won't have to worry about having being without power!!

99% Happy

This generator was easy to assemble and fired-up immediately. Quieter than I expected based on neighbors' units and some of the chatter online. Easy to move the generator around. The 1% unhappiness is based on the difficulty to add the oil. The generator is designed to receive oil at an almost 90-degree angle, so you need to spend a crazy amount of time carefully adding little amounts at a time or go buy a funnel with a flexible line. Also, the oil supplied does not indicate the type/weight of the oil and neither does the generator's manual. You can find it online at generac.com FAQ section. It's easy to see why it's an FAQ.

A BEAST for hurricane season!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We live in Central Florida, and unfortunately having a generator has become a necessity for the months of August-October. We’ve spent too many days post-storm without power, losing both groceries and our minds (from heat). With the hurricanes seemingly getting worse each year, we finally decided it’s time to invest. We jumped on a Generac due to the reliable name brand and reputable quality. Needless to say, the recommendations received from family were good ones because we’re seriously impressed with this thing, so much so that our neighbor saw it delivered and came over to also rave about the Generac brand. One of my favorite features is that this generator can take propane, gasoline, or natural gas. It’s pretty strong and can power appliances, fans, cell phones (imperative), internet, and other small conveniences to keep children occupied. We also plan to invest in a window AC so that we can still have a bit of cold air in at least one room! Just having all of the necessities accessible makes a scary situation just a tad bit more tolerable. As with most generators, this one is HEAVY so be prepared with a plan for moving it prior to getting the wheels on (delivery slip said 275lbs!) We needed three adults to lift and move it, but the wheels definitely help once installed. All parts are heavy-duty, yet easy to operate, but just be aware that this is quite big and quite heavy. That’s understandable with such a powerful unit. If you’re in a hurricane prone area like me, this is one of those purchases that you hope you never need, but will be pleased when you do need it! It’ll definitely make the post-storm recovery just a little bit easier.
