[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Has already been a life-saver this fall. Lost power briefly within two weeks receiving it. I don't have a washer or dryer, so can't comment on how it would handle an entire load of heavy appliances, but it covered everything else. I lose power a few times a year and work from home, so this is pretty essential for me! It is very heavy, so I did need help moving it and getting it out of the box to set up, but after that everything was simple.

Being a senior citizen,I needed less complicated products.This generator is exactly what I needed for me to maintain.Not as heavy as some and makes it easier for me to move it without help.Coming from an area with frequent storms causing power outages, this is just right for what I need..

After having our electrical disconnect professionally installed by the power company our Generac GP17500E, Provides power to our 5,800 square foot home without interruption. Just to give you little back ground as to what it operates is as follows: 5 ton heat and AC, well, for water, Three deep freezers, two kitchens, all lighting and electrical, etc... I can't get over how impressed I am how efficient the generator operates. The added bonus is that I can transport the generator and multi task with it as well. I also bought it due the great reviews for their warranty. Knock on wood I have not needed to use but its there. Love my Generac

This generator was easy to assemble and fired-up immediately. Quieter than I expected based on neighbors' units and some of the chatter online. Easy to move the generator around. The 1% unhappiness is based on the difficulty to add the oil. The generator is designed to receive oil at an almost 90-degree angle, so you need to spend a crazy amount of time carefully adding little amounts at a time or go buy a funnel with a flexible line. Also, the oil supplied does not indicate the type/weight of the oil and neither does the generator's manual. You can find it online at generac.com FAQ section. It's easy to see why it's an FAQ.

Bought this unit during a major power outage following a wind storm. Easy to set up, but unit didn't like full choke setting to start in high temp. Used 2 120V outlets for my house. One to connect to a strip to power freezer, modem & router in basement. Also ran sump pump b4 connecting to freezer. Connected 2nd outlet to strip on 1st floor to run fridge, LCD TV and fan. Let one of my neighbors use 3rd 120V outlet to run his fridge & freezer. Heard change in pitch of generator, when a compressor powered up. Unit worked without problem for 10½ hours, when commercial power came back up. Used about a full 7.2 gal tank. Very pleased with performance. It was a little noisy in the room next to the deck, where it sat, but not unbearable.

Recieved from fed Ex in great shape, no dings or dents. Simple, straight-forward minimal assembly. Pressed electric start button and starter only spun, NOT engaging the flywheel. Pulled hand starter once and fire right up. Put included battery charger on. Next day tried electric starter and no issues, so battery needed 'topping off' even though sent as 'charged'. Battery seems a bit small for this size engine. My lawn tractor has a bigger batter for the same HP. This is going to be a covered, outside unit and it will be seeing and starting in below freezing temps. Will be interesting. Will be kept on the battery charger

Compared to our old (small, little dude) DuroStar generator, the difference is incredible. See my side by side comparison of the two generators. The old one was unable to power our whole home. Mainly had it to keep the fridge on and perhaps a lamp. As you can see from the photos, the Generac is much more compact, yet it delivers so much more power and efficiency. They have kids too. So having power is important for them as well. Our power grids out here and very unreliable. One night all it took was someone hitting one pole in our town to knock out all the subdivisions power. Even though we didn’t purchase this unit ourselves, we would absolutely invest in Generac products in the future based on this experience. The GP6500E TF has exceeded our expectations in every way. We can now rest easy knowing that no matter how bad the weather gets, we’ll have the power we need to stay comfortable and safe. Love the solar options they have on their website! We’re campers so definitely gonna get one of those. I need to crockpot it in the forest!! Bought the 17.5 KW to run my whole house, including the well. My wife is dependent upon ventilators to help her breathe and I needed a generator big enough to run the well and AC units since we have several power outages a year due to hurricanes and storms.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This was initially for hurricane purposes but I have a feeling it will be used for more than that! Upon opening I discovered that there was a 25ft 20amp cord included, which was great, one less cord I had to purchase! From my understanding, there is a pull start and an electric start version of this model. I have the pull start, which I was a bit worried about, honestly, see as how I always struggle with starting up the lawnmower, haha. But, I can honestly say, this was a lot easier to start up than I expected! This generator has huge heavy duty wheels and handle bars, making it soo much easier to transport it wherever I need it to be at in the yard! Also, the handle bars fold down and lock into place making it a bit more compact for those who are limited space! After checking things out a bit and reading the instruction manual, it's to my understanding that it is equipped with a nifty little feature, it has a low-oil level shut down feature that helps protect the engine from any damage! This is wonderful for those who are not used to checking their oil level or just completely forget because so much is going on! This generator is wonderful so far! I have not been able to use it for a super long period of time, but it has been used for powering a pressure washer for a decent length of time for a side job! I have confidence that this will work wonders for a power outage, work/side jobs or even for some camping trips! Very happy with it so far!
