Was a lifesaver when needed.

A derecho came through our city on August 10, 2020. Severely damaging the power grid to the city. I purchased a RS8000E the following day. I needed the unit to run a refrigerator and freezer, but more importantly my mothers oxygen generator. We were without power for eight days. The only issue I had was with the user manual no specifying that flipping the 30 amp circuit breaker need to be turned on to activate the two 120V outlets. I figured it out and had no issues with the generator. The generator definitely paid for itself. I would recommended this unit to anyone.

Fantastic Generator!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This GP8000E COS W/Cord 49 St is a very high quality product. You will be impressed right out of the box before you finish the simple assembly with all the features. Generator started immediately the first time. No issues with operation. It is perfect in every way! I have never had any problems with it thus far. I like that it reminds you when maintenance needs performed. I especially like the four outlet cord that comes with it. This cord allows you to use both legs of the 240 volts at once! Highly recommend! You cannot brat Generac for quality and performance.

GP 8000

I owned a Generac 5500 for 15 years so I decided to buy a new, larger one. Great product Except for the Electrical Cord that was included in the carton. It is a cord for contractors to use on a job site. If it were used as a cord for home use, one would have to snake it through the door and attach 3 additional cords to it to operate 3 devices. MY HOME is wired to accept my Generac through my main service panel. Now I have no acceptable cord.

Outstanding generator and easy to use

After several power outages (ice, wind storms, etc.), I bought this generator after the recommendation of an electrician friend. He has one for his home, and he definitely made a great recommendation. While I was out of town one evening, all the power went out in the neighborhood. My 16-year old daughter was able to pull the generator out of the garage, run extension cords, and connect the refrigerator and two freezers. She had help from a friend, only because she had never used it before. We didn't lose any frozen or refrigerated items. Highly recommend this generator for home use!!!

This generator has about average features

I purchased this generator as a back up for my home, and used it only 5 hrs and I haven't found it to be any better or worse to setup or features it offers. It is not as quiet as I had hoped. I have owned or own 6 generators. Size of those units have ranged from 2000w-15,000watts. The gas cap was very difficult to remove to fill with gas. Attaching the battery cables was not easy at all and I have some mechanical ability. Battery location could be better. Oil that comes with the unit does not give a 30W, 10W-30 label and does not indicate the size of the container, 32oz, 24oz, 42oz.. I did enjoy the ease of transporting it from the house where I assembled it to the shed in several inches of snow, where it is stored. That distance is 125 ft. The Generac brand has been around for years so I hope to get 1000 hrs + of use with no mechanical service issues.

A work horse for the Mid-West weather!!

After the several months of Severe Mid -West weather and constant power outages! We up graded our generator to the GP6500. It was very easy to set up as well as to use! The features that is nice to have on this unit were the large 7 1/2 gal gas tank, easy to pull start and power to supply my entire house!! This unit is not only great for home back up power but we also took it on our hunting trip and made the trip just a little more like home!

Works great for emergency backup power

After several years of wanting a generator for backup power during utility power outages, and several years of putting it off, I finally bought a Generac GP8000E. I chose this model because it just happened to be available where I was shopping and because of Generac's overall good reputation. I also wanted a generator in this 7500 to 10,000 watt category. I added a third-party mechanical lock-out mechanism and a 40 amp double pole back-feed breaker to my main breaker panel, and fed it through a 30-amp power inlet box. The mechanical lock-out acts as a manual transfer switch, in compliance with electrical codes and safety regulations. This keeps me, my generator, my house, and power company personnel all safe. This arrangement allows me to power my entire house (except my central air conditioning) all on the GP8000E. My historical electrical usage data indicated that during non-A/C months, I never drew more that 5000 watts from the power company at any given time. Thus this 8000 watt -capable generator is perfect! I even measured the AC current with typical household loads all turned on (lights, refrigerator, basement freezer, computers, etc.) while running on this generator and I got a reading around 7 to 10 amps on each "hot" leg of the 240 volt 30 amp feed from the generator. Thus I still have a very comfortable "cushion" before I approach this generator's maximum power rating. I bought this generator about 2 years ago. I've only needed to use it a couple of times, but tonight I *needed* it! It started right up and ran continuously for about 7 hours straight. No problems. It provided all the power we needed for lights, refrigeration, TV, and computers all without a hiccup. I'm very pleased.

Excellent!

Ran this generator for almost 5 months everyday after Hurricanes Irma and Maria. Was the only thing that kept the family from going insane. Absolutely trustworthy and it never skipped a beat. The electric switch stopped working but with the manual start we never went a day without power. Heard a lot of people complain about their generators but we never had a problem.

Great!!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Compact, reliable power. This GP9500E from Generac has a small footprint, yet packs some serious power. This is capable of running on gasoline, LP (propane) or natural gas. Rated at 12500 starting watts and 9500 running watts when running on gasoline. The 500cc OHV (over head valve) engine features electric start with the included battery, as well as the old school pull start just in case the battery or something fails. It holds 7.5 gallons of gasoline and will run 9.5 hours at 50%. There is an included 4 foot long LP adapter hose and a 20lb tank will run 4.5 hours under the same conditions. Propane will lower the output slightly at 11250 starting and 8550 running watts. If you run natural gas it lowers it to 9000 and 7000. The included handle and wheel kit makes it super easy to move it around when needed and the handle folds down to store neatly. There are many great features built in, such as covered outlets for added protection when being used in the elements, CO sense technology that will shut the machine down if CO levels get too high and a low oil l cel shutdown that will stop the engine if it detects low oil to save the engine from damage. It is also compatible with HomeLink manual transfer switch kit to help power your home in the event of a power outage. This is especially helpful at our house as we have a well and when the power goes out, there is no water. So this adds peace of mind in those situations. Setup was simple with the included directions, which are also printed on the top flap of the box. Everything you need aside from a couple of very basic tools is included as well. The front panel contains an hour meter to keep track of how much use the machine has had. When running this is on the quiet side for a machine of this size. I am extremely pleased with this generator. From the ease of setup to the ease of use this generator is awesome.

This Is a Very Exceptionally Powerful Generator

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I got this a few weeks ago and was very excited to try it out and see its capabilities. Upon first thorough inspection while guided by the Manual I discovered the clutch lever was missing. The clutch is fully functional; it was just missing the piece to easily start it. All other parts were accounted for and appeared to be in good shape and order. I read through the very easy to understand but thorough instruction manual before starting it. I brought it to my family’s winery to test on machinery and coolers and the business as a whole. Upon first attempt to start it the pull cord got stuck and hung outside of the spool it was supposed to return inside of. I removed the housing to fix it and discovered the housing was dented. I smoothed our those dents and replaced the cord and spool and housing as it was. I then started it effectively and started to hook up the winery’s necessary appliances and machinery. The entire winery successfully ran off of the generator for an entire hour before we shut it off. I love the functionality of this generator and I’m so satisfied owning it because we get quite a few storms that shut power off at my home. It has carbon monoxide detection systems running automatically that shut the generator off if levels become unsafe or rapidly increase which is literally a life saver! It can run for up to 11 hours on a 50% power load which is plenty for my house! I definitely recommend this Generac Generator to anyone that needs an extr source of power that is reliable! If it hadn’t been for the minor mishaps in the beginning I’d have given this A 100% positive review!
