Carpets had not been cleaned for twelve years, since original installation. With four cats and a dog and not wanting the services of "professional" cleaner we did due diligence on various brands and features and decided to purchase this model by Bissell. Selling features were dual tanks, edge brushes for cleaning next to baseboards, deep cleaning, quick drying, ease of operation and light weight. The ProHeat 2x did a superb job. Carpets were restored to original condition and now we have our own machine that we can clean with at any time we wish. Great job Bissell.

I bought this believing that I would end up returning it. I started in my master bedroom and was blown away to see the water was literally black. I ended up changing the water a second time before completing my room then I did both my sons room and the hallway and steps. Each room was a refill in the clean water and every time I emptied the full tank it was black! I was blown away cause I couldn't believe I had been living with that in my carpet. I am a believer from now on & will never be without my bissell cleaner. Will not be returning and will use often! Love it!

I'm not sure is going on inside my carpet cleaner but the dirt comes back out of the rollers when I'm cleaning. I see the Clearwater level going down but I don't see the dirty water coming back up. This is the second time I've used it and I'm not sure if it even cleaned it. Im about ready to return it because it isn't worth the hassle of cleaning up wet dirt twice.

I recently purchased this machine due to my senior cat having accidents outside his litter box. It is simple to set up, easy use & I only thought my carpets were clean with the old loaner shampooer machine I used. It's amazing & no more kitty litter accident smells on the carpet!

Cleans pretty good. When I used the sample of "Professional cleaner" it was like watching a miracle at how the stains just disappeared. The other two cleaners "oxy" and the one with the yellow lid weren't anything special and I honestly wondered if I had made a good purchase until I used the professional cleaner in it. Then, woah!!!! So, that being said, if you already have a cleaner, I might suggest trying this solution in yours before buying a new carpet cleaner. My biggest complaint is that you have to change the water approximately every 3-5 minutes. It barely holds any before the suction turns off and you have to empty the reservoir. The carpet cleaner has great suction and pulled up tons of dog hair even right after I vacuumed. I thought the carpet was really vaccumed thoroughly and then I started seeing clumps of hair that the carpet cleaner was pulling up. Dry time was pretty quick. Keep in mind that the cleaning solution they send in your bundle is only sample size and not enough to even do one room. You'll want to make sure you have solution for when you get your new carpet cleaner. Again, the Bissell professional solution is really like nothing I've seen.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] After having rented and used Bissell's commercial Big Green Machine I decided to buy this unit for my own home use... mainly on the basis of cost levels. The rental unit cost me about $98 for a two-day rental (including a $30 deposit) so.a three-times-year rental worked out to about the same as buying this unit (including solution costs). I've used the unit once today for a total of about 3 hours and found that, unless you rush your use of the unit and treat it like a common vacuum cleaner, it works well enough... but there are a couple of qualifications. First, in filling the clean-water tank the markings on the outside of the tank are in WHITE in which can make it rather tough to read the volume levels in the tank. Switching to a black ink for the printing on the tank would alleviate this problem. Second, the unit is rather LOUD... especially in the upper sound register. While the unit overall is loud (as is to be expected) the suction motor emits sound in the high frequency range (1000-2000hz) that makes it suspect for long period use without adequate hearing protection... something that isn't mentioned anywhere in the printed material supplied with the unit. A pair of standard hearing protectors or at least a set of foam ear plugs will go a long way towards reducing this. Third, after rather prolonged use - a total of 3 hours the first day, I noticed that the motor/pump housing (near the on/off switch) was quite warm to the touch... well above human body temperature... around 140˚F as measured with an infrared thermometer. Not having any other unit(s) to test, I don't know whether or not this is the normal operating temperature for this model. Lastly, for those who claim that this model leaves the carpet extremely wet, I can only offer that this isn't a standard vacuum cleaner... the user needs to go much, much slower on both the push and pull strokes in order to get sufficient suction to remove as much moisture as possible.

I'm very happy with my new ProHeat 2X. While it is a little smaller than ones that I have rented, it does a great job. I've used it on carpet and furniture and found it very easy to use and because it is smaller it's very easy for me to handle the machine. The results are great on both carpet and couches. Also, since I own it instead of renting it I can do use it at my leisure, I don't have to worry about returning it before a certain time. I'm very happy with my purchase and wish I would have done it sooner. If you don't mind having to fill the tank and empty the dirty tank more often (which I don't) I strongly recommend this product.

Occasional use to clean after pets, traffic areas, etc. Had it for a few months before belt (small) broke. Ordered new belt from Bissell. As I was installing found the whole drive shaft (that drives the small belts) bent. No wonder the belt broke. Had a Hoover for twenty years, no problems.

Used on carpet and it did a great job. In viewing instructions for stairs, material said cleaner shouldn't be placed on carpet nor left in one place for a long period of time. As the hose is only long enough for about three stairs I contacted Bissell for direction. The agent recommended I purchase a longer hose. Not what you want to hear after spending over $200 on cleaner that's meant to do stairs also.

Used mine for the first the other night. So light and easy to move. Which is saying alot because I just had rotator cuff surgery 6 weeks ago and am still recovering. Didn't bother it at all. House is 1 1/2 years old and have yet to clean the carpets. I knew they were dirty, didn't know they were THAT dirty. Perked the color right up. I gotta say though, as well as it cleaned my carpet, my favorite part has got to be the little tool that helps clean the brushes and the intake nozzles. I cannot put my cleaners away dirty and it drives me crazy when I can't get all of the fuzz and hair out of the nozzle. Problem solved and so easy! Loved it. Thanks Bissell!
