Electric start, Tri Fuel

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Generac GP9500E is a portable generator capable of using gasoline, liquid propane or natural gas (Tri-fuel). With electric start and wheeled cart, this generator is easy for anyone to use. 9.5 hour run time on gasoline, (7.5 gal) 4.5 hours on a 20lb propane tank (when used at 50% power). Used a CO2 sensor to automatically stop and alert user to dangerous levels. Included are engine oil, battery, and 4 foot LP hose with regulator. Weighs in at 219 lbs and includes a 3 year limited warranty. Has (covered) 2 standard 120v 20 amp plug receptacles, one 120/240v 30 amp twist lock receptacles, and one 120v/240v 50 amp heavy duty outlet. HomeLink manual transfer compatible. This generator replaced our old one that was not push start- what a pain in the butt. This one is easy enough for anyone to switch on- not just strong people. Smooth running and much quieter that our previous portable. The ability to run three different fuel sources is just fantastic. MADE IN THE USA Can’t go wrong with Generac brand generators. Provides peace of mind that you can preserve freezer and refrigerator contents when the power goes out or for RV use. Very happy with this generator, highly recommended.

Safety!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Put oil and gas in this baby a she fired right up, didn't skip a beat!! I am so happy and relieved to have this "security blanket" just in case of a snowstorm, as our main heat source comes from a pellet stove. I feel safe now that I have this reliable backup!!

I bought this during hurricane season since my other generator did not put out power anymore,it started great but shut down 15 min. later, I can restart it, but it kept shutting off every few minutes. The CO2 sensor is just too sensitive. You can’t have it near anything pretty much out in the open. It’s kinda hard when it’s raining and you can’t even run it under a tarp other than that, I guess it’s a good machine. Hopefully it will start up for me next Hurricane season, I would give it a five star if there is a way to disconnect that CO2 sensor and not void warranty

Worked PERFECTLY, as expected!!

Last night was the "maiden voyage" of my new 8000 Watt generator, as we lost power from the explosion of a local transformer from heat related power overload. GENERAC to the rescue...it took all of 10 minutes to roll the generator out of the garage, hook up the power cable, start the machine, flip the transfer switch and back to the comfort of lights, TV and A/C, etc. While my old 3500 WATT generator performed well for the past 12 years, A/C was not an option, nor was using the microwave and other applicances. My new GENERAC machine performed flawlessly with gasoline consumption and noise both being reasonable. Bought it directly from GENERAC; the process and delivery were convenient and easy. I recommended this unit to my next door neighbor last night and he bought one this morning, and I would recommend GENERAC to everybody. Great product and great customer service (sales and delivery).

A few disappointments with the 17500W generator purchase

I have not started the generator yet but in getting it ready I've identified a few disappointing aspects. First and probably the biggest disappointment is the requirement to measure valve clearance at every 50 hour interval. The owners manual informs you this is pretty complicated (without describing the procedure) and suggests you have a qualified dealer do it (...did I mention the requirement for every 50 hours of operation?). The generator came with a note indicating the unit is "shipped without oil" and they supply 2 quarts for the required 1.7 quart capacity. When I poured the first quart in, the oil level was well above full on the dipstick ….indicating the engine was not even close to empty of oil. I also found the assembly instructions to be near non-existent because the exploded view of the assembly was so small in the users manual; also - it did not reference torques for any bolts or wear lock washers vs. nylon nuts should be used. I also noted two wires stretched very tight across the oil filter - which needed to be disconnected and re-connected following a less stressful path. I truly hope the generator will work well despite these initial findings.

Not the quality produced I expected

I purchased my Generac generator right after the hurricane and initially it worked fine. After a day or so the 120V electrical panel started malfunctioning - the Ground Fault breaker kept tripping under load. Then it wouldn't reset at all. I had to source a four prong plug from Illinois to use the other electrical panel and that took days to get here. So, I had to go purchase a second generator - not a Generac. After normal household power returned, I took the Generac to a repair shop where it sat for four months waiting on parts. Overall, I don't think I would recommend a Generac to anyone. Poor quality and even worse warranty service. Now I have an $800 paper weight.

Must have for hurricane season!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This TriFuel Generator by Generac is going to come in very handy come hurricane season. Living in central Florida, a generator is a must have! This one runs on natural gas, gasoline and propane. We tried it first with propane and it started right up with the battery start, and it quickly shut right off when we closed to valve on the propane tank. Last year there was a huge issue with finding gas after Hurricane Milton, now that we can also use propane I feel so much more prepared!

Awesome

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This was initially for hurricane purposes but I have a feeling it will be used for more than that! Upon opening I discovered that there was a 25ft 20amp cord included, which was great, one less cord I had to purchase! From my understanding, there is a pull start and an electric start version of this model. I have the pull start, which I was a bit worried about, honestly, see as how I always struggle with starting up the lawnmower, haha. But, I can honestly say, this was a lot easier to start up than I expected! This generator has huge heavy duty wheels and handle bars, making it soo much easier to transport it wherever I need it to be at in the yard! Also, the handle bars fold down and lock into place making it a bit more compact for those who are limited space! After checking things out a bit and reading the instruction manual, it's to my understanding that it is equipped with a nifty little feature, it has a low-oil level shut down feature that helps protect the engine from any damage! This is wonderful for those who are not used to checking their oil level or just completely forget because so much is going on! This generator is wonderful so far! I have not been able to use it for a super long period of time, but it has been used for powering a pressure washer for a decent length of time for a side job! I have confidence that this will work wonders for a power outage, work/side jobs or even for some camping trips! Very happy with it so far!

Better than the rest.

After extensive research, IMO this unit has all the spec's I require to run my home in an emergency power outage. After Irene and Sandy leaving me out of power for a combined 25 days, I don't have to split wood any more. This unit was more than adequate for running the 240v essentials in my home, furnace, water pump, water heater and my son's fish tanks. I suggest getting a unit that is a little more than you need. This one is 50 amps, My new GP15,000E was a lot quieter than I expected and the idle switch is great, only runs engine to speed as power is required. Generac should do a DB sound test on these units and post the results as it would no doubt better persuade folks to purchase these portable generators. It should also come with 4 locking wheels.
