I spit in Hurricane Sandy's eye!

This is a good unit for the money as it ran well with no hiccups. The only issue of significance was the 5-gallon tank, so we had to run the unit in intervals while we searched for gas. But this unit has good features with a clear fuel gauge, the electric start with pull-cord back-up, the included battery, charger & the wheels (some co.'s sell units with wheels as an option) and a run-time meter. Minor inconveniences included the needed oil change after a short run and having to play with the choke on start-up.

Well made, start on the first crank of the electric starter.

I live on the east coast of Florida so need a good home backup generator when the power goes out. Power was out for two weeks after the last big hurricane. The GP7500E is an upgrade from the 5500 Watt generator that ran almost constantly during the two weeks power was out. I wanted to ensure the same performance so Generac was my choice.

GREAT GENERATOR--EXCEEDED MY EXPECTATIONS!

Assembly took less than 30-minutes and it started effortlessly right out of the box. A “field test” of the new generator was conducted two days later. After a two hour test run, with all the transfer panel breakers turned on, and nearly every component of a “normal load” placed on the generator--from the well pump to the dishwasher, and from the furnace to the refrigerator & water heater--the GP7500E generator handled the load effortlessly. However, I've recently discovered one issue that remains distressing. In the owner's manual, Generac DOES NOT recommend running the generator in rain or snow. This is equivalent to a "Catch 22" in back-up, emergency power! After all, inclement weather--blizzards, hurricanes, tornados, ice storms, etc--are the causes of power outages in the first place creating the need for back-up generators! So the food in your refrigerator must spoil because it's raining outside? Really?

It took me less than 30 minutes to put on the wheels and handle, put gas in the tank, and start the generator.

Set up was fast and the directions made it easy. We ran the generator for 60 hours straight only stopping to put in gas and check the oil. The generator started quickly and never gave us any issues. We used the 220V outlet to run power to our breaker boxes. This allowed us greater comfort than running many extension cords.

I recommend this product

The generator is easy to use and to move around. The portability makes it useful in a number of different situations. The generator is a bit noisier than I would like, however, the convenience and ease of use out weighs this distraction. Should we experience another hurricane, we will be quite comfortable and safe. We plan to have this wired into our system so that our whole house will have power in the event of an extended outage.

THIS PRODUCT WAS DEFECTIVE

WE BOUGHT THIS GENERATOR AND THE LAST THING WE DID WAS PUT FUEL IN IT AND IT LEAKED ALL OVER THE PLACE. WE TRIED TAKING IT BACK TO THE STORE BUT THEY WOULDN'T ACCEPT IT BECAUSE IT ALREADY HAD FUEL AND OIL IN IT AND SAID WE HAD TO TAKE IT TO A SERVICE STORE. WE HADN'T HAD IT FOR ONE HOUR AND HAVE TO DO THAT OURSELVES. NOT SURE WHAT WE ARE GOING TO DO AT THIS POINT.

The GP6500E is just what I needed for my 5th wheel camper.

I had researched different generators for use with my 5th wheel camper. I wanted a output range of 6000 - 7000 watts. In looking at the various brand that were available on the market I found that the Generac GP6500E was within the range I wanted. It had the option of battery or pull start with a battery wall charger. There was a 120/240 twist outlet that I would be able to use a twist adapter to convert to the existing power cord on the camper. The large capacity fuel tank would give me longer times between fill ups. With the additional four 120 volt outlets I could also plug in any additional electrical component outside the camper. My determining factor was that Generac makes generators of all ratings and uses and that they would have the dependability and reliability that I would need. They also have a toll free number to call for service 24/7.

Great Portable Generator

We lost power due to a storm and it was going to be at least of couple of days before it came back. I bought this one in a pinch but hindsight I'm really glad I did. Very easy to operate and starting was a snap. I was easily able to run my two refrigerators and three freezers, with room for more. I'll get this tied into the house and be able to run my well and furnace as well. Great product!
