The salt required for a water softener is pretty basic and Morton salt fills the bill at a competitive price in nice packaging with handles.  The super luxury of home delivery to the door is wonderful.  I have back issues, and home delivery is a beloved luxury.

Morton is a very well known name, and these are the larger pellets, I’ve used them for years and what a difference they add to the softness of our water, definitely the go to brand for excellence

Morton Clean and Protect water softener pellets

About 18 months ago we had a full house filtration and water softener installed and it requires salt pellets to maintain the system and soften the water. I shopped various places to purchase salt pellets and Sam's Club has the very best price available. Not only that it is a trusted name brand product and our technician said this product is just fine. It has a guide on how much you should use over time and there are two of us living in a townhouse and under normal water consumption one bag of Morton Clean Protect is lasting about 4 months! Our water is nice and soft comparing to water experience in 5 star hotels! This is a great product and I recommend it for anyone with a water softening system.

Best and most economical salt pellets available!

Great salt for our water softener.  Just think that bags weighing half as much should be available for those of us who can't lift the 44 lb ones.  Great deal though.

Just what I needed.

Morton Clean and Protect Water Softener pellets have worked great in my home softener. The large pellets make it easier to fill the softener, and the bag can be easily opened at a corner, where the edge tears off, creating an ideal way to pour the salt out.

My Preferred Salt

If you have a well and live in an area with hard water, you need a water softener ... AND Morton Softener Pellets are what you need to soften the water and take care of that problem.  Softened water means that it's harder to "suds up" in the shower - and when that happens, you just feel like you don't get clean.  Additionally, in some areas the hard water tastes terrible and mineral deposits build up in your plumbing system.  Some folks I know that also have hard water end up having to replace their toilets every few years due to that.  We've been using 44 lb. bags of Morton Clean and Protect Water Softener Pellets for decades.  They last a long time and do the job.  In addition to the health and comfort benefits, think of using these as necessary maintenance for your plumbing sysems.  It may be a cliche, but it's true:  this is a product that can literally change your life.  I recommend it.

I love the size and price of these bags. I just place an order online and pick it up at the store. The staff at Sam’s Club are awesome. They bring the bags of salt to your car and load it all for you. I usually order enough bags to last me a year ((15) and then I don’t have to worry about running out. If you have a home water softener this is the best value out there.

Great water softener salt and at a great price!

Bags have holes causing salt to leak out and make a mess in the car.  Be careful when selecting the bags.  If you do a pickup, then workers are not careful to avoid bags with holes and then they toss the bags into your vehicle getting salt all over the back of your car.

These work, of course. They've been around for decades, so they mush. I only wish they were sold in 25 pound bags rather than 40. (I'm 70) I've solved it by opening the bags on the floor and using a large scoop to dump them into the reservoir until the bag is about 25 pounds and I'm able to lift it up to the rim at about 6' from floor level.

I wish they were sold in smaller bags.

The pellets do not look white, it's more like a grayish color. And it leaves your tank looking nasty. I've seen a lot of similar complaints but no solutions.
