What a Watch
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Absolutely brilliant watch. I have had experience with a few smart watches but this is by far the best I have ever used. I have been using it for four weeks now and its been superb. Day to day I forget its a smart watch as it feels so much like a normal watch to wear. it only needs charging once every 2 and a half days, I tend to do about 5 miles walking every day and all my notifications come through so I would say I have average use. The auto detect for exercise is good as it works out when I run or walk well and when I am sitting at my desk it prompts me to get up and take a walk. All in all a great small device.
Fun to use
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have been using the Gear 3 for a few weeks now. When the watch first arrived watch band was very stiff and hard to get the watch on and off. Since I have the Bluetooth version you need the phone around, but if you are connected to wi-fi it will send you your notifications and calls on your watch still. The watch was easy to set up and to customize for your own needs. While replying to texts on your watch would not be my first choice, it gives you 3 different options to enter text responses. Unfortunately, if you reply to a group text only the person that sent the original text receives the response. Also, as a woman the watch is rather bulky, but the weight is pretty equivalent to a fancy dress watch I have. I will say my wrist does get a bit sweaty and sticky under the ban which is annoying. I do enjoy tracking my steps and being told to move if I have been idle to long. I like to wear it to sleep to see me sleep patterns that it records. Overall this watch is a lot of fun to have on your wrist.
Wanted to like it
I wanted so much to like this watch. However I am extremely disappointed in the price due to inadequate features. Watch does not count steps or flights of stairs accurately. I also came to find that while pushing a cart it does not count steps st all. Watch also lacks features such as a TV remote and a camera that was available on Samsung SM-R380 Gear 2.
Cannot able to download and install the Tumi Watch Face
Have been using Tumi products for years and would like to get the Tumi Version of the Gear. Most of the functions works but not as well when tether to the iPhone. Since my company uses iPhone, I'm stuck to use IOS vs Android. However, when open the box, it has a piece of paper telling you to go to GALXY.US/Tumi to install the watch face. when scanned the QR bar code, it takes me to the the web page and then the Gear S apps then to the Galaxy Apps. Searched the Official watchface but no Tumi. Has anyone able to get the TUMI watchface?
Samsung Gear S3 Frontier- built for the Frontier
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This watch has it all! First it looks like a rugged timepiece, with a big bright display, even outdoors, and a rotating bezel that controls everything (yes you can swipe thru the screens). The Tizen operating system is smooth. Fitness tracker, GPS, Notifications, Heart Rate Monitor, Altimeter/Barometer, Samsung Pay, Sleep tracker, Swappable Watchbands and wireless charging. Connection via Bluetooth, WIFI, and on some models LTE (the watch becomes a phone). I have the Bluetooth/WIFI model, and with the phone close by you can still answer calls. The call sound quaility is quite good. The watch's name is "Frontier" and that's where we’ve gone. Hikes using the GPS, bike rides using the fitness tracker and GPS. With the watch's IP68 waterproof rating, no sweat worries. But I still wouldn’t take it swimming. The watch can record as a standalone device, so you can leave the phone in the car. Or pair with a Bluetooth Headset and listen to music wherever. One crucial safety feature is SOS messaging from the watch. Using the S Gear app, set an emergency contact and by pressing the S3’s home button 3 times, it sends a message with your location, allowing that person to track you for an hour. A little peace of mind if you’re out alone! Samsung Pay from your Watch= Amazing! Long press the back button on the Watch and your Cards appear. Tap the watch on the card terminal and you are good to go! I have the Gear S3 paired with a Samsung S7 Egde, running Android Nougat (must be Android 4.0 or higher). Battery life is impressive. With everything on, the battery lasts 2.5 to 3 days! And when the Gear S3 finally runs out of juice, just drop it on the magnetic wireless charger. In the words of the old Davy Crockett song....The Samsung Gear S3 Frontier is truely "King of the Wild Frontier".
Best wearable on the market at this time
I am a gadget person so I watch and read reviews all the time. I, like most people can’t afford most of the gadgets I would love to own. But some things are worth the wait and expense to acquire. I have been looking at wearables i.e. smart watches for a long time. The only wearable that makes sense to me is a smart watch. I am not into the Apple ecosystem or the square form factor. I want my smart watch to work in conjunction with my android phone. What do I mean? I don’t want to have to pay for an additional sim card. I want to be able to see all notifications from my phone on my watch. I want to be able to reply from my watch. I want to do this in an abbreviated way. I don’t want to type paragraphs of text as a reply that’s why I have a phone. I like the fact that I can answer a phone call from my watch. I wouldn’t use this function very often but in certain circumstances this is very helpful. So my options came down to Android wear, some Chinese operation system, or Tizen operating system. The Chinese system is a no go for me. Android system is to buggy for me. I don’t own a Samsung phone so I had to decide if the Tizen system would work for me. The Samsung Gear S3 to me is the best looking and the rotating bezel is golden. I am happy with my decision to go with the S3. I would be VERY HAPPY if the S3 worked with more function on my android phone. I know Samsung is invested in selling things that are Samsung made, but if the S3 worked seamlessly with all android phones their market would be that much larger. Samsung makes a great phone but I have never owned one of their phones and there are millions of us out there. So I would like to see more functionality with the android system and a tap function between the two function buttons for an enter action. What I mean is that similar to the tickle function make it a tap on the watch case for enter. This would be so I don’t have to touch the watch face to select the function. I would still want the touch screen on the watch. So I like my S3 and would recommend it to everyone. The best option on the market at this time.
Great for golfing
Great all around smartwatch. I have used both the stand alone GPS app and paired with the Golf Pad app on my phone and they both work great. No issues at all with battery life even after playing 36 holes in one day. The sleep tracker is a little hit or miss but besides that everything works great.
Wonderful Watch
I received this as an early 2018 Christmas present and have been wearing it for about 1-month. The Gear S3 Frontier does absolutely everything I expected plus a few good surprises. I was initially worried about the size of the watch, but it's perfect and looks very good on my wrist. The standard band is somewhat flimsy but I'll solve that with a new $10 band.
Great for sport
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Galaxy Gear S3 Frontier is very light, though a little large for my wrist and has a brilliant design, while still being incredibly durable. It's brilliant for people who are very active and into sport; it's dust and water proof and also tracks your entire workout and makes picking your tunes a whole lot easier too. The battery life is absolutely amazing. It lasted me almost three days from a single charge, with always-on turned off. The display is bright and incredibly vibrant, visible even under bright light. Overall, a massive improvement over its predecessor, though it could have wider support for a range of apps.
Love it
This is my first smart watch, and I really, really love it. Very useful to me. I can easily check who's calling or texting me, and I can respond to them so quickly. I'm glad I decided to get one of this, and not only that, I pre-ordered my husband, too, a Frontier one as my Christmas gift for him. I'm just hoping that they will ship it right away. They said, it's on backorder right now. We both love Samsung product!!!
