Black ink didn't work

Purchased this thinking it was a deal I loaded the colored inks. They worked fine black wasn't quite empty until a couple months later so I placed the cartridge into the black ink side and its been saying please load black ink. I took it out and placed it back ran the test and still its saying I need ink.
