This is a great product if you go get it yourself. Unfortunately, when you do pick up, the shoppers don't pay attention to best by date. We have needed up getting this as pick up on the date it was oxidizing and tastes nasty. When I get it myself, I check the date and only purchase if there are 3-5 days till the “best of used by” date. As long as you cook it or freeze it before it starts browning, it's delicious. Once it browns, even a little it's just plain nasty. IMO

Good

A go to purchase of mine.  I make into patties & freeze.  Then I can take out whatever I need.  Never too much or too little fat.  Great for grilling or frying.

A must purchase!

This very good quality meat. 88-12 is a great ratio. I use it for all my recipes. I get it home, divide it into 1-11/2 pound bunches then wrap and place in my freezer. Sam's is the best price although it has increased over the last year but what hasn't!

Ground beef

For the quantity and price, I find it a bit expensive.  Price has steadily increased within a year which makes no sense if beef cattle is from the US.  Don't see how tariff would effect this. Walmart has ground beef cheaper but it contains more fat.  I find ALDI's ground beef much cheaper but in smaller packs.  If you really need a large pack, then I guess it's an ok deal, saving you gas and a trip to another store.

Price has increased

I wasn't happy with the meat this time.  I buy tons of it & bust into 1.5# packages for recipes & it works out great!   This time, for the first time the meat was tuff after cooking & wasn't tender.  Plus it did not taste as good.   I don't know why but not as good as usual. Sorry.

It's okay for the price. I've had better at other stores though. Probably wouldn't buy again unless I don't wanna stop at another store

Okay

This is the second time I get bits of bone small bits part of the ground beef and  so not buying this again. That in addition to the 80% beef 20% fat there is no way this seems like 30 fat and included. I'm sure it's good for some people, but I'm not buying this again, however, I will continue to shop at Sam because I love the store and their products in general

Bones included

The meat smelt really really bad. I mean, I've bought marked down meat before that didn't smell like that. I've accidentally left meat in my trunk for half a day that didn't smell like that. It smelt worse than meat I've left in the fridge for over 2 weeks that I've forgotten about. I was seriously shocked that they would even consider putting it out for consumers to buy. I came back, returned it, went and got another package that had a newer date and time and that one also smelt just as bad which makes we wonder if they just repacked it and put it back out. The lady at the return counter said that she's been getting many ground beef returns that day. I've always made an effort to buy my ground beef at Sam's club instead of going elsewhere but now I'm hesitant and I don't know when I'll trust Sam's club ground beef again. It's going to take a lot of time and a lot of convincing before I'll buy beef from Sam's club again.

Smelt like death and I wouldn't feed it to my dog

Purchased when I visited the store back in January, froze it to cook for a later date. I took it out the freezer on March 7th and thawed through 24 hr refrigeration, by the time I was ready to season the ground meat it was totally brown all around and just the inside was pink. I didn't want to take a chance because of the smell so I called Sam's immediately and was informed that you have 7 days to return a grocery (meat) item. Basically what I am getting at is, if you're not going to cook the meats you purchase within 7 days don't buy. I think it's crazy, because not everybody grocery shop by the day I mean it is a bulk store.

Might be OK for something that cooks down for many hours, otherwise the texture was like chewing a mouthful of rubber bands.  It was very off putting.
