I bought the Generac GP6500E because of an extended power outage last Christmas. We recently had a Fall snow storm and were out of power for 4 days. The generator performed very well during the outage. Started on 1st or second pull every time. Provided all the power I needed to run the well, furnace, lights, TV, satellite dish, Fridge and freezer. It would run longer than the 10 hours the specs say at half load. Only issue is that it is a little bulky to move around if you are not on pavement. It is a good sized machine so it sinks in a bit on grass, especially if it is wet. The wheels are good sized and the frame is sturdy but it is heavy enough to make it a little difficult on grass, sand. The wheels also pack up with snow and stop rolling so you need to keep the path clear to the ground or clear the wheels frequently. Other than that it has been a good machine.

Had a hurricane coming our way so decided to purchase a generac because of its reputation. Set it all up and tested it out, but never used it because the storm turned and headed up the coast. We at least have comfort knowing we are covered if another storm heads our way, which is likely because we live in Florida.

Great generator for the price! easy set up. It also will be easy to maintain.Easy to start. just to see what i could run with it i put it through its paces. I ran 5 lights, 2 fans, 3 electric heaters, well pump, refrigerator, freezer, heat lamp, garage door opener. it ran all of it without any problem. I was bold enough to run all the above and turn on the hot water tank. now thats when the generator knew it had a load on it for sure. overall great product! its all i need if the power goes out. its even wife friendly.

Guess I’m turning into my Dad….have been wanting a Generator and finally broke down and bought one. Chose this model due to its capability to power most everything in my house and due to it’s ease of use if I’m at work and my family needs to use it. I also installed a Generator service to my house to make it safer to hook up in the event I’m not home. Haven’t got to use it yet other than a few test runs. Honestly hope we don’t need it but It’s a Generac so it will be ready when we do.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] For camping trips and times when my neighborhood experience power outages, this generator is able to power my table saw, chop saw, circular saw, and keep my Fridge running without any struggles. My family took it camping this past weekend and we were all pleasantly surprised at how quiet it was! It is much lighter than my previous generator as well. With two small children and a small wife I needed a device I could easily lift into the back of my truck myself and this one fit that ask and all of my needs and beyond!

Purchased this Generac, after a series of power outages, at a major retailer. (I had gotten quotes for over $10k for a 20 KW standby whole house Generac Gaurdian Series with a 46 week lead & install time). Put it together and had it running in 35 minutes. Although it is bulky and heavy to move around, we have it stored in the garage until needed. Had a Electrician install a plug outside and tied it into our breaker box with an interlock. Our test seems to run everything that is needed in our 1,850 sq ft home. Very happy that for about a total of $2k, I can deal with lugging the portable generator 60ft to our spot to plug it in. Love the electric start and plan on monthly 20-30 minute running test! So far very happy with this set up! Now for the real test of losing power!

Brought my new GP8000E generator home, unboxed it, assembled it, prepped it for the first run and then started it and watched as gas ran out of the air cleaner box. The only way I could get it to stop was to siphon the gas out of the tank. Apparently during the manufacturing of the unit someone mis-installed, mis-assembled or mis-welded the internal tank vent tube allowing gas to leak continuously from the tank. Serious safety hazard if I had not caught it. I went and talked to my local Generac reseller service center and was told they are 1 to 1.5 months backlogged but go ahead and drop it off, and of course he had never run across this issue before. Will I be buying another Generac product again…… NEVER. And for you wondering why I don’t give them a second chance…. this was their second chance. I had bought a smaller generator about 10 years ago for emergency use only. It only got started every 3 months and ran for an hour. I changed the oil and as it was draining out I saw aluminum particles coming out with the oil. So it only had a few hours on it but the engine had deteriorated internally and was past the warranty so it was junk.

Bought this generator for home backup in preparation of hurricane season. Compared to other generators at the store it offered the most features for the price. Put the oil and fuel, hit the electric start button and it started right up. Ran it for about 15-20 minutes and found no issues. Looking forward to having electricity next time a hurricane comes though.

I have had the pleasure of not having to use my generator that I purchased just over a year ago. However for the first time this summer it was finally used but yet again not by me. During a series of severe weather outbreak a friend of mine last power due to downed trees. I offer my generator to him to help keep his basement from flooding. His intention were just to use it for the sump pump. He ended up running not only the pump, but his freezers, refrigerator, air conditioning units and other things. He used it for 40 hours straight and forgot he was even on a generator until he had to fill it after the first 27 hours of run time.
