These Romaine lettuce hearts are pretty good. They seem to last a long time in the refrigerator. I recommend separating one or two out into a different bag for convenience. The price is extremely good, but I actually wish it wasn't this cheap, because that means the laborers who bring this to us aren't being paid enough for their very hard work.

Usually it's pretty good lettuce, but the last pack I purchased was pretty close to bolting, very green and wilty. Even the inner heart was dark green and a tad bitter. It's usually much better than this. Also, if you want to order it via curbside pickup, it's frequently listed as out of stock online, yet is available in the store. It's Literaturally been out of stock online for over 3 months now, yet was on the shelf inside. Someone isn't listing it online, at least not at the Dothan AL store.

These also came in the same order (pick up service) with now 3 bad products (I don't know what happened in Sam's Club this time, because this is not the first time I use this service and include perishables and I've never had a bad experience before) So these were not the freshest but were not as bad as the celery... however every head of lettuce had a lot of insects between the leaves (they looked like gnats or fruit flies, I am not sure) I had to wash them well. I don't have pictures as the insects went down the drain.

I washed 3 large bunches of tge Romaine and sat them in a bowl while i pulled off each individual.leaf to be handwashed and stored in tupperwste style bowls. Usually tbe moisture from washing them keeps them very crisp tbis way. Sadly i threw the whole bag worth out because as tbey were sotging in my prewash bowl small mite l9oking bugs started crawling around the bottom of tve bowl. Even tbough i washed 3 and tried to convince myself they would be clean i decided to trash them all. Between the bugs and the virus rhat coukd go beyween tbe air holes on tbe bag i figured it woukd bother me too much mentally when i went to eat it anyway. Nornally a huge fan of this Romaine.

I ordered this lettuce for store pickup. I should have examined it before I left the store, but I didn't. When I got home, I found that the lettuce was turning brown and the expiration date was long past. This lettuce should not have even been on the shelf. I would not recommend ordering this product for store pickup, and I would advise shoppers to carefully inspect products before purchasing them.

I am amazed at how WELL this holds up in the fridge, opened or unopened. I have been using it slowly, because it is a LOT of lettuce. It was enough to share with my dad. After a while, I put a clean piece of paper towel in the pack to absorb any moisture to keep it fresh. If you want to eat salad daily, this is a must purchase!
