Great Smartwatch
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was very impressed with this Smartwatch the first time i got it out of the box. The way everything has been designed shows the effort that was put into producing it. It feels premium and appears elegant on the wrist. It has a wide range of features and i have found the health features very useful. Being able to take your heart rate and track all of your movements as you are living your everyday life is very useful. There are also additional apps that can be installed including games, video apps and other useful productivity apps. Unfortunately the payment functionality is not compatible in the UK at the moment. When this is released it will add to the functionality of this device and make it more usable in everyday life. These add to the experience, overall i would recommend this watch to anyone that wants one in the future. I just think to improve it in the future more apps need to be added to the store.
A smartwatch fit for the elderly
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The s3 is a quality, timepiece. It is well designed, bigger than the s2 and the wide screen is superb; quite ideal for those with failing eyesight. The bezel itself enhances its classic appearance. Old folk will find it so easy to control. The s3 feels robust but certainly not heavy and the leather strap is comfortable albeit mundane. A vast array of alternatives is available. Similarly, hundreds of watch faces are available to suit all tastes. The s3 battery can lasts nearly three days, even when on constantly. The built-in GPS is great and older people will find it very useful when combined with ‘Here We Go’ for finding your way around. The various flash lights apps are a real help when fumbling with a key in the dark. Improvements to the microphone and speaker mean that both sound and voice quality have improved over the s2. Streaming music via the watch and receiving notifications on the wrist almost seems to make the phone redundant and it can remain more often in your pocket or handbag. Phoning directly via the s3 is good and calls are clear at both ends. As an OAP, I do find the s3 indispensable and wholeheartedly recommend it although it is expensive. It is very responsive and operating it does not involve a steep learning-curve. Until recently, the app choice was limited but has been substantially extended although key gaps remain. Older people may well find some apps extremely valuable. The S Health is most useful for me because it prompts me to keep moving! It automatically monitors walking, sleeping, hear-rate and now floor tracking. I can also keep up to date with weather and news and being forgetful, I frequently use the excellent voice recognition to add a reminder. Easy Peasy!
Tumi Watch face nowhere to be found.
Overall build quality is excellent. Software is good. (I have an iPhone so functionality is somewhat limited - message and email apps don't work - I'm only able to get incoming text messages and email notifications but cannot reply or view older texts). I also noticed a big battery drain on iPhone after pairing this Watch, but since all those are issues caused I believe by OS, I won't make a big deal about it. I especially like the Tumi strap, very luxurious and expensive looking. Only problem is when I opened the package there's a little note telling me to go to this website www.galxy.us/tumi (that's not a typo, it is spelled "galxy", not "galaxy"), and/or to scan the code in the card to find the exclusive companion watchface, but when I did that, it only took me to the Gear App Store main page in which the Tumi Watch Face was nowhere to be found. Even though I spent several HOURS searching for the Watch Face, for the life of me I couldn't find it anywhere. It should come pre installed in the Watch to begin with! Help!
Miniature Tech
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The excellent design makes the Samsung S3 Frontier more than just a smart watch. This watch is feature packed and will appeal to the fitness finatics or the health conscious with its useful health apps. Disappointingly Samsung do not have a full functioning Spotify or Deezer music streaming app available yet.
Love this new watch
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I had a Gear2 NEO for several years, so I was very excited to get this new watch and try it out. Samsung has really improved on the design and features for this latest watch. I really like the automatic sleep tracking feature. I also like that the watch has it's own GPS, altimeter and barometer. They have also really improved the heart rate sensor. It would never work on my NEO, but this new watch automatically reads my heart rate without issue.
S3
I have never owned a smart watch before, but this watch is pretty darn cool. I like being the fact that I could walk away from my phone and still get messages. Its a little big on my small wrist but that's ok, its worth it I swim but don't feel the need for a watch to count my laps, otherwise I wear during crossfit and haven't had any problems
A great smartwatch
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I am used to using Android wear over the past year. In particular using a Fossil Q Founder. I have incorporated having a smartwatch into my day to day life so being able to test the brand new Gear S3 and slightly different technology was great. One of my bug bares with the Fossil watch is the battery power. It only lasts a day. I knew this when I bought it but it is still frustrating. Straight away I noticed the much better battery life in the gear s3 and how it needs charging once every 3-4 days. Already much more useful. Tizen (the software that is used on the device) is really nice looking. I love the scroll wheel and the buttons at the side which make great use of the functionality of a watch. I did notice with tizen that not all android apps have notifications on the watch than they do on Android wear. I'm sure greater functionality will arrive in due course but the Android wear device wins in this area! I did like the uber app on the watch and successfully hailed an uber to a destination. I found voice recognition on the device quite frustrating, with Samsung S voice not really picking up my commands and saying other things. This got to the point where I was just getting frustrated and stopped attempting. Again Android wear with the simple "ok google" is much more easy to use. All in all a brilliant device. I'd definitely keep using it and I'm sure, in time, the small issues are ironed out!
Great smart watch but needs a lot of improvement on fitness tracking features
Overall product quality is great. Awesome design, easy to use, durable and nice to wear. However, some features requires immediate action from Samsung development team. Key fitness tracking features such as step, floor counter and altimeter are completely off. Steps are being counted while asleep and floor counter is falling miserably and it is not even close to the reality. Even with a 10ft+ variation on the altimeter, it still does not record the floor count. Although the variation is calculated, the altimeter shows elevation way off by 100 ft or more for the region when comparing it to the official data from US National elevation map. Also, it should have a full compatibility with non Samsung android phones (luckily my company phone is a Samsung). I understand this is a new product release and I will gladly give a 5 star rating if Samsung quickly corrects its reportedly flaws. As customers, we should not expect anything but quickly update fixes to be released by Samsung. Until then, I will keep telling my friends to re-evaluate their options based on my purchase experience.
Amazing
Best smartwatch on the market, Samsung makes such high quality products, its almost unbelievable. I barley have to charge it, because it last me two days with full use. This smartwatch has such a slick design with a smooth user friendly interface. Its so simple but yet comes with many options. This smart watch is super convenient for daily use, other than telling time. This smartwatch brings technology to a new level. One of the best smartwatches out there.
Loving it so far
Used to have the Gear S2 Classic and upgraded to the S3 and so far am loving it. the speaker a couple of extra features and a nicer band is nice to have now. Only thing that I don't like is the thickness, it is thicker than the S2 but I guess the perks make up for it and I have gotten used to it now. So far I've used it with the Note 5 and Galaxy S8.
