This generator is worth it's weight in gold. I live in New Jersey and I was hit hard by hurricane sandy. I was without power for ten days. I bought this generator and it powered my whole house and my neighbors house during the black out. I would highly recommend this product. The set up was easy and also the operation of this product. It also has a nice big gas tank for less fill ups and last up to 12 hours on one tank. All my neighbors want one.

This has been a great unit right out of the box. Easy to assemble, simple easy to read starting and usage instructions, portable and enough power to maintain my home in a safe and functional state during a power outage. Easy electric start for my wife if I am away on business. Great generator, bought 2 more for my children's homes.

This particular model has enough available power to run an average 3 bed room house including the furnace and refrigerator. To ensure a no overload condition have refrigerator turned off until furnace or ac kicks in then turn on. Easy to maintain and easy starting.

This unit is a very high quality product. You will be impressed right out of the box before you finish the simple assembly. Lots of features. Reminds you when maintenance needs performed. I especially like the four outlet cord that comes with it. This cord allows you to use both legs of the 240 volts instead of just one side. This gives you the ability to use the full rared output of the generator not just 1/2. The receptacles on the control panel also allow for this same usage. the automatic throttle control saves fuel as I usually do not need 8000 watts of power when dry camping with my RV. I just retired from 47 years in factory skilled trades maintenance and I am a skilled trades instructor at a local 2 year college and I am very impressed with this generator.

A derecho came through our city on August 10, 2020. Severely damaging the power grid to the city. I purchased a RS8000E the following day. I needed the unit to run a refrigerator and freezer, but more importantly my mothers oxygen generator. We were without power for eight days. The only issue I had was with the user manual no specifying that flipping the 30 amp circuit breaker need to be turned on to activate the two 120V outlets. I figured it out and had no issues with the generator. The generator definitely paid for itself. I would recommended this unit to anyone.

We chose the 6500E over other models due to it's many positive reviews from multiple sites and its features for the price. I especially like the number of available 20 amp outlets plus the 20 foot power cord. I specifically wanted the electric start and the automatic voltage regulation, and the rubber outlet covers are a great addition! Cons: The set-up instruction card had several minor errors and omissions. For example - the set up instructions did not mention that the fuel line was disconnected at the shut-off valve and needed to be connected by the owner. Good thing I saw it during my initial inspection. Suggestions: An onboard voltage meter (and maybe a manual voltage adjustment) would be a great addition, so the output voltage can be monitored without needing a separate meter. And it would be nice to have an onboard power meter showing amperage draw. But, for the price this model is perfectly adequate for our needs. Unfortunately, the week we received our generator, the price dropped $50. Wish I had waited one more week.

This is capable of running on gasoline, LP (propane) or natural gas. Rated at 12500 starting watts and 9500 running watts when running on gasoline. The 500cc OHV (over head valve) engine features electric start with the included battery, as well as the old school pull start just in case the battery or something fails. It holds 7.5 gallons of gasoline and will run 9.5 hours at 50%. There is an included 4 foot long LP adapter hose and a 20lb tank will run 4.5 hours under the same conditions. Propane will lower the output slightly at 11250 starting and 8550 running watts. If you run natural gas it lowers it to 9000 and 7000. The included handle and wheel kit makes it super easy to move it around when needed and the handle folds down to store neatly. There are many great features built in, such as covered outlets for added protection when being used in the elements, CO sense technology that will shut the machine down if CO levels get too high and a low oil l cel shutdown that will stop the engine if it detects low oil to save the engine from damage. It is also compatible with HomeLink manual transfer switch kit to help power your home in the event of a power outage. This is especially helpful at our house as we have a well and when the power goes out, there is no water. So this adds peace of mind in those situations. Setup was simple with the included directions, which are also printed on the top flap of the box. Everything you need aside from a couple of very basic tools is included as well. The front panel contains an hour meter to keep track of how much use the machine has had. When running this is on the quiet side for a machine of this size. I am extremely pleased with this generator. From the ease of setup to the ease of use this generator is awesome.

Had to replace my old generator (That was not a generac) that had for the last 15 years. Bought this from a local vendor. The unit started right up. I already have a generac home standby but It really uses the propane to run all night. I use this to just run fridge and furnace at night. The home standby was the best purchase ever. Soon as the power goes out the standby will start right up. I have the 6500 run just a few circuits when don't want the standby running. The 6500 has electric start which is nice. I was without power when 1st bought and it ran for 16 hours straight. No problems. I would recommend the generac name to anyone. After bought my home standby my inlaws bought one and love it. Highly recommend the portable 6500E.

This generator is an excellent choice for backup electricity, once outages take place. I live in Florida, home of the hurricanes and when the power is gone, homes inside become 88-92 degrees warm. After this last hurricane, I said no more ... so decided to invest in not only a generator but the top free standing generator I could buy. This "Bear" as I call it ... can power the following just off the 50 amp take; 4 ton a/c, two refrigerators, microwave, TV, all lighting in the home, garage door openers. I can turn on the stove as long as the a/c unit is off. Oh ... and I supply my neighbor with a 30 amp outlet for his refrigerator and fans. The "Bear" doesn't even flinch. Two neighbors have already come by and have asked me for information on where I purchased "The Bear". There is one set back I found when assembling the electrical connections. The 50 amp receptacle located underneath the electrical panel on the generator is placed with the ground connection located at "9-o'clock". So, in order for your plug to function correctly and capable of using the safety metal pin in case of disengagement, you must use a "50 amp round male plug". Only way you can keep the proper alignment. Otherwise, by using the common 50 amp plug, the cord will be laying off to the side of the muffler where it becomes very, very hot for obvious reasons. I did not find any information as to the set up or 50 amp plugs to be used while assembling. Otherwise, this is a great generator and I am very proud of my "Made in U.S.A." product. "Quality you can see, quality you can test … because it is quality at its best".

Well, I bought this a couple years ago to use when we go camping. I used it once and had no issues. Today I got it out to power my furnace in the house. None of the outlets have power. I checked the breakers and no luck. I tried the GFCI, but it won’t trip because of no power.
